Starting a new series called Tokyo Drive - usually have the camera with me and have always wanted to share views of Tokyo from the car. Some routes will be boring and some will be more interesting to look at like the routes around Yokohama - which isn't exactly Tokyo but close ^^;

This route is from Lalaport Toyosu on the way home. Taken on the Panasonic Lumix LX3.
Music from Ridge Racer R4 - a great game from over ten years ago on the original Play Station,

If you are interested in reading about life in Japan, seeing photos taken daily around Tokyo, like Japanese subculture (anime, manga, figures, Dollfies) then you may want to start delving into the Japan or Figure categories for a start or have a gander at all photo articles.

If you don't have much time now, maybe subscribe to the RSS Feed, Twitter Feed or join the other readers in the FaceBook Page.
Alternatively, you may want to read more about the site.
If you are a regular reader then this message will probably annoy you each time - hide it forever.

I always used train to travel around in Tokyo and never drove around there which bothered me :P I asked my Japanese friend if he can drive me around in Tokyo next time I visit Japan and he promised me that he will. I can't wait until I go to Japan again, woot!

Yes, unfortunately I too primarily used trains to travel whenever I'm at Japan. It can be a nice way to see Japan, but it can also be hell in a sardine can when it's rush hour. Other than trains, I just walk.

Definitely remember those sardine can moments. Had to hold my backpack to my chest, turn around, and just PUSH back in order to squeeze on and exert enough force to stay out of the path of the closing doors. Once the doors are shut, just relax and be squeezed against the door...

How was the camera mounted on the car? Was it on your tripod? The video capture was quite steady. I guess there was no bumps on the road way or it was edited out. I enjoyed it.

Oooh neat! It's interesting to see how driving on the left side is like after driving on the wrong side (I mean right... ^^;) for so long. I remember when it was extremely difficult to drive on the right, but now I can't figure any other way I guess. Then again, I haven't driven a car in like five-six years because I plain can't afford the gas. Yep, it's biking for me... *ding ding* Move your car! XD

That was pretty neat to watch. Felt like I recognized some parts from a racing game I used to have for the PS2, but it's probably just my imagination. Speaking of which, you should add some drifting/street racing to the next one!

I probably couldn't actually drive in Tokyo without crashing because I was too busy trying to look at all the scenery instead of the road.

Cool video ^^ Where the vertical lines that occasionally popped up from the video encoding? Or perhaps the recording mode? The LX3 is capable of 1280x720 right? But then again I guess it's probably not practical to shoot at that resolution for an extended period of time due to space and possibly battery constraints? ^^"

The one thing I can't stand about the LX3 are those vertical purple lines (vertical smear) seen in the video every time you film a light source. I refuse to use the video mode when there is an intense lighting source because it makes the video look bad. I've had other cameras where the vertical smear isn't that noticeable. It's a shame that they couldn't find a way to control it better.
Oh yeah, nice video though. A different perspective from the norm. It was interesting to see how uncrowded the roads were on your drive.

Its great just to go back once in a while and revisit some areas through video. I also did it when I road the shinkansen from Tokyo to Fukuoka. AHHHHH...brings back memories.

The streets are in good condition there. Here in Ohio, the streets are so bad. Is Tokyo really as clean as it looks? I know that when I go to about any big city in the US it just doesn't look as clean as what I have seen here on Dannychoo, Youtube, and in pictures. I also realised that you drive on the left side in Japan while in the US, you drive on the right side. Is there any other countries that you drive on the right side of the road like the US?

Ya know.. I've drove in england a couple of times.. but I'll still never get used to seeing traffic on that side of the road. totally boggles me..

I remember the first time I drove in england.. Was so used to my car.. I didn't get into the passenger seat looking for the steering wheel.. no.. Less tupid then that.. but not by much.

Got behind the wheel.. Gas and everything were in the right spot didn't think anything of it.. Key went in the ignition on the right side of the wheel .. seem totally normal.. till I went to put the car in gear. Had an automatic.. reached up with my right hand for the gear shift.. and found nothing.. sat there looking out the window for about four grabs for the missing gear shift.. till I looked to the left and it was by my left hand.. Looked at my dad and went.. Whoops!

it might make it less boring if u put a different figure on each car drive vid.

If you had a Z34 with full race exhaust you might not need the background music to accompany the video, hell, the video would be shortened by half, if you step on it ;)

I really like this series. It would be nice if the camera could be outside the car though (on top would be best) as the windshield lowers the quality considerably.
