A wee bit after 7pm in Tokyo - Harajuku. The location of the Tokyo Figure Show - I wanted to post the "making of" but got flooded with other requests including optimizing the figure.fm server after being slashdotted - this is the main reason why figure.fm was lagging today. Figure.fm is turning out to be much much more than I imagined it would be - thanks to you ;-)

Will announce details for TFS tomorrow. The article is nearly done and I just need to write up the Japanese.

And below is 7:03 in the evening an hour ago. Work is fun but am having to turn down a load of requests for my time of late which is not so fun. I would love to do everything but I learned from my times at Amazon that if we spent time doing all the small things, we would never get the big things done and its the big things that mean most and have an impact on life.

Have a look at the things you are doing today and compare it with what you was doing last month. If you are looking to building a career, then you need to be able to say to yourself that the "you" of today is different than the "you" of last month. If you are doing the same things then it may be some time until you reach your destination.
When you do this exercise, its important not to lie to yourself because lying to yourself is easy.
Arms installation is complete - good luck ^^;

If you are interested in reading about life in Japan, seeing photos taken daily around Tokyo, like Japanese subculture (anime, manga, figures, Dollfies) then you may want to start delving into the Japan or Figure categories for a start or have a gander at all photo articles.

If you don't have much time now, maybe subscribe to the RSS Feed, Twitter Feed or join the other readers in the FaceBook Page.
Alternatively, you may want to read more about the site.
If you are a regular reader then this message will probably annoy you each time - hide it forever.

Funny enough, I have changed. So far, as to if it was for better or worse, I don't know. All I have been hitting with my projects to go and live in Japan by March 2010 is rock bottom, followed by a wave of failure. And for one reason or another, I just can't give up, though giving up will save me so much headache and stress. I keep on working on my cause(s), working my way towards the warm beach of success, after the storm of daunting failure.

Setting your priorities, huh? I've learned that a long time ago. In fact, I always say this to my siblings. But it seems that these things are easier said than done. I know what my priorities are, but I can't seem to stop doing the less important things first. Yeah, I know... a VERY bad habit that I would hopefully overcome soon.

It seems that I am no different than the thousands of millions of people out there who prioritize having fun first. I have to break this habit soon, or I'll end contradicting myself :P

Saying "No" is the most difficult thing I do every day!

Everyone wants that server fixed in the next 10 mins, they want ther printer to print, data to be recovered off their dropped 5 year old ext HDD (that has never had a problem before so it cant be anothing serious), their viruses removed pronto, and their PDA to sync in the Phillipines (every province from coast to coast), and their Sat phone data link to work in Pakistan!, and for you to transfer "EVERYTHING" from their old laptop to the new one, even if they dont know what programs they use or where the hell their data actualy is (Cant you just copy it all??)

Peoples belief on your ability to make magic happen in I.T. Support, and say YES its fixed happens al to foten.

But its the 1 out of 10 when you say, NO! I Cant , thats what they remember!!!!

Customers! Technology!, IF THEY KNEW just how close they where to Disaster, THEY wouldnt sleep at night. Luckly they do! and I Dont! So they will never be the wiser!

counter argument is always don't forget whats important in life, to you. maybe going to bigger better places isn't what you wanted. being tied down by commitments

hmmmm I've been asking that same question to myself lately. I've always admired the cool technological advancement of Japan, and i keep on saying that i'm living in a "S*^tHole".

I wonder if i can just forget all the fancy stuff in the world and just settle for the simple things in life right here below the equator?.............."Nope i don't think i can forget it :P"

Oh well....I just need to pick myself up from where i've fallen and get on that road to dreams again.

Very nice to see such a motivational text from you again, Danny. And I must say I can relate to it.

When I was 13-14, I used to do a lot of designing on my computer. I was disappointed when I found out I couldn't achieve the design I had in my mind with the tools I had. Thus, every week, sometimes every day, I looked back at the person I was, and the techniques I knew. Most of the times, I looked back with pity at the lack of skills I had.

At some point in time, I had completely mastered Photoshop and was delighted to see I could pretty much design whatever I had in mind. It was around the same time that I dropped out of school (eh, priorities). I found out after two years on the academy of arts that I'd learned it all on my own. My teachers advised me to leave and do my own thing.

After that, I've been looking back with confidence, and loving the progress I'm making with my own design company. At first, I was really happy that I could sustain myself and my girlfriend living on our own. A month later, I had my first big client (HP), and from there I just made sure I kept advancing my design work and company. It's been great. :)

Steve Jobs, the co-founder of Apple, once shared his train of thought after surviving cancer at his Stanford Commencement address, and stated that his perspective on life shifted from having a vision in life, to living as if each day is his last. I share this feeling: try to achieve as much as you can in your life, while having fun doing so.

LOL when I'm done! It's a LOT of work and I'm basically just moving my stuff to the guest room for the moment so I can move around XD

I wish it wasn't so blazing hot either here... I don't feel like doing anything when it's this hot >_<

thanks for this Danny, if it weren't for this article I wouldn't have realized that the me of today is much more tired than the me of last month. ^^ tired in a good way though, tired means I've been busy with work, being more productive than last month. ^^

I've just been relaxing since I finished the 2nd year of Uni (let's just say I needed it...lol). That'll soon change, though. I need to start thinking about my Final Year Project. I'm not happy with how I did in Uni last year, so I'm determined to do better this time. Looking forward to it. :)

Accomplished a lot over the last month.
Came up with a material mix for figure modelling that may even be better than what is used at Good Smile Company or Kotobukiya.
Had an idea, went with it and was blown away.
I call it the Secret Formula. Spent 2-3 months working on it and at last achieved something even better than what I was wanting. Major impressed. Results will posted in due course.
Can't give any details out on it's composition though.

Good to see such progress on Figure.fm
    What a dream site!
