Maid Japan

The huge electronics department store Yodobashi Akiba has changed their official mascot from a train to a maid as you can see from the attached photo.
For those who miss the train mascot, you don't have to feel too sad as the maid kinda looks like a train? ^^;

For those who have not been to Yodobashi Akiba, they sell pretty much everything to do with electronics and also have a load of Gatcha and figures too. Its located right outside Akiba station - just follow the signs when you get off the train.

Via Akiba PC.

If you are interested in reading about life in Japan, seeing photos taken daily around Tokyo, like Japanese subculture (anime, manga, figures, Dollfies) then you may want to start delving into the Japan or Figure categories for a start or have a gander at all photo articles.

If you don't have much time now, maybe subscribe to the RSS Feed, Twitter Feed or join the other readers in the FaceBook Page.
Alternatively, you may want to read more about the site.

    Looks like all the Mascot talk is still getting around. Take the stories from there about the Moe bags of rice with the girl now on the front and the carry trash bags with Moe Anime Girls on them. The problem with this one is theres no room for the building and its new Mascot on the shelf with the rest of the Anime Collectibles... . . .

    The first time I set foot in one (in Akiba), I didn't get off the first floor… I was amazed at all of the iPod accessories that I could not get in the US.
    Then, a week later, when I was in Osaka, I spent half a day at Yodobashi. Bought lots of stuff and left very happy.

    One of the best parts about Yodabashi Akiba is that it's open until late. Most Akihabara stores close at 8 or 9, but if you're not done shopping yet, you can head on over to the giant store which opens until 11 PM!

    Some can look back and fondly reminiscence about the days of "The Train", whilst the rest will remember "The Maid", so it's a win-win!!

    I went in there a few times when I was in Japan since I love electronics and anime merchandise... omg that place is huge and has everything!

    But, didn't buy anything... since those smaller stores down in Akihabara are sometimes somewhat cheaper if you look for bargains.

    A little sad that they've changed it. The little train was my guide when I got lost in Akiba. :(

    I'm surprised I've never been in Yodobashi Akiba though. I just figured he was there representing the train station. XD;

    I loved the train, the fact the made is similar-ish is NOT ENOUGH >_<

    Although, while in Akiba I prefered the various more indie type stores, and sofmap. I think I only went in Yodobashi once [to use the toilet] then got a bit distracted by figma and gunpla of course XD

    I like the Yamanote line train but the maid is cool too. I think that the train was supposed to show how both Yodobashi's Tokyo stores were on the Yamanote line and connected by the Sobu Chou lines as represented by the green circle with the yellow and red stripe.

    I love the place! The first time I was in Japan I spent a few tens of thounsand of Yen at different branches. My favourite is the one in Shinjuku, it's not as big as the one at Akihabara, but the things they have there is a little different too.

    The local closest equivalent is Mustafa Shopping center, they have everything there too, except tobacco and alcohor. Best part is, it's 24Hrs.

    I wish Yodobashi Camera could be 24Hrs too.
