Book Off

A man aged 47 was arrested by police of the Nara prefecture for dumping 284 ero books/magazines (adult material) together with 53 videos (DVD?) in a field.
The man said that when he was cleaning his house, he came across all this ero stuff and had trouble getting rid of it.
What do the folks at Itai News think about this?

-Just throw it out with the normal rubbish
-Sell them at Book Off
-Place them on the path to an elementary school
-Should dump them at a shrine
-Why didnt you give them to me?
-Leave them in the front of my apartment!
-Should have stuck with zip and mp4
-If you use the ero mags as fertilizer then you will grow moe rice
-They should make a ero book library to help the young generation grow
-I just throw them at the convenience store rubbish bins.

What do you do with health care stuff that you want to get rid of and what would you suggest to your comrade who doesn't want them?

As for the mags in the photo - stuff I picked up back in 2007 when researching on what sort of games otaku buy so that I could build amazon affiliate stores Like this one - takes ages to load though.
I brought some of them to Book Off but they pay much much less for adult stuff - their strategy seems to be that they pay less for the stuff that they know will sell. I've never got decent prices for the stuff that I give to them.
I just dumped most of these out with the recyclable paper though.

These days I may occasionally pick up an eroge mag to see what sort of trends are going on - especially because some eroge makers said they want to use Mirai Gaia ^^;

If you are interested in reading about life in Japan, seeing photos taken daily around Tokyo, like Japanese subculture (anime, manga, figures, Dollfies) then you may want to start delving into the Japan or Figure categories for a start or have a gander at all photo articles.

If you don't have much time now, maybe subscribe to the RSS Feed, Twitter Feed or join the other readers in the FaceBook Page.
Alternatively, you may want to read more about the site.
If you are a regular reader then this message will probably annoy you each time - hide it forever.

Know that when you recycle, it's alllllll reused.

Like those recycled-material couches and clothing and stuff. You might be sitting on or even wearing some XXX without even knowing it. Isn't that a comforting thought?

It's still with you, just repurposed~

...Now don't start having "fun" with your couch or t-shirt in public, control your thoughts...

But ero stuff... no idea. Don't own any ero stuff. Unless I count the dvd my dad accidently bought me, Darkness-something, don't remember the title lol.(He didn't know it was hentai lol)

If I did... I could burn it. We have a Rayburn(coal-running central heating, we have the normal electric kind too lol). The ero books we could use as kindling lol.

Be careful what you burn because it might not give the expected result. A friend of mine got the idea to burn old CDs (don't ask me why) and threw them in the fireplace. They generated a lot of heat and sparks and this made the fire spread to the soot in the chimney and they had to call the fire brigade.

It will also polute quite a lot. Professional burning of garbage uses filters in the chimneys (at least in western countries). Burning plastic will not only hurt the environment, but also the people who is exposed to the smoke (causes cancer and other nasty stuff).

I also note that Meimi's dad buys hentai for his daughter... highly suspicious behaviour :P

    When I have something which can be useful for somebody else, burt not me, then I take it to a local used stuff store. It get stuff for free, gets clerks for free and give 100% of the profit to good causes like Christmas presents for poor children or projects to provide farming or clean water in Africa. It's run by the church though so I don't think eroge would be good to show up with ^^;

I tend to stash everything useful so I don't go there often with anything for them. I go there once in a while to buy stuff though.

Forgot to mention that I don't have anything indecent to give them. I thought it was interesting at one time, but then I ended up not being a teenager anymore and I realised that it was the very same thing over and over and it ended up being boring. Besides quite a lot of it aren't that nice to women (they are just there to be used), which is a point of view I can't share. Also I now believe that 3D people doing something like that in front of a camera for money is like prostitution and I want a complete ban of prostitution.

That is an insane amount of stuff to just happen to find while cleaning. @_@ I guess he had it all stacked in boxes in the garage or attic or something? In any case, littering is a crime, so he should have just gave them away, or sold them, or something instead of just illegally dumping them. It's a sad waste of good health care stuff as well. XD

Many years ago my roommates and I received a gift from a friend who was getting married, his HUGE collection of health material.

This was a massive shipping box packed to the brim with magazines and a stack of videos. It was easily enough to fill the trunk of car! When it came time to move, none of us really wanted to keep this huge box (I for one was moving in with my girlfriend/future wife) and we couldn't decide how to dispose of it.

So in the middle of the night I took this horribly heavy box of health materials and left it in the courtyard in front of the college arts building.

These days of course, the first person who saw that box sitting next to the school would have called the police. It would have been quite a sight to see the bomb squad open that package on the news!

If it was me who owns all the eroge magz, I would keep it and complete all the issues. So that when the times comes that they don't sell this stuff anymore at least I have all the issues and it's a collection for me, then I can sell them for a higher price or make it worth millions like those antiques right!!!

First note, people referring to it as health material. never thought about it but that is a great way of putting it.
Second, recycle of course. But I wouldn't go straight for the blue arrowed bins. I would most likely sneak some into one of residence rooms. I'm a Resident Assistant for a freshman floor at my college. If you don't know what a R.A is it is like a prefect) Most of them would probably be grateful considering I seem to get most of the shy kids with little to no experience with the opposite sex.

My freshman year I remember meeting a guy who used his old health material as bed risers. I'm sure you can be creative when it comes to recyclable uses for ero mag/books.

Ahaha, yeah. "Health material" is a way to refer to it without actually using the words, kind of like how we use "eyes" for a female's upper assets. Using the words explicitly is apparently bad for website/search engine listings, and it's a nice little in-joke.

Health material, by the way, derived from the time a news report came by that, ah, self-health care is good for you in regular and non-excessive amounts.

I've seen many people who would bring tons of books to Bookoff to sell and dismay at the price Bookoff will pay them but reluctantly accept the offer since they don't want to take back all the books.

I'm also reluctant to sell books to Bookoff since about 40% of my books are from Bookoff and it would be embarassing to sell those back to them, it's like you pay them for nothing!

I think the message is loud and clear: If you have ecchi material you don't need, give it to Nara's best - or else.

He should have probably sold them at Book Off. There are plenty of Book Off's in Japan, and they will probably take it off his hands.

Still this remind me of the current case in Iowa, United States.
