Anime Training DVD

I bet a lot more people will be motivated to exercise when this training video comes out later this month.
The training instructor is Hinako-chan who will not only go over squatting, pushups and stomach exercises but will also do it in different costumes! I'm expecting sukumizu and maid to be in there. Now you will never get board watching exercise videos.

The DVD is called Isshoni Training (いっしょにとれーにんぐ) and is available at Amazon for 1,890 yen.

Original text from ale/pepino below.

New anime DVD released for otaku who (would like to) care about their physical shape.

Big eyed Hinako will train with you. 16 years old, 1.65 m, 48 kg, light, healthy, loves sports and loves anime too!
Originally a human, was turned into an anime character during junior high 2nd year.
Usually performs as a friend of the main character or other minor casts.

I know that keeping fit is very important. But if Otakus in japan really need this to motivate themselves to exercise its gonna be really really sad.

Agreed. Getting motivated to exercise by a anime character is rather depressing. What happened to good old focus and mental motivation? I guess "sex sells".

True, true. It's probably not going to last long anyways. It's like all those otakus buying guitars because they saw K-on! It's not genuine motivation, truly sad.

I am guessing that the music instrument makers were anticipating that K-on would help boost their sales indirectly. Here's to hoping that some of these otakus have a hidden talent in music.

They'll probably give up within a week or so. Even if they do keep going, most will play anime songs, and I'm sorry, being able to play the K-on! op/ed is nothing to be proud about. They'll probably use K-on! as a source of reference for music too, believing that Jeff Beck is the best guitarist. Hell no, Page, Iommi, Hammett, and Hendrix are much better.

I'll let Beck slide since it’s a different sort of incentive compared to K-on. Beck did it well, K-on is just moe with no real emphasis on the music.

Actually, I think the spark of motivation is extremely important. Plus starting slow, and learning new exercises over a period of 30 days is not a bad idea. Sure there's some fanservice, but really, is that something so new and unseen? I think starting fitness in the comfort of one's home, with training lessons from an anime character that is familiar and friendly to an otaku, and setting up the groundworks of fitness over 30 days, is MUCH better than walking cluelessly into a gym, and becoming greatly overwhelmed by all the bodybuilders, feeling like a wimp for not being able to curl 30 pounds, next to the lady who's pumping 50, and quitting and retreating on the first day.

I had a similar problem, my friends trained me too hard on my first day, and caused me to tear my muscles, or over-train by running too fast and too long, causing stress in my heart. When a video game called Wii Fit hit the market, I was first in line for the package. A mere video game has helped me set up my workout schedule and style, and I have kept up a nice exercise beat ever since. If this anime can help others like Wii Fit did for me, I'm all for it.

I think this might open a market for anime gravure videos, but the impression I get on the quality of this one DVD doesn't make me even think of getting it. I also have a feeling I wouldn't train even if I got it for free.

I think a show like Dragon Ball Z would have motivated me to weight train if I didn't already, because the ripped bodies of Goku and the like would have made me feel inadequate if I was out of shape. Although nowadays, anime characters are designed by groups like Clamp who make them impossibly slender and thin. Although the new FMA and Major Armstrong are bringing muscle fabulous back into anime.

Ha! I usually do sit ups, push-ups and 10 mins on a fitness bike every night (no time in the morning) while watching anime. This will totally get me in the mood! Do want.

It is sad that otaku may get this for motivation in Japan, but its not like its any different any other place in the world. We have fitness games on the Nintendo systems now anyways.

Ecchi, as it appeals to prurient interest without being explicit.

Hentai would be....well, let's just say that copulation carries with it benefits related to exercise such as lowering blood pressure and improving cardiovascular health, strengthening certain muscles, burning calories, relieving stress, boosting of the immune system, and helping with sleep.

    Nice character design. XD

On the other hand though, I think it would take more than just squats, pushups, and others exercises of like kind to change one's body shape. Wouldn't going for a run around the neighbourhood do better? :/

Interesting idea ;p. Now if they had one with some of my favorite female anime characters then I might be a little more interested in getting this item.

This looks awsome, but I dont think I would be exercising while watching this, she is very kawaii though. What confuses me perhaps most is that, if this is directed toward men to get into shape, it seems a bit odd that the instructor would be a woman. As a man, I wouldnt want to be doing exercises instructed by a female simply because I would not want to achieve a feminine physique.

This is SOOOO much better than Wii Fit. Keep in mind live action exercise videos with hot girls in them have been selling exercise with sex appeal for years, this is just reaching a new market.

But it's so SAD that otaku will only exercise with this...

Well, actually, from personal experience, I've come to notice that one positive change can lead to other positive changes. Otaku might actually start exercising on their own, who knows? But then again, adversely, one negative change, can also lead to more negative changes.
