Anime North - is a fan run anime convention held in Canada and the last one took place from May 22 - 24. A few dannychoo.com members went along and I plucked a few photos from member twu and Rin's burogu - check out more at their site and below.

An pretty impressed with the level of some of these costumes.

Original text from twu below.

With approval from the girls, I give you (in my opinion) the cutest girls in this year's Anime North cosplay festivities.

This Persocoms pair is very cute. Gotta love this Chi cosplay. ^^ Her friend is cute too. :D More cuties over at my bloggg.

This is a continuation from my previous Anime North 2009 cosplay coverage, in case you missed it. *I need to edit that post since most of the "name that character photos" have already been identified* Thanks for visiting my blog. ^^

If you are interested in reading about life in Japan, seeing photos taken daily around Tokyo, like Japanese subculture (anime, manga, figures, Dollfies) then you may want to start delving into the Japan or Figure categories for a start or have a gander at all photo articles.

If you don't have much time now, maybe subscribe to the RSS Feed, Twitter Feed or join the other readers in the FaceBook Page.
Alternatively, you may want to read more about the site.
If you are a regular reader then this message will probably annoy you each time - hide it forever.

The Kuririn with that slicing disc made me laugh
The Masterchief with the two covenant weapons made me wow (though skinny a little)
The Sora hair made me wonder if many of the Sora cosplayers went to the same hair stylist.

I went to this on Saturday. No cosplay for me though. But I did go in my Hiiragi twins cosplaying Evangelion t-shirt. Took some poor quality cellphone pics of some nice cosplays though. Thinking of if/what I should cosplay next year when I go.

Did anyone see the 3 Haruhi bunny girls? They were really hot...and that pink Chii is pretty too.

I actually thought that previous year cosplays were better. Maybe its because I spent all three days standing cooped up in the dealers room... that said, there was a large open space behind our booth where a professional photographer was taking cosplay photographs with a proper white screen. I saw the four D.Gray-Man cosplayers there. They were probably the best I came across.

(found a $20 in a parking lot a few weeks ago. Lucky! :)

XD And we were just talking awhile back about the lack of ARIA cosplay...or rather, I found your conversation and commented on it.

I have to be honest here. I don't think this is an exceptional cosplay - Akari's pink hair really only shows in the two locks in the front. But it's certainly not bad, and to see ARIA getting more attention is gratifying on its own. Props to them. :P

Normally, I'd agree with you. Given that I almost never see an ARIA costume, I have to give props simply based on the effort to do a non-mainstream series.

One of my favorite costumes that I've seen is probably the simplest. There was a girl at Animazement a few years ago that dressed up as Kiki, from Kiki's Delivery Service. It was an extremely simple costume, consisting of a black dress, red hair bow, a broom, and a Jiji plushie. It was also very well done. :)

You're right about Yami now that I think about it. Blond girl + tattered dress and a cross, and lots of buckles.

Would love to see loli cosplays of her and Nanoha, though. When I look at cosplay it's accuracy, effort and emotion that counts the most.

As usual some good or great, and some not so good. Still you have to give people props for having the balls to go out like that. I notice that most of the time, people have a really hard time trying to pull of the hair.

It reminded me of that time when AX wasn't held in Anaheim and people were walking around the city in cosplay. The look on random people's faces was obviously WTF!!? especially on buses. Now I'm waiting for someone to cosplay Mio with the actual guitar she has in the anime. I remember someone doing that for Haruhi in her bunny costume.

Woah! What a great event was held in Canada!(I feel a little of envy to all of you)

Well, a lot of cosplay and some of them very beautiful, for example, my favorites are the chobits sisters (they both are gorgeous, especially Chii ^^), the Rozen Maiden Green lady is a beauty (I can't remember the name of the character) and, of course, the Krilin and Master Chief cosplay were very funny to see ^^.

As I said, a great event.
Congratulations to all the people in the Anime North!

Sachie, what a great surprise this is and I feel so good knowing that you are the lady behind that cosplay of Suiseiseki ^^. Believe me, you look absolutely beautiful in that outfit (kind of gothic princess should I say) and please, if you ever do new cosplay, don't forget to share them with us.

Somehow I feel like I'm the wrong country... but, I still have the chance to behold this wonderful conventions through the internet.

So Sachie, from now on I'm one of your fans, make me proud to be in the future ^_^!

I think for next years conventions I'll still be Suiseiseki, I'll just try to get a wig and contacts to make my cosplay better. :)

Thanks so much for the support! :D It makes me feel so happy~

You're welcome Sachie but you deserve it ^^.
And that's the spirit, if you like cosplay and, as I can see, you're talented on it, please, keep doing it.
You know, cosplay doesn't look good when the cosplayers are too emotionless or plastic (to put it in simple words) but you look absolutely Natural and that's refreshing and attractive at the same time (and of course, if we add your beauty the picture results perfect ^^).
I can say it was a hard work making your Suiseiseki outfit but it's a marvellous one, as I said, I'll keep an eye on you here and in cosplay.com.
My best wishes for you. Congratulations ^^.

I will be doing the contacts, yes! One of my best friends agreed to do a Souseiseki cosplay, so we'll look like twins! :3
We'll only need to buy one pair of green contacts. Desu's green eye is on the left, and Souseiseki's is on the right. (I'll take the left/ she takes the right.)

We're really grateful to you! There are more and more people going to the convention every year and the cosplay has been getting better. It is good for us to have the exposure as it will bring more people out maybe even have some people travel here for the con!

    Thank you once again Danny and to all of you in the community around the world. Toronto DC community we shall have more events during the summer watch out for that! Rin and Twu thanks so much for taking better quality photos ^^;

It's funny how I keep missing cons/events all my life. When I was in Japan, I missed A-North, When I was in Toronto, I missed the Hong Kong Comifes, When I was in Hong Kong I will be missing C76.

Being an otaku of 8 years, I've never step foot into a single con before. (I have been to a comifes Hong Kong when I was really young though, way before I was an otaku.)
