A friend of mine sent me this link yesterday:

Tilt-shift of various locations in Japan for UNIQLO. Very hypnotic… the music is by Fantastic Plastic Machine, featuring Yasuaki Shimizu.
If you are interested in reading about life in Japan, seeing photos taken daily around Tokyo, like Japanese subculture (anime, manga, figures, Dollfies) then you may want to start delving into the Japan or Figure categories for a start or have a gander at all photo articles.

Is this a diorama of a city. Looks like it.
Otaku
Like in a Godzilla or Super Senttai video.
I believe they get that "toy" look by applying a slight blur effect to whatever isn't the focus. Not sure why it works...
http://super-ultra.com
I think it works because you usually see that depth of field blur effect with macro shots that are focused on something really close to the camera. I guess in this case it looks like a close up of a model city. With tilt-shift you get that blur effect even when the camera is super far away, so the large city ends up looking like a tiny model with little people walking around.

it's just how our eyes work, but there are two ways of getting tileshift effect, you can use a tileshift lense, which is EXTREMELY expensive... or you can just just use image editing program...
this video of Sydney was shot with a tileshift lense ;)

Btw you can tilt-shift photos without a special lens too, thanks to Photoshop post-processing. I've learned from this tutorial here: http://www.tiltshiftphotography.net/photoshop-tutorial.php
And here are a few that I've tried: http://www.flickr.com/photos/t0fugurl/sets/72157601748154492/

Meh. Time lapse photos aren't that interesting. The calendar thing was cool though. Still, I'm not sure how easy it is to sell clothes from randomly clicking on things.

Where are they taking some of these videos from? These time lapse videos always seem to be taken from extremely high locations. I feels like they are hanging a camera from outside of a helicopter.

The top left and right photos are the best btw

Ain't a diorama. This is cool stuff. If they were able to do this for a lot of cities it'd be even more interesting.
