Rilakkuma (リラックマ) - a name that is a combination of "Relax" and "Kuma" meaning "bear."
Rilakkuma can be seen in places like Tokyo Hands, Loft, 100 yen shops, convenient stores etc. Spotted this bunch yesterday at Lazona in Kawasaki.
Rilakkuma in action below.

Rilakkuma in an ad for the convenience store Lawson.

There's NO WAY i would associate Rilakkuma wit a pedobear. Rilakkuma is too cute. Just check out Shibuya246s blog. He is Shibuyas mascot. He has a store iat one of the train stations in Shibuya. I think he's rather a nice looking bear.

For some more information on Rilakkuma you can take a look at the posts I have written about the Relax Bear. (definitely not a PedoBear) http://shibuya246.com/?s=rilakkuma

In particular, Rilakkuma at the zoo is a funny video http://shibuya246.com/2009/06/02/rilakkuma-at-the-zoo/

Come on, folks...your dirty minds! Dirty! Dirty! Relakkuma != Pedobear. Too cute to be Pedobear and besides, he promotes people having a relaxed attitude. You can't relax when Pedobear is around.

I gave a Relakkuma to the guy who runs Anime Los Angeles...he always wears these kuma-mimi on a headband and his nickname has always been "Bear" but he's almost NEVER relaxed. Especially during con.
