I tried to keep quiet and not comment on any of the desk photos but had to say something when I saw this photo! Pretty awesome indeed!

Not fair in what sense? You had to have desks with bunch of expensive stuff? Even if you take away most of the stuff in that big purple desk it would still look awesome. Just look at that metallic color and how organized it looks..
And this IS Danny's site so he could do anything as he please. And no I'm not sucking up, as much as I want the contests to be not 'best desk, room, etc.' which means you should be pretty loaded to buy those stuff in the first place.
You should just participate more, there are contests in which Danny asks the user to guess some stuff.. Everyone should have a pretty decent chance of winning since you're only required to guess.

Yeh, this is indeed Danny's site, which is also a blog where people share views, opinion, news, gossip and hobbies.
I'm just voicing out my opinion on the contest result.I am not trying to hurt anybodies feeling.
Alodia did indeed have an amazing Desk, but she is also an internet idol and came from a upper class family which help her afford such luxurious collection. I am somewhat envious as well, just so you know.
But that is not why I am disappointed with the winner's result. I just felt that the grand prize should have been given to one of the five runner up, that's all. If she is so well-off, wouldn't you feel that someone else would have gain more benefit from the prize money to help expend his or her collection?
It's like having a Formula one racer in a cycling race, as soon as a friend of my link me Alodia's contest entry, I have predicted that she would have won the contest. If she have won the contest from DC community votes in anonymity, I would accepted the result.
I did enter the contest, but at best my desk entry are mediocre compare to others. I'm just voicing my thoughts about the contest result, sorry if I hurt Danny's, Alodia's or anyone's else feeling.

the argument that "this IS Danny's site so he could do anything as he please" actually makes Danny sounds like a bad guy. Is Danny fair ? I don't know but I do know that Alodia's desk is awesome. I like the color and the way she organized it.
And an internet idol, rich, cute, etc should not be excluded from this contest. It will be unfair to Alodia if she could not win because she is so well-off. We were talking about "the best desk" here, not "the best desk you can get with little money".

Even if the winner is well-off, took time to build their collection or whatever the background is.
The fact still remains which is she won and all we can do is say "Oh well, better watch out for something else."
But i do understand what Gen. Noodles is pointing out. I too knew that when she posted her desk that she has a relatively very high chance of winning and that hunch came true.
It does leave some bad after taste to certain collectors/members who participated but as the saying goes, "Life is like a tire. Sometimes you're on top and sometimes your on the bottom."

It is vital you understand what you are asking here.
While you believe you are asking for a "level" playing field, you are potentially asking others to be excluded. It would be unfair for members to have to contemplate whether to enter based on their living situation. The only standard Danny requires, and can consciously enforce is that you be longstanding contributing member. You can't ask him to discriminate members.
You have misunderstood what the underlining purpose of what this contest was all about, which was to sharing a part of yourself with the community. While it is human nature to wish you could have won, it is important that you support your fellow members. There are plenty of other contest here that only require you to answer correctly. So refrain from negative comments as it only reflects badly toward yourself.
Remember, Danny is holding these giveaways to benefit members as best he can. There is no expense on your part to enter, so keep that in mind.

My room is just a pig pen, and the only thing on my walls, besides the mold that is probably behind my tv and dresser, is a small wallscroll if DBZ on the INSIDE of my closet, adding to the term "closet fan" literally. Oh, and I can't forget my girls of maxim 2000 calender. For over 9 years, it has been January 2000 (Jennifer Love Hewitt)in my room.
The only decorations on my desk, aside from keyboard, monitor and mouse. are empty soda cans, vitamin bottles and bills.

Did you guys notice that a lot of user who post their desk have samsung LCD display as their main screen? If I'm not wrong there are somewhere around between 20" to 22" screen. While I'm using a Sumsung 20" SyncMaster 2033sw.

Have to say I disagree with the top 2 choices. Alodias pic is great but I felt that it was more suited to the "your room" giveaway than "your desk" Same with Ayas entry. (also, I didn't really agree with those ppl who stuffed their desks with figures to the point where they cannot be used as anything other than a display.

Those are good points. however...
In my last office at home I had 5 tables/desk that was one large working area. I considered that as my desk. I would easily move around from one to the other depending on what I was doing. Personally I don't view "desk" as one physical object.
In the end, I may view all this differently because I have been here for awhile. Danny is a very fair person, as we all know. If he felt something wasn't fair to other he just wouldn't have considered it when judging.

Speaking of the member voting system, couldn't you just use the comments section of a member's post? Just tell everyone to comment on the ones they would like to win, and you can filter the comments by unique users who have been signed up to DC for some time (to prevent spam) and filter out the comments by the poster themselves, and then count them up. Of course, this allows for the same user to vote for different posts, but I don't really see this as a problem.

I don't know how you store the comments, but I'm sure its nothing a lot of SQL select and where clauses can't fix lol! But in the end, it would only be a temporary solution because you would eventually have unscrupulous users creating accounts far in advance in anticipation of future giveaways. How many options does your current voting system allow for in a single poll? Perhaps you could do brackets/heats?

I really only liked two desks out of the runner ups ( hikky and Gordonator ) and one of the others ( howtoyourfigure.wordpress.com ) while much of the others would best be described by as pouring the garbage can on the desk. Allot of this came about I believe in a miss reading of the contest guidelines and a rush to throw everything anime and figure onto ones desk to win, to the ones I mentioned that I liked I think you did a great job of showing a clean desk.
In regards to Alodia I do congratulate you on the win but I don't see that as a desk as much as it is a shelving and storage wall unit but it is nice none the less. I think where some people got upset is because Alodia is a member of the industry which would bother some people, its like when a company host's a contest and in the rules it states that no family members of any employee who work for the company or any smaller holding companies are eligible to participate because it would be grounds for favoritism if they won. I think the other thing that upset some people is that its obvious that Alodia is on a completely different playing field as compared to the rest and with her being an industry member you almost have to wonder how many of those figures she has were purchased and how many were freebies such as what Danny gets.
Myself I don't care who won, its not my contest and I didn't enter as I have a plain Jane desk and I didn't have the time because my life is really busy. Thoughts for the future, any contest that requires a vote should be solely voted on by members with 6 months or older membership with no decision making by Danny or any member of the company or his wife. Any contest that requires a correct answer should go as it always has.
