Maid Japan

The huge electronics department store Yodobashi Akiba has changed their official mascot from a train to a maid as you can see from the attached photo.
For those who miss the train mascot, you don't have to feel too sad as the maid kinda looks like a train? ^^;
For those who have not been to Yodobashi Akiba, they sell pretty much everything to do with electronics and also have a load of Gatcha and figures too. Its located right outside Akiba station - just follow the signs when you get off the train.

I'm sure you've been around long enough to realize by now, and you did have a legitimate comment in there, but I figure it wouldn't hurt to restate that rule. For all the new members' sake as much if not more than yours, really. ^^

The maid is cute, but I can kind of see the train element. It's on the maid's apron, some sort of.. shinkansen.

Looks like all the Mascot talk is still getting around. Take the stories from there about the Moe bags of rice with the girl now on the front and the carry trash bags with Moe Anime Girls on them. The problem with this one is theres no room for the building and its new Mascot on the shelf with the rest of the Anime Collectibles... . . .

A very clever marketing strategy to get some more attention.

It'll be even cleverer if they get store greeters to dress up like their mascot too. ;-)

I've been there. That place is bloody huge! I took a photo of it across four lanes of traffic and still couldn't fit it all into a photo.
Messed around with a HD camera hooked up to a HDTV in there too...saw my fingerprint on a 50" LCD. Good times.

It's a pretty big place I do have to say and a pretty cool place to go too!!!!!
Never really noticed the train mascot when I went but I think the new mascot is pretty kawaii!!!!!
If I remember correctly, that there is a CD place on the top floor of Yodobashi.
I need to go there again when I go to Japan this summer...

I love Yodobashi!
The first time I set foot in one (in Akiba), I didn't get off the first floor… I was amazed at all of the iPod accessories that I could not get in the US.
Then, a week later, when I was in Osaka, I spent half a day at Yodobashi. Bought lots of stuff and left very happy.

One of the best parts about Yodabashi Akiba is that it's open until late. Most Akihabara stores close at 8 or 9, but if you're not done shopping yet, you can head on over to the giant store which opens until 11 PM!

The maid is pretty cool ^^
... the train was cool as well, but like most things, I guess the company felt it needed to *upgrade* to keep current.
Some can look back and fondly reminiscence about the days of "The Train", whilst the rest will remember "The Maid", so it's a win-win!!

I actually didn't pay attention to the mascot... I didn't even know they had one lol
I went in there a few times when I was in Japan since I love electronics and anime merchandise... omg that place is huge and has everything!
But, didn't buy anything... since those smaller stores down in Akihabara are sometimes somewhat cheaper if you look for bargains.
Just wondering... can foreigners get Point cards. When I was purchasing items they always asked if I had one?
And the maid is holding one!
train = maid !!!!

A below-average chibi-maid implementation. One would have thought with the number of otaku and mascot artists in Japan, they would have managed to get something less stunted. She has no neck!

Although, while in Akiba I prefered the various more indie type stores, and sofmap. I think I only went in Yodobashi once [to use the toilet] then got a bit distracted by figma and gunpla of course XD
I liked the one in Umeda, Osaka tons and tons though.

I like the Yamanote line train but the maid is cool too. I think that the train was supposed to show how both Yodobashi's Tokyo stores were on the Yamanote line and connected by the Sobu Chou lines as represented by the green circle with the yellow and red stripe.

I went there a few times mostly for the restaurants on the (7th? floor).
Don't like it there too much because it is too crowded and noisy all the time. Plus, there's always English speaking Japanese folks asking for money for causes by the enterance.
I love the place! The first time I was in Japan I spent a few tens of thounsand of Yen at different branches. My favourite is the one in Shinjuku, it's not as big as the one at Akihabara, but the things they have there is a little different too.
The local closest equivalent is Mustafa Shopping center, they have everything there too, except tobacco and alcohor. Best part is, it's 24Hrs.
I wish Yodobashi Camera could be 24Hrs too.
