Saw many of you with broken figma's and since I carry them around with me often I guess it had to happen to me sooner or later ^^;
Kagami is sad as she lost one of her twintails...
Removed the bit stuck in her head with a small screwdriver.

The problem with the twintails is that they were made of hard plastic - presuming ABS?
The Nendoroid Puchi are made with PVC so how about the twintails from Nendroid Puchi Kagami?

Had to make the holes in her head a bit deeper with a screwdriver but this is Kagami with her shorter cuter hair.

Shes a Dollfie sized for my daughters.

Nyan.

How have you been dealing with your broken figures? Amazon sell replacement parts for 500 yen each.
On a related note, if you receive a figure with something broken, missing or has extremely bad paint job then Goodsmile have asked me to tell you that you should ask your dealer for a replacement and that if they don't replace it for you then you should report it to [support at goodsmile dot jp]

If you are interested in reading about life in Japan, seeing photos taken daily around Tokyo, like Japanese subculture (anime, manga, figures, Dollfies) then you may want to start delving into the Japan or Figure categories for a start or have a gander at all photo articles.

    Only figma part I've broke was on Kagami as well. Was trying to change her left hand and it broke. Had to super glue it back and let it set for a bit then used a needle nose pliers and took the piece out. One hand isn't much though since each figma comes with 5 sets of hands ^^;

The most common part of broken figmas are the hands .

When the ball are snapped from the hand and is stuck in the arm .

Its very hard to take that ball out from the hand >.<

Figmas are very fragile and should be taken care of .

Danny, try using hardware-grade epoxy putty to repair the joint. For example, Oatey's epoxy putty, when cured, is so rock hard I can't even drive a x-acto chisel through it! It's a great quick fix if you think about it.

Oh my goodness, that last picture nearly had me toppling over from the sheer cute.

I didn't know Figma were prone to accidents such as Kagami's, but then I figured, you DO tend to carry them around - so I guess they get much more "exposed" to the elements.

It's a good thing they can be fixed nicely, :)

Only thing broken is one of my kagami's hands. I think it wasn't manufactured right though. Oh well, at least there is 9 other hands that are fine! I'd be sad if her pigtails broke though, I don't have a replacement for that. Danny's kagami does look quite cute with shorter hair though!

If only they finally made replacement parts available through a US site. I'm sure there's plenty of demand. I've had Yuki's glasses broke but they were easily fixable with a tiny bit of super glue. Wish someone could import large amounts of spare parts and sell them to places outside of Japan though, I know I'd do it if I knew where to start.

3 more figma on the way, Kagamiku was shipped a while ago(SAL takes so long but I'm a cheapie) and Waitress Mikuru and Waitress Tsuruya should be shipping soon too(though I probably won't receive them till mid June.

My Konata figma has many broken features about her like the neck joint is extremely lose and any toying (hehe) with her causes her to loose her head. The single hair strand on the top of her head also was too wide and caused her front hair piece to fall off so I tried cutting the excess off only to have it break completely off. Some superglue fix't it but she is basically a figure as she is only for display and not posing. I've also had minor issues with the front hair piece of other figmas falling off too easily.

Something I found really good for repairing plastics is "Plasti-Zap CA, from Pacer products.
It's a CA type glue specifically formulated for plastics.
Trick to using it though, is to use it on clean parts. (you have to remove any old glue) and once the parts start to bond, leave it for 24 hours before handling it. The glue actually melts the parts together a little, so you need to give it time to come to full strength.

I've used it on laptop cases made from ABS + PC to good effect.

Awww...poor Kagami :( Good thing she's all fixed up now. Had two failures with my figmas. One was a relatively minor one on an accessory, as just the hilt of Shana's sword snapped, which was easily fixed. The other was the very first (and still my favorite) figma I ever laid my hands on and much worse. Took Fate out of her box, moved her left arm a bit and "snap" her shoulder joint broke with hardly any pressure. Luckily, I was able to get her replaced. Fate 02 didn't have that problem, but I'm still paranoid whenever I first take them Figma's out of the box now.

Well, I can't seem to get my hands on any Figma, so I don't know what it's like to see an adorable Kagamin lose a twintail. On the other hand, I have a revoltech Gurren Lagann who's wrist joint broke in the box and the sharp fragments of it lodged into the plastic, thus making it impossible to move the hand around any more than the twisting 360' pin joint.

I broke one of Miyuki hands several weeks ago. The ball join is still stuck inside it. It's been left there for a while now as I'm still too busy to drill it out. But I think I'll do it soon after reading this post Danny.
I've now learned never to 'twist' the hands to remove it. I now use an angled tweezers. A lot easier and leaves no marks if angled it properly.
BTW, it's a bad idea to fix it with a scalpel. I've learned the hard way T_T

Not easy to buy Figma Hiiragi Kagami (school uniform version) now... both HLJ and Hobby Search is running out of stock for this item for long time now... IN HLJ, they eventually put this item as "Discontinued".

In e-bay people start selling this item with higher price now...

I just hope someday GSC will reissue this Figma Kagami just like they reissue Figma Hatsune Miku recently....

I have 14 Figma so far....

And I experienced the same problem on my Figma Hiiragi Kagami.... just a few days after having her... fall down from my shelve... and both the twintails broke... I cannot think off the way Danny solve his problem and at that time while under devastating circumstances... I just decided to use Super Glue... and now that twin tails permanently stay there - but cannot move anymore...

Also experience the same thing with Figma Izumi Konata... her tiny single hair on top... easily broke off - the overall head/hair part is very heavy... so anytime that Figma fall down... I have to keep on looking for Super Glue...

I only love to carry around Figma Hiiragi Tsukasa (my favorite so far) - her hair is short and even if she fall down by accident... nothing to worry - as I believe nothing will be broken... so Figma Kagami and Konata just stay on my shelve on their Figma Stand for now... only Tsukasa and Haruhi and Yuki that I will take out for dinner or sightseeing the most...

As for the complains about Figma... of all the 14 that I got so far... I think I only have issues with Figma Nanoha Tamakachi... her joint is disappointing - too soft, not easy for her to stand properly without the stand, and one of her front hair, got a little skretch that the color is a little ruined.

The shop where I bought it is from different country... bought it during vacation, so its impossible for me to buy another air ticket and visit that shop again for the sake of complaining about this Figma to them... at the end I think they will just say to me "We just selling, any problem with the item, not our problem - and anyway you bought it many months ago - why complain now"

Is this problem about Figma Nanoha Tamakachi worth to be reported to Good Smile directly? I bought it few months ago... didn't know then that we can actually complain to GSC.

    I have 18 figmas.

    And so far...

1.) I've had Shanas head snapped off her neck joint.
2.) The hole in my Wonderfest Suzaku's back be too small and snap the peg off the figma stand.

Other than that, I haven't really had any problems other then the waist on my Koizumi being SUPER loose that the lower half of his body would just fall off if I adjusted the legs slightly. I fixed this by wrapping electrical tape around the ball of the joint to make a tighter connection.

Oh, and the front part of konata's hair is VERY loose as well.

But yeah, only two mishaps out of 18 figmas so far... "knock on wood"

That's a good solution, she looks cute with her short hair and red ribbons.
I had my Tsukasa her left arm snapped off because it was twisted in a weird way when she arrived, so I tried to twist it straight again.. and then it snapped -__- she was my first figma, bad first experience.
And a few days ago my kanu arrived and I snapped her L-shaped pin by accident because it just wouldn't go into her back.. luckily I didn't have any problems yet with my other figmas, I try to be really careful.

I broke my Code Geass Lelouche figma just a few days after I got him. I was going to pose him before I went to bed, and when I went to change out his hands, one of them broke clean off, and left the post inside. We tried to get it out with a screwdriver and needle-nose pliers, but were unsuccessful; we ended up having to melt the plastic out with a hot needle. His arm is in a little Kleenex cast right now until I decide what hand I want to glue in there permanently. Poor Lelouche!

Danny, ponytails and hand joints are easy to break. Prevention is better than cure, so the stuff I've got from Japanese version of GSC site tend to be useful for figma owners:

Also, that ball joint on the Danny's Kagami doesn't seem to be made of ABS. Furthermore, it's transparent plastic which is prone to breaking as well as having that balljoint be teeny-tiny.

LOL. It was bound to happen since you carry your Kagami around with you so often. I was actually surprised it didn't happen sooner actually. I was also surprised you don't have an extra Kagami that you keep sealed away for these mishaps. Perhaps you could have just asked Max Factory/Goodsmile for an extra Kagami figure?

Nice solution though with the hair.

My first figma, Evil Wizard Yuki, had the shoulder joint break off after I was re-attaching the arm, since swapping hands gave some trouble. Eventually glued it back on, so her left arm has limited movement.

Then my Haruhi, packed her out of the box, wanted to swap hands and *crack* hand broke. Thank god I got these hands a couple of times with Yuki and Mikuru. Managed to get the balljoint out and fix her up.

broke quite a few, but they were all GKs, havent had any snapped part for my PVCs. I guess it's easier to fix Gks since they are made from resin, and I've been working on GKs for quite some time...

Even though it's easy to repair GKs, but it can be a bitch if the GK isn't build by you, and the section that was broken had a non-basic color, so you have to trial and error the mixture color, as the color sometimes may alter a bit when dry.

I remember the first broken GK that wasnt built by me, it was songstress Lacus, and the color was metallic light tortoise, took me almost a week to get the mixture right.
