Japan Job Benefits

Looks like a good week for stuff that lands in ones lap ^^;
-Good Smile Racing stickers
-GSC 1/4 scale Nanoha Takamachi (Shes huge!)
-Griffon Chizuru
-Orchid Seed Rio
-Nendoroid Nagi
-Nendoroid Kureha
-Nendoroid Kagami
-Figma Mikuru Waitress
-Figma Tsuruya Waitress
-Figma Kagami
-Yuki Gekisou Ver
-Some other stuff that I'll talk about in a separate post ^^;

Job benefits at Mirai Inc seem to be much better than the ones I had at Amazon or Microsoft ^^;
At Amazon, we had some sort of discount card that we could use to get cheap rates at hot springs and restaurants around Japan.

At Microsoft, we had the same card but the best thing was that we also got up to 8% (or 10% - I forget) off products at the Apple store! Not many Microsoft employees know this though - there was a discount code on the Intranet of the apple software that Microsoft makes - Office, messenger etc.

For those who are working - what sort of job benefits do you get?

If you are interested in reading about life in Japan, seeing photos taken daily around Tokyo, like Japanese subculture (anime, manga, figures, Dollfies) then you may want to start delving into the Japan or Figure categories for a start or have a gander at all photo articles.

If you don't have much time now, maybe subscribe to the RSS Feed, Twitter Feed or join the other readers in the FaceBook Page.
Alternatively, you may want to read more about the site.
If you are a regular reader then this message will probably annoy you each time - hide it forever.

This item was posted in the Figures category. You can see more of everything else or subscribe via RSS instead.

None. Working as a shuttle driver gives no discounts to students or career drivers... we could at least get food money or parking permits but we get zip.

That Nanoha Takamachi looks awesome! As for job benefits:

I work for CSC (http://www.csc.com/) as a contractor for the Department of the Navy. I get the usual benefits:
    - Medical Insurance
    - Dental Insurance
    - Vision Insurance
    - 401-K with company matching
    - Pension with company matching
    - Discounts at theme parks and movie theaters
    - All major and government holidays off (Paid)
    - 2 weeks paid vacation every year
    - Tuition reimbursement (Paying for my MBA) <-- This one is my favorite as it would have cost me tens of thousands of dollars to afford it otherwise! @_@

Then we have the fringe benefits:
    - Cafe on site
    - Gym
    - Lake that you can fish at and take a boat on
    - Not far from the beach (Orange County, CA)
    - Get to travel around the world to different US Navy sites to work on stuff.
    - Other stuff that I'm forgetting.

Overall, its not bad. CSC is a "good" company to work for, but I'm always looking up and forward! Never get too comfortable or you will never grow.

Danny, I envy how you used to get these SAFS all the time~~ I hope one day I would have this kind of experience! I guess this reward will come naturally once you had achieved success, so although I wish but I'm not worry about not getting it, it will come when I get there. :-)

As for benefits, well I'm heading back to my old employer for the summer. There we have some discounts from various companies, some from being an employee of that company, others coming from our parent company. When I first started there back in 2001, the benefits were incredibly awesome, such as paying for your health insurance premiums if you'd been with the company long enough, and paying for some technical classes. Unfortunately, alot of that dropped by the wayside over the years, however. Especially the health insurance.

Only free stuff i ever got was when i was doing a lot of work with a record label, got a lot of free (and not so good mostly) promos from bands wanting to sign or play a gig. Your free stuff is much better, although i got to meet a lot of decent big band members.

My only job benefits are...I get to go into work whenever I want. Though, it's not that great because I don't earn very much money because of it. It's great for when I have school, though, so if I have homework I can just do it instead of having to put it off because of work.

Well... I'm working on a McDonalds at weekends. We can have a few products (it depends on the hours you're working that day) for free in our free time or after working.

If you want something a day you're not working, you get a 15% discount. You also get it in some other McDonald's around Barcelona and surroundings.

It's not much but, at summer hollidays, when they make you work all the week, you save a little money in food.

Yeah: Now you're just bragging. ^^)

Teaching has very little benefits - especially if you teach high school in Australia. Apparently there used to be this great super-annuation plan, but no more. plus you get abuse hurled at you all day, you're expected to work through all your breaks, and even though you may do 2 or 3 hours of prep at home each night, there's no over time.

but hey - the pens are free.

Now I work a lovely retail job with no responsibility. I actually get lunch and tea breaks, and a 15% discount! I'm not expected to take work home much. It's a pay cut, but it's mindless and repetitive and I LOVE IT!

      Outsourcing sucks.

A great employer plan would be to have a plan where you deposit some money from your pre-tax salary and they would buy a random figure and send it to you every month. It's kind of like SAFS since it's random. And you're not really paying for it since it's from your pre-tax salary.

I think the biggest benefit about working at Microsoft are the non-tangibles, such as the health insurance. Practically everything is covered by insurance, from regular doctor visits, to dental, to eye exams, and prescriptions. If you have a family and kids, this adds up to a huge sum of money that isn't spent on medical bills.

There are also things like the company store for software, swag, and games. Also, there are tremendous training opportunities. We get all of our Microsoft Certification exams for free (i.e. going towards MCSA, MCSE, MCITP) and are often encouraged to expand our horizons. Being out in the field, I'm getting sent to a yearly technical briefing event at the end of July. It's like TechEd for the public, but for employees. They'll present all sorts of stuff, most of which is not available to the general public. Oh, and there's a huge attendee party with food, entertainment, and copious amounts of alcohol.

Best of all, however, I get a nice paycheck that allows me to buy toys. That's got to be the best benefit of all!

We qualify for special pricing for several auto manufacturers (bought my Mazda at invoice price, no questions asked), several computer manufacturers (Dell, Lenovo, ASUS, just to name a few), and random places around town.

The other benefit that I left out is that I don't have to get dressed up to go to work. In the summer, it's t-shirt or polo and shorts, when it's a bit cooler, it's t-shirt and jeans. Save a lot from having to buy fancy suits and dry cleaning...

+1 on the no dress code part. Though, occasionally it feels kind of awkward to walk into a meeting in flip-flops, shorts, and a t-shirt while everyone else is wearing a polo, khaki's, and shoes especially with people two/three levels above. Only a little. :)

Kinda miss my previous company's extra benefits like free & discounts on satellite tv services, weekly movies premiere passes, sometimes concerts & shows passes, and celebrities & world tour in the office! That was in the broadcast industry. The only extra benefits I can think of in the current company is we get plenty of free magazines & newspapers - we're press.

Me dun quite hate working for the medias - get lotsa first hand news and rumours, and that's the best part. Of course, I wouldn't mind working surrounded by moe-moe stuff either. ^^

I'm farily certain my employer offers the 3 usual: medical, dental and vision. Though, to qualify for those you have to work a certain amount of hours in a given time frame. Simply being classified as full time doesn't cut it. If you're short a few hours, you don't qualify. There's also 401k and a measly 5% discount. The discount doesn't even apply to all items and it's still usually cheaper just to shop at Walmart

Free public transportation. Discounts on tickets for all sorts of stuff. Discounts for a bunch of stores. The biggest benefit is access to the junk pile. After testing sorts out the failed equipment from the working equipment, some of the failed equipment may actually still function minus a couple of features. You just need to sort through them. Access to thousands of dollars of networking equipment is pretty cool. :)
