Wow. That's like, a closet.....
I still live with my folks so my house is quite spacious, and also my own room is quite ok sofar.

I'll take the apartment that I can afford to rent if I work or study in Japan, that kind of kitchen makes me somehow not comfortable even the toilet...

That's really small...... I don't mind living in that house if I get to work in Japan though ^^;
The further you are from the station, the better it is to get a Itachari to ride to the station ^^

It would surely suck. My bedroom in the UK is just about twice the size of that room. Got to move out of that place by the summer as the conditions are not that great.

I dunno if I can live in such a small room. I don't really mind trading room space with distance from the station. I enjoy walking anyway so it isn't really a bother to me if I have to walk 18 minutes x_x

i noticed that, living in sydney and having a 2nd floor makes you walk stairs etc. but in Japan, my room which was basically as small if not smaller than the one posted above, made me gain weight cause everything was just so accessible :D

fridge is next to kitchen which has a bathroom behind it which is also a shower unit. the same corridor to get to the door is the kitchen as well lol

:o that is really small. My first flat in barcelona was big in comparison to that! and was only 25m2 >_< luckily I moved few months ago :) I would prefer to have a shared toilet/kitchen and have more space in the bedroom...

It's a tad smaller than some of the single student rooms for the college students where I grew up at but bigger than the bedroom apartments in two and three story homes that had been converted to boarding houses.

My family ( wife and daughter ) and I just moved from a very very spacious two bedroom duplex into a somewhat cramped 3 bedroom house that my father owns to take care of him in his declining health. The master bedroom in our old place would allow for three queen size beds side by side with two at the foot of the three length wise and you could still walk around all 5 and open the double walk in closet and get out the door easily. My daughter's room was a little smaller than that while the single bathroom was a little smaller than what I would have liked along with the kitchen we still had a full sized oven stove with full sized refridgerator along with full size washer and drier. The living room accommodated a full size L shaped couch plus entertainment center for a 40 inch flat panel tv with home theater receiver plus a recliner along with a filing cabinet and a danny sized computer desk and a dining table with four chairs and it has a fireplace that works. Parking allowed for two vehicles while the back yard was spacious and half forested for a total lot size of 1/3 an acre. Our monthly rental fee was $450 US currency.

I'll sleep with my legs folded in there, haha

Well, the rental in Japan already is pretty expensive, I can see why these unit are still rentable by the bachelors.

I wouldn't be able to live in such a cramped area as I hail from a suburban area with spacious areas. That longer walk is fine too if it means I get a larger place for the same or less cost. Interior wouldn't have to be fancy either, generic toilet is a-ok with me, the way I like em. But atleast it has a window..

It's too small,even if i'm living in tokyo,i'd rather rent an apartment a bit far from downtown with a decent price and bigger room

Well, 50,000 JPY a month is about 350 UKP - you wouldn't get a leaky garage for that in this country, let alone a fully fitted flat. It's just very, very small.

We got lucky and found a bigger apartment in Switzerland, but most seem to be relatively small.
Still cant believe how tiny it is!!

I'm used to living in small places and have lived in really really big places as well. Rent down here where I live for a 1 bedroom flat is like 200-250 AUD which is pretty crazy right now. Tokyo's pretty cheap compared to here and some of the places are not as clean or new as that, except that bathroom/shower is hella small.

Atleast rent is cheap. Some places around here have the same amount of space for double the rent.

I consider my house as spacious as compared to my friends'. However, all the stuff that i bought make my room looks cramped.

It's even smaller than my living place now... Mine one require a 15 minutes walks from Yamanote Line but it's more spacious than the one showned above.

I still live with my parents and our house has three floors(basement, living room/kitchen/dining room, and upstairs(bedrooms). I guess you can call it spacious living but it's not like I live in a mansion or anything. Now the apartment that is shown is like a box. I can't imagine living in something like that!

Only thing was, the floorspace was about the size of a snooker table (inc bathroom). I don't think anyone could beat that!!

didn't have a living room in my apartment so I took out the kitchen and made it into the living room, but you can get a sense how small my place is to not have a living room

I can't even begin to imagine how to bathe in that puny toilet. Looks like those toilets you find on a plane. And I thought mine was small...

18 minutes seems fair for a walk. I walk about 20 minutes to the closest mrt station everyday, and I could walk another route (about 25-30 minutes) to get to a more convenient station...

But staying with my relative and paying cheap cheap rent, plus this way I get regular exercise, so no complaints from me (except when I wake up late ^_^;;).

Right now, where I'm living (in a house), it's fairly average. It's not as large as many of my other friends' houses, but it certainly isn't a shack.

I have rooms in my condo that almost never get used. As soon as my stepson turns 18 and moves out, I plan on moving into a smaller home. At the very least, it will be quicker to clean!

Too small, feels really cramped as if you can't even bring anything with you to live there. Would rather go look for a more decent one if I was deciding to rent an apartment there.

Having the toilet and sink with the shower in that small of space seems like a giant invitation for mold! It doesn't look like there is any ventilation/window. Gross :(

The kitchen in my last apartment was about twice the size of that whole apartment. In the US jail cells that small are considered cruel and unusual punishment.

Hmm bathrooms in my house also didnt separate the toilet and shower, though they are a little bit bigger. I think most of the apartment in Malaysia got similar kinds of bathroom.

Given the fact that Tokyo's property prices are bloody expensive, it might be not that surprising, but just what make this awfully tiny room cost that much? because it's very close to train stations or because it's right in the middle of the business district?

I don't think i can survive living there for even a week... it would definitely be better to find a larger room with reasonable price...

I always find it weird that apartments are called mansions in Japan. Next fall I'll be living in a small apartment too. No more dorms for me.

Was looking around apartment / mansion in tokyo before too just for in case if we're thinking to live in japan. Prices are definitely more ex if its in tokyo & nearer to the stations... so gotta prepare to pay like 55,000 - 100,000 yen per month to get a decent & spacious one ^^;

Well, I've always wondered if I could fit a washroom/shower and a small kitchen here so I didn't have to leave the room. Seeing as to how my room is actually bigger than that apartment, I'd say it's quite possible.

Well I'm too spoiled by my childhood home...my parents own a house that the three of us live in occasionally...

It's 7,000 square feet.

For reference, I had 3 bedrooms, a kitchen, a bathroom, a living room, a hallway, and a formal dining room all to myself.

It was very nice to have so much space.

But then again I preferred hanging out in the basement which had a bathroom, a chemistry lab, a fairly large main room, an office, and two smaller storage rooms. The smallest of these (the office) was probably bigger than the apartment above.

Heck, even the student housing I lived in when I went to Austria was much bigger than this.

^_^; it actually looks pretty nice, i used to live in a place about that size, everyone always looked at me funny cause it was so small but it was nice and comfortable (except the WC -_- was very small)

For $500? No where near worth it. $150's more like it.

yeah it might be a pretty depressing place to live in for a few years but i dont think anyone expects to call it home for ever... maybe it's a transitional space while you save or get a better job position... i wouldnt mind living there for a year or two, honestly. then of course i'd look for a house like yours danny :D

The only thing this place would be good for is sleeping off an all nighter because you wouldn't care if it's comfortable and you there's not need to crawl to the bathroom, it's so close.
