Went along with comrades from the web2.0 Tokyo scene to attend Tokyo Transformers Night held at The IMAX cinema at Lazona in Kanagawa.

In this photo we have:-
Zuco Pietro (+waifu) - Linux Specialist (AXA), Photographer.
Joseph Tame - Pod Caster, Photographer.
Frankiebit - Journalist, Tech Specialist.
JonnyLi - Photographer.
Steven Nagata - Photographer, Tech Specialist, Writer.
Mika Ueno - Pro Investor Relations & Corporate Marketing, Photographer.
iMorpheus - Photographer.
Ryan Pipkin - Sales Executive, Entrepreneur.
Florian Von Bock - Software Dev.
Danny Choo - Grass Cutter (Mirai Inc)

For those who are planning to watch Transformers "Revenge of the Fallen" - bring spare underwear - at least 20 pairs. Its that good! Have still not seen Star Trek to compare yet but Transformers is a must see for Sci-Fi fans.

Transformers Revenge Japan title=

On the way into the cinema they gave us this certificate to show that we were the first to watch the first public screening of Transformers Revenge in the world ^^;

Transformers Revenge Japan title=

Zooming back in time to the end of the office day. Been working on the figure.fm relaunch. Here is the avatar creation screen. Now you dont need to worry about making your own - just upload any image and drag/resize the box.
UI needs a bit of work.

Transformers Revenge Japan title=

Just before six, some of the lads come over. I take the opportunity to get rid of my unwanted rubbish - I mean useful stuff.

Ryan in my chair came over to Tokyo as part of the Geeks on a plane tour - Tokyo, Shanghai and Beijing - Tech company visits and networking.

Transformers Revenge Japan title=

Then its off by car to Kanagawa - about 30 mins drive.

Transformers Revenge Japan title=

T'was a lovely evening's drive while listening to Ridge Racer R4.

Transformers Revenge Japan title=

Was just before 6pm so the roads where relatively clear.

Transformers Revenge Japan title=

Arrival at Lazona - a huge shopping complex that opened recently-ish.

Transformers Revenge Japan title=

At Bic Camera to check out the transformers goodies.

Transformers Revenge Japan title=

Mass produced so the quality in terms of detail isn't really there - looks decent though. Would probably look better with some weathering.

Transformers Revenge Japan title=

Was thinking of picking this up. Want to spray it gloss white and wear it with my armor - TransTrooper ^^;
The Bumblebee voice mixer below.

There is also Bumblebee's plasma cannon which looks quite good if painted to match my armor - love the recoil action.
The helmet available at Amazon.com for 44USD and the Plasma Cannon also available from Amazon for 39 USD.

Transformers Revenge Japan title=

Have you seen these Robo Q robots before? The worlds smallest robots with some sort of intelligence apparently. Steve Nagata just happened to have one on him. You can control them with the remote and if they spot obstacles they they will walk around it. 3,150 yen.

Transformers Revenge Japan title=

After looking around in Bic Camera, its time to look for dindins.

Transformers Revenge Japan title=

Didnt have time to explore this time round.

Transformers Revenge Japan title=

Prawn with menchi katsu. Delicious.

Transformers Revenge Japan title=

T'was one of the more traditional places where you get a bowl to crush your nuts. Sesame nuts.

Transformers Revenge Japan title=

Dinner done and as we near 8pm, we hear more Transformer noises. How would you spell the transforming noise? I make it out to be something like Kuewchukukukoo ^^;

Transformers Revenge Japan title=

Optimus Prime and Bumblebee in sight! So thats what the Pyramid was all about! Opens officially tomorrow. When does it open in your neck of the woods?

Transformers Revenge Japan title=

Grabbing some grub.

Transformers Revenge Japan title=

I've heard a lot about these IMAX cinemas and didn't expect too much apart from a bigger screen - completely exceeded my expectations.
The screen is a bit curved and the whole cinema rumbled with the explosions - a completely different experience and well worth it.

If you are tempted to watch a cam version then don't - you will completely ruin the experience for yourself. You should feel most satisfied with the money you pay to see this flick. Our seats were 2,000 yen each.

Transformers Revenge Japan title=

In the first film, we had to watch until half way though until we saw Transformers action - in Revenge - its right from the beginning - a ton of it! Trailer 1 below.

Transformers Revenge Japan title=

This time round, there are many varieties of Transformers - many surprises in store. The things that they can transform into are very surprising indeed ^^;

I did find some of the action hard to see - combination of the fact that the screen was huge and that you had to move your head left n right to catch the action, and also because of the designs of the transformers - some of the battle scenes ended up looking like scrap clumps of metal flying about - hard to distinguish what was what at times.
Trailer 2 below.

Transformers Revenge Japan title=

The battle in Eygpt was full of intense action. They had this huuuge Decepticon which was formed by many construction vehicles. Optimus Primes extra "Super Parts" where kinda Macross-esqe.

Not going to talk much about the plot but I loved it - liked this one more than the first as we were blessed with Transformer action from the start. The film is 2 hours and 40 mins but never has those boring bits so you are pretty much wide awake for the whole show.

Many laughs to be had too - LOL at "Humping Decepticon" ^^;;
Would love to watch again but this time sitting further away from the screen so that I can catch any action that I missed.

Cant wait for the 3rd film...

          VERDICT - 80% explosions and special effects, 20% threads of barely resolved plot. not looking forward to sequel/s. >.<;

    Wow~ Transformers in IMAX is awesome!

    A certificate for the viewers too, that's so cool! I'll be watching the Malaysia premier on the coming Monday evening.

    Transformers toys will look superb after paint & weathering. Will show you the sample soon.

    LOL! I been playing with the Optimus Prime & Bumblebee helmet+truck gun/cannon for the whole month~~~

    2 hours & 40 mins of pure awesomeness, I gonna enjoy it every bits.

    Probably should wear a diaper to avoid missing some action while having to go to the rest room~~~

    So there's indeed a 3rd film coming out from what I had been tipped by UIP ^_^

    Was dissapointed with it as i've just come back from seeing it at my local cinema, the plot was paper thin really and although the action brought it back up from a low score (Giant Robots juking it out with each other, what's not to like?!?! lol) it wasn't enough to get it over an average rating :/ (Which pains me to say that, I've grown up with Transformers)

    I'm giving it a 3/5

The Best Buy that I work at (BBY# 553 in Miami) has claimed the team name of Transformers for our district, so as a special meeting, we're having it at the premiere. Well, about Optimus Prime looking Macross-esque, the original transformer toy line, was a mix of other transformable toys, including some VF Strikers from Macross. There is a character in this movie, that was this VF model, but due to concerns about the whole macross copyright thing in america, they made it look like something else :/

    Can't wait to see it! And you should see Star Trek too, it's worth it as well.

    When I looked at the trailers, some of the action scenes did look just like pieces of scrap metal flying around the screen, twas confusing. The movie will be releasing in 24 of June in Malaysia T_T and I can't wait for it. I think this is the best adaption from an anime ever.

    I always wonder Japan always have the most beautiful design and vividly lighted shopping complex. I just love the lighting they put and use.

    I just hope they don't spend an hour without a single transformer, introducing the human characters no one cares about.

    >_> And don't get me started on the product placement and random army montage. Why is the army even in the movie? I don't remember the army ever being able to do anything to any Transformer.

    Oh yeah, because Micheal Bay loves the army waaaaaaaaay too much, and is convinced everyone else loves them.

    Good to hear that you thought it was better than the first movie. Thinking back on the first one, it's a good popcorn flick, but I really dislike how Michael Bay shoots action shots. Unfortunately, this looks like much of the same as well, though at least the action starts early.

    Well, I watched it today, and I think you hit the nail on the head. Brilliant film, plenty of action and straight from the get-go this time around. I loved it! <3

    Personal highlights included "Decipticon humping" and Jetfire's random rants ("Oh bollocks.") Very enjoyable overall, can't wait for the third! xD

    Wow.. one of the first to watch the show? ^^

    Screening for it only starts on the 24th of June here. Movie tickets in Japan seem to be really expensive haha. A ticket here only costs about RM 11 which is around USD 3.

    There is only one IMAX theater over here. Haven't been to it though.

    I'm skipping this movie much like I did with the first one. To me, this is just another live action giant robot movie. I personally feel that it would have still fared well if they went with the storyline but did not base the characters on the Transformers franchise. But unlike "Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within", this movie is not hindered by saying it is a franchise-based movie when, in fact, it has nothing to do with said franchise. (Side note: That Final Fantasy movie should have been called "The Spirits Within" or something like that, remove the cliche plot ending, and they could have made a new franchise.)

    But with Transformers, as a franchise, I think I will personally look for the G1 and maybe the Robots in Disguise stuff at this time. That is, if I can get back into it all. Because there is nothing better than Dinobots, Headmasters, and the like. :3

    I loved most of it. Especially the ACTION. I'm a sucker for that, and my GOD SURROUND SOUND IS EPIC with that movie. Amazing effects.
    It may be the first movie I'll see twice at the cinemas~

    Transformers was awesome!! ^^ I hope everyone else enjoyed it as much as I did and I think it may have topped the first one. Action was awesome, interesting story, and the sound and music went really well. I bet there will be a third and if so, I hope it will be just as good as this one. (or even better)

    Ciao!!

    i agree with you, it deserves the 15$.
    also the action was a bit confusing, couldn't tell which part is which, or what kinda move is the autobot doing on the decepticon, slow motion was only applied on Megan Fox ;)
    but again, the movie was m-azin ^^

    I'm with you!
    The only move that I remembered well is the moviment of the Megan fox's Breats at the first plane all the movie! I don't criticize it, but I payed for see a big mechanical weapons fighting each other,no to see Megan's Fox jumping all the movie.
    But there is no other way, so this movie is an action movie, robot movie, maked clearly for guys to guys....
