Hector brings us more pics of Japan public sleeping. The face-in-bowl-O-ramen is classic.

Man I hope the Emperor or Vader doesn't see that slacking Storm Trooper

I'm really amazed at how they can feel so completely comfortable sleeping like that.

    Honestly

well, you could say it's not the level of comfort that allows them to sleep like that

      it's the severity of fatigue

Yes, that Storm Trooper will probably be banished to some horrible place or vaporized for slacking off. Re sleeping, some of the positions of the people in the photos look like they may be more passed out than asleep. Otherwise, from my time in Japan, I can say that compared to other places in the world, it is easy to fall asleep in public places, especially trains. It is difficult to let go of the watchful edge you need elsewhere, but once you get comfortable sleeping comes naturally.

I heard that storm trooper was reassigned to an abandoned outpost in japan for the same behavior on the death star.

Well, its good to know people can sleep without much worries, and the streets and places are fairly clean. Where i live, if you sleep in the street, you can expect to lose your wallet and cellphone.

Yeah, Gotta admit its got to be safe over there if you can be that oblivious to the world.

I agree with all that's been said. If you're tired, you're tired and no surface is too bad that you wouldn't want to just chill and take a nap. That's an illustration of Japan's monstrous work ethic though, which is really unhealthy in my opinion.

I don't think I will ever allow myself to fall asleep in public ever even if its safe to do so, the one that is more likely to happen to me is falling asleep in on the train.
Often fell asleep when I first started going to my university during the one hour commute didn't have license parents drove instead.

pretty amusing. the face in the ramen almost seems to good to be true! Folks in my neck of the woods would not even blink for fear of someone stealing their things. I am quite amazed they (who are not drunk) enjoy this level of relaxation in public.

Funny, but it must be embarassing for them. The worst place I've ever accidentally slept was on the steps outside the school. Thankfully, no one took a picture. Well, one kid did, but "lost" their camera on the walk home. Oh dear. I honestly had nothing at all to do with the way that camera ended up in a garden five meters from there. It must have fallen out of her pocket and the wind carried it over! Yes, the wind!

Some people are quite comfortable with sleeping on the subway here (including me ^^;). Of course there is the possibility of getting your stuff stolen but it doesn't seem to happen often and you obviously don't leave your valuables out in the open. That's just asking for it in NYC.

some of these people are pretty burned out eh?
I mean, that one guy looks like he just dropped in the middle of walking back to his apartment or something. and the old man 's sleeping on his ramen 8 O. it makes me wonder if they're really suffering from extreme fatigue or if they're just really drunk lol.
