Tokyo Figure Show Report title=

The Tokyo Figure Show (Good Smile Company x Danny Choo) has kicked off to a great start! The event started yesterday and runs through to 6PM this Sunday in Harajuku.

Tokyo Figure Show Report title=

My lovely Mirai-chan. I'll probably get a few free and buy a ton from Amazon or something ^^;

Tokyo Figure Show Report title=

The original illustrator for Mirai-chan is Azami Yuko who also came along yesterday. We are both still in a state of disbelief that our creation got the figamatization treatment.

Sensei has been busy with work and has not had time to update her burogu but she occasionally uploads to her Pixiv account.

Tokyo Figure Show Report title=

The original April Fools version had the same pose which I'm starting to call the "Mirai Pose" ^^;
Was playing with my Figma Seto Sun who looks the closest to Mirai in terms of hair and clothes - giving her the Mirai Pose ^^;

Hmmm. Maybe the April Fools red version can be a limited run or something ^^; Dont think anybody would want it.

Tokyo Figure Show Report title=

I thought this was going to be the Decoration Master but it is not. The pre-production version will be redone and tweaked.

Mmmmm. Mirai has nicely shaped eyes.

Tokyo Figure Show Report title=

Will have to make her ahoge out of soft material so that it doesn't break off in our pockets ^^;

Tokyo Figure Show Report title=

I accidentally tripped and saw Mirai-chans pantsu. If you want to see what color then you will have to go and have a look.
Maybe we should do orange shimapan for the final version ^^;

Tokyo Figure Show Report title=

Thanks again to Chun for whipping together the pop art that is displayed behind Mirai-chan.
The original is up on Flickr - 150dpi and good for a high quality print up to A1.

Tokyo Figure Show Report title=

When you get to H&M, go up to the 9th floor. This is the reception you will be greeted by. Morrigan greets you with her huge huge eyes.

Tokyo Figure Show Report title=

The Good Smile Company catch phrase for the events they host - "Wonderful Hobby Life For You." Oda-san in the background tweaking the display. Oda-san is the guy who painted Mirai-chan for us.

Tokyo Figure Show Report title=

Figma Miku keeps Figma Mirai company.

Tokyo Figure Show Report title=

The absolutely gorgeous Max Factory Tamaki Kousaka. Has to be the best figure I've seen of her to date. Gorgeous eyes (both pairs).

Tokyo Figure Show Report title=

Black Rock Shooter out this month.

Tokyo Figure Show Report title=

World Is Mine Miku.

Tokyo Figure Show Report title=

Out any day now - GSC Saber.

Tokyo Figure Show Report title=

Saber Lily Nendoroid.

Tokyo Figure Show Report title=

GSC Canaan.

Tokyo Figure Show Report title=

Folks who attend the TFS will get free bottles of Vitamin Water. I've been drinking a lot lately ^^;

Tokyo Figure Show Report title=

SOS Dan.

Tokyo Figure Show Report title=

Lucky Star.
The reason why we have displayed previous releases is because we want folks who are new to the figure world to discover the beautiful and fun world of figurines. Most of the stuff that they see can easily be purchased.

Tokyo Figure Show Report title=

Here we tried to match the colors of the figures with Vitamin Water.

Tokyo Figure Show Report title=

I love these figure displays! We rented these as they would cost a bomb to buy.

Tokyo Figure Show Report title=

The read heads go here.

Tokyo Figure Show Report title=

The figure rack thingy can be screwed together in anyway you want.

Tokyo Figure Show Report title=

The Saber platform.

Tokyo Figure Show Report title=

I turn up in armor from time to time. Have met a load of DC headers so far - thank you all for coming!

Tokyo Figure Show Report title=

Cant stop looking at and taking photos of Mirai-chan!

Tokyo Figure Show Report title=

Depending on the time of day, it may be empty or packed but you will usually have enough space to take photos. Some of the decoration masters will change from time to time.

Tokyo Figure Show Report title=

Feel free to take the postcards that you will find dotted around the displays.

Tokyo Figure Show Report title=

A most excellent location for our first event - the 8th and 9th floor of this building ^^;
We went up to the roof too which looks like a film set - incredible 360 views of Tokyo - will post in a separate article.

Tokyo Figure Show Report title=

Thought we'd take a look at the making-of. This was taken the night before. The shelves still being set up with boxes all over the place.

Tokyo Figure Show Report title=

This is how GSC generally keep their stock of figures for events.

Tokyo Figure Show Report title=

Maru Gallery prepared this pop for me but its a wee bit embarrassing ^^;

Tokyo Figure Show Report title=

Which is why I put this together the night before instead - a collection of photos that represent dannychoo.com.

I uploaded the original to Flickr which is 150dpi and can be printed on anything up to A1 - feel free to print and throw darts at it.

Hmmmm. Wondering what it would look like on a t-shirt? (without my name on the bottom)

Tokyo Figure Show Report title=

This box contains the decoration master for Black Rock Shooter.

Tokyo Figure Show Report title=

The night before the show was the first time I saw the Mirai Figma - on Oda-sans mobile.

Tokyo Figure Show Report title=

For some reason, GSC has a load of good looking sculptors. Oda-san and Kodama-san on the right. Kodama-san is actually Nendoron - he does most of your Nendoroids.

Tokyo Figure Show Report title=

Shooting forward to the morning before the show. More decoration masters have arrived.

Tokyo Figure Show Report title=

The postcards that we are giving out.

Tokyo Figure Show Report title=

When I discovered that the postcards had a protective purple film between them, my expression turned to that of Zetsubou Sensei pictured here.

Tokyo Figure Show Report title=

And this was the first time I saw Figma Mirai in the flesh.

Tokyo Figure Show Report title=

This could not possibly happened without you - thank you all!
And yes - I thank the trolls too who keep trashing me on their blogs and other boards because whether they like it or not - they are actually helping in promoting my brand which contributes to milestones in life like this. Muhahaha.

It was you the reader who helped me learn that trollage and bad publicity is still free publicity.
If you are the subject of trollage, just remember - the trolls can only do bad for themselves and do good for you. Just think about it - a troll cant be doing too well in life to have the time to trash others. Unless they have not realized that life is short and time is too precious to spend hating others.

Tokyo Figure Show Report title=

With the GSC team - Otsukaresama desu!

Just realized that I forgot to include some pics of me prepping stuff - quickly added to figure.fm.

Tokyo Figure Show Report title=

Get off at Meiji Jingu Mae or JR Harajuku on the Yamanote line and ask for directions from anybody. "Sumimasen, H&M wa doko desu ka?"

Tokyo Figure Show Report title=

Sometimes you may see this white shiny thing appear from time to time at the entrance.

Tokyo Figure Show Report title=

And this is our gorgeous view - Shinjuku in the background. Thank you Tokyo for being just awesome. I love this job.

If you are interested in reading about life in Japan, seeing photos taken daily around Tokyo, like Japanese subculture (anime, manga, figures, Dollfies) then you may want to start delving into the Japan or Figure categories for a start or have a gander at all photo articles.

If you don't have much time now, maybe subscribe to the RSS Feed, Twitter Feed or join the other readers in the FaceBook Page.
Alternatively, you may want to read more about the site.

    Lovely images of TFS. Soo many Nendoroids and Figmas(With another one on it's way! Mirai~) on display. It is pretty interesting to get a view into the workings which happen to make the event turn out how it does. But wow, protective film in between postcard handout? Very fancy indeed.
    Decoration masters have indeed done a very nice job, I especially like how the colours are put together, red bottle with predominately red figure infront etc.
    The GCG Canaan is a very tempting purchase, but of course Figma Mirai will be the hot thing around now!
    Those display frames look really nice, platforms included to put figures on. Do you happen to know what frames they are and possible location to pick myself up some?

    I've been thinking about it since the initial post of the painted figma Mirai earlier this week, and I think I may want to purchase more than one of her. I'm tempted to try my hand at custom painting her pallate swaps, as well as having head swap fun with my other figmas ^^ Can we say Cheer Girl Mirai? Or maybe SOS-dan danchou Mirai? I foresee lots of fun for DC.com figma collectors in our future ^^

    Congrats! Looks like a wonderful show and you're having fun too.

    All the figures are art pieces to me, although some people may say it's just a toy...
    I have a couple of figma and nendoroid myself, mostly Haruhi and gang, and when I see them up close they really look wonderful.
    Kudos to Oda-san,Kodama-san and the rest of the team who bring us such great figures!

    Btw where the figure racks from? Can we get it online?
    Really like the customability. Can join it up as a shelf or change it into a table.

    Max Factory Tamaki Kousaka is absolutely fenomenal! definitely her best figure rendition so far~

    Nagimiso-san's VN02 has incredible eyes too, very delicious!!

    The figure rack looks amazing, actually.

    An you mean "red heads" ^^;

    The protective film is evil indeed ^^; Had a similar experience once, but it was with 3,000 pages worth of text~

    Great coverage and so excited about mirai chan! Congratz! hard work, networking, and being yourself is definitely the key. Hope to find/make my calling soon. I am glad to see there are folks out there who appreciate people for their true selves. Could not even begin to imagine a mirai nendoroid! It's a good idea but will I probably black out by the sheer level of moeness!

    Wow, Mirai looks even better in this set of photos. I agree with her having nice eyes.
    Looking forward to seeing what accessories she will have. Personally, I'd like to see these 2 items for sure: Dolphin Animal plushie and Haruka Dakimakura. Seeing some of the 4 Koma strips on this site, these would be perfect.

    Miku figures look great as well. I might get a closed eyed Good Smile Miku figure (not figma) if I can find one for a non-outrageous price on the second hand market. In my opinion, she looks better this way. Think I saw her in a commercial like this while waiting in line for WonHobby 9. Beautiful.

    Great to see things are all falling into place - figma mirai looks great! Even though my otaku powers are more or less faded, and i dont buy poseable figures, i will definately buy a figma mirai to support you!

    Nice to see vitamin water is infiltrating japan too - i really like the stuff. To be honest, the brand will need a lot of luck over there, as japan already has a lot of mild, watery drinks with mineral, vitamin and energy-giving properties!

    Love that last shot. Its making me want to get a new camera already as i know my brand new powershot SX200 wont be able to do anything that good...

    I got nosebleeds looking at figma Mirai! I want to buy one right now!!! LOL XD

    I really like those figure shelves. The figures look like they're on stage! Man, I hope they sell them here in my country.

    image ID#27601: Why is that photo so embarrassing... oh... I see LOL XD

    image ID#27602: You should go ahead and make a t-shirt with that picture on it! I'm gonna buy one if you do XD

    image ID#27614: Tokyo is probably the most attractive city I've seen. I'm not saying this because of the fact that it is in Japan. For me, this is what a modern city should look like.

    Looks like alot of fun. Would be great to see all those figures in one shot. Speaking of which, what happens to all the figures that aren't deco masters or glued for display after the show? They for me?? ^^

    Fortunately, I'm halfway there as I got an order in lst minute with Tokyo Hunter to get the limited edition Miku. Now, I must wait :( I hate wait :(

    But, congrats on the figmatization of Mirai. I can only imagine how that's gotta feel to see her like that.

        I would have gone already if I know there was one. They have a Toy Fair, but that's mostly western comic/video game action figures. Not much anime. Anime conventions doesn't really have figure displays, only at the vendors booth which isn't too many either. I'd love to see what they do in Malaysia, displaying figures that people own and volunteer them to be displayed for everyone to see, in the North America region.

        I've not seen anything like this at all for anime figures in the US, even at anime conventions. I imagine it would cost a lot of money for the Japanese companies to come over to display at one of the big anime conventions here (AnimeExpo or Otakon), but it would be great if they could. Be interesting to see the hand finished versions of the figures in person.

        I've not really seen any figure panels at any of the conventions I've been to. I will try to think of something that could be done as a figure panel for next year's conventions. Not sure about what exactly it would be like though.

    The Mirai figma looks fantastic! I was actually in Japan at the time, but I was in Kyoto, so I couldn't go. I wish I could have seen the show in person, but these photos are still great.

    Mirai is on my purchase list, will oversea collectors have their chance on this? The T-shirt idea is great, sure will support it if it releases.
