Hydrogen Sulfide Suicides in Japan

Nearly every day in April, people have been killing themselves with hydrogen sulfide gas - some of them go quietly while some end up harming others with the gas. The latest person reported to kill herself was Miyuki Asou - a gravure idol who turned to making AV movies..

"This 22 years old woman had been a stages actress when she was a high school student. Later, she entered in the show business world, and until recently, she’d been active as a gravure idol. However, she couldn’t become so popular, and this February, she challenged to a porn video. And thanks to her past career, she could become one of popular actresses.

But it seems this change and transfer was a stress to her, and on March 18th, she killed herself in a bath room at her apartment. Before she passed away, it is rumored that she had notified her suicide on her blog, but her agency has already closed it, so there are no means to confirm it."

I was wondering where the hell people were managing to get enough H2S to kill themselves with, then I checked wikipedia:

Hydrogen Sulfide has been used frequently in Japan, created when mixing a detergent with a shampoo. Inhalation of the compound is lethal. The Japanese government have been battling an alarming surge in suicides using this method.

    Thanks wiki!

Not a very brave way to go.
I think stabbing yourself to death is a lot braver.
Although the best thing is not to kill yourself and not think about suicide as an option in the first place. Best thing to do is run away from your previous way of life by taking a train and settling down in a new place.

0_o brave or not this is called real life. If you want to kill yourself depending on what it is don't leave a mess for people to clean up. Like seriously nobody wants to take your hanging corpse down from the noose.

People kill themselves because of major issues to stab yourself is even crazier than taking drugs. People like that have some mental problems if they want to inflict pain on themselves. Seriously don't even post about how brave you are to kill yourself.

Sad, and more than just pitting the fact, I think society should rethink about what is happening to people like her.

You know, it's not a mere coincidence that she was a young idol, and ended up the wrong way.

I think there are lots of people being submitted to things they shouldn't at young ages, and the result of that exposure eventually leads to stuff like that.

Need more examples? Britney Spears, Mcauley Culkin, Michael Jackson... among others.

Now, it's not that kids, young actors/actresses or idols should be forbidden to do their jobs, but the industry have to rethink the way these kids are being dealt with.

And if they don't find a way, yeah, then it should be forbidden.

Taking away one's own life needs a lot of guts and determination. I'm sure most of us will think twice when we are half suffocating, that we want to live another day.

I've come close to near death situation when I almost drowned in a pool - was pushed in the deep end by a colleague who didn't know i couldn't swim :D When ur gasping for air and the lungs r filled with water, its not easy dude.

She tried so hard in her career and completely lost hope in that...
I hate the "People"'s world because of that... A ruthless environment full of vultures and hypocrites. She was a victim of that.
She did want recognition and fame via hard work but rivalry in that domain is intense. Even more because in societies we are raised and trained to become generic humans (provider of labor, taxpayers and customers broadly) and not unique people. The individualistic side and the interdiction to show one's feelings of pain and suffering.
I also wanted to say that extreme despair is something no one wants to face, but it happens in our world, can happen to anyone, at any place and any moment and is closer than anyone would recognize.
Anyway... May she rest in peace.

Wow, thats sad and depressing. Theres nothign in the world that is worth your life.

In times like this I like to post the words of Rocky Balboa. Im not joking, I follow these words closely. Whenever Im down i remember them and I get better...

"Let me tell you something you already know. The world ain't all sunshine and rainbows. It's a very mean and nasty place and I don't care how tough you are it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain't about how hard ya hit. It's about how hard you can get it and keep moving forward. How much you can take and keep moving forward. That's how winning is done! Now if you know what you're worth then go out and get what you're worth. But ya gotta be willing to take the hits, and not pointing fingers saying you ain't where you wanna be because of him, or her, or anybody! Cowards do that and that ain't you!".... Rocky Balboa

    Ouch. My condolences.

The human mind is fragile, really. Ultimately, it's ourselves that make or break us. That choice to sleep in the dark, or to continue in the light... Well, I guess no one really knows until that moment which would be chosen. I mean, I might be saying that I definitely won't go suicidal, but ten years down the road and the window would have a whole lot more appeal to me.

i cant pity anyone that commits suicide. shes cute, but stupid. there were infinite possiblities for her to do something about her life, but she chose the easiest way out. if she could hack it in high school she should've hacked it in gravure, since she didnt why not move to something better, like going out of the country, going out of towm, going somewhere where no one would have recognized her. build up again and come back.

of course my suspicion lies in the AV people who may have forced this life on her, kind of like raping her to submission. there are many pornstars in america that have went like this girl, shes another one in a very long list of AV/porn suicides.

What my question is...did she get any help and/or support from her family, friends, etc? I know that in Japanese culture that it's hard to open up to others about personal problems, but a lot personal issues could be solved.
Such sad news. Until the next world....

H2S gas. We get trained about this lethal gas when working in the offshore oil and gas industry. In small volumes it has a smell like rotten eggs. In large volumes (ppm) it kills the smelling senses almost instantly and you die without even knowing it!

Creepy. You had to do this in one of the Silent Hill games. You mix the stuff in a bucket then leave the room so you can turn on this fan and kill all these flesh eating moths that are infesting the corridor.
