The second part of the Dolls Party also known as "Dollpa."
Today we look at the "Tea space" where folks bring their sons and daughters along to display, chat, have tea and take photos. The space also enables ones children to meet new friends too.

First up is the lovely Saber who looks good in anything!

Dollpa title=

I asked the parent of this Saber where he got the costume and he told me it was made by Azone which I promptly went out to acquire - currently worn by Ryomo.

Dollpa title=

Saber Alter in Kimono.

Dollpa title=

Some girls in goth type dresses.

Dollpa title=

I think this is Mikuru but could be Yuki.

Dollpa title=

Haruhi as Rin. I dropped my Nendorid Rin today which was annoying.

Dollpa title=

Taiga Dollfie.

Dollpa title=

Cant remember the character name but think shes from August.

Dollpa title=

A load of Erika Sendo.

Dollpa title=

Nice costume. Monster Hunter?

Dollpa title=

Another Monster Hunter?

Dollpa title=

Komaki ready to hunt you down and impale you on her horn.

Dollpa title=

A load of shenanigans going on here.

Dollpa title=

Lucky dog.

Dollpa title=

Looks like she just pooed out a head.

Dollpa title=

Saber in a loli kimono.

Dollpa title=

Saber looking sweet as usual. Does she never have an off day?

Dollpa title=

This girl belongs to Suuji who also done the makeup.

Dollpa title=

China dress Saber.

Dollpa title=

Sabers ahoge has been eaten.

Dollpa title=

Will probably stick to natural color hair for my daughters for now. I've seen darker hair colors leave stains.

Dollpa title=

Yukino wants to slice you.

Dollpa title=

Kagami wanders off and I find her having her pics taken 20 mins later.

Dollpa title=

I'll pick up a brush at the next wonfes - some doll dealers will be there.

Dollpa title=

Hadoken?

Dollpa title=

For our loli fans.

Dollpa title=

May not be a surprise but the male dolls had mostly female parents and the female dolls had mostly male parents.

Dollpa title=

Haruhi as Nagi.

Dollpa title=

If you are going to bring along your dollfies to a show, I recommend that you go with a few comrades so that at least one person can look after the table. Very unlikely that your children will be kidnapped but still best to have a guardian around at all times.

Dollpa title=

Love the colors of this dress on Kotori.

Dollpa title=

Many daughters carried weapons.

Dollpa title=

Tamaki as Nanoha with Saber as Fate.

Dollpa title=

Either a Yuki or Mikuru head I think.

Dollpa title=

While the event was mostly a Dollfie one, some folks brought other varieties too. I think these are of the 25cm variety?

Dollpa title=

Looks like the girls are having a good time.

Dollpa title=

Mamachapp girls.

Dollpa title=

Want that jacket!

Dollpa title=

Looks like Kotori.

Dollpa title=

Nice eyes.

Dollpa title=

Checking up on Kagami who has made quite a few friends.

Dollpa title=

Some nunchucks which I forgot to pick up - 500 yen each.

Dollpa title=

At the Minmei Koubo stand. Looks like this chap has his handful with two daughters and a son.

Dollpa title=

Bush having a session of being treaded on by pink rubber boots.

Dollpa title=

Mr Stark hits onto one of the girls from ToHeart.

Dollpa title=

This chap is from Superman? He looks content.

Dollpa title=

Obama gets together with wots his name.

Dollpa title=

The white claws reach out for its prey and holds it in place until the photos are taken.

Dollpa title=

Some more Dollfie food. Mc Dees morning pancakes.

Dollpa title=

Curry Pan - not sure if thats 2,500 yen for one or the whole tray. "Pan" in Japanese means Bread.

Dollpa title=

How about some lovely coffee for your daughters?

Dollpa title=

Nothing beats some traditional Japanese tempura - deep fried prawns n veggies on rice.

Dollpa title=

Some more food stuffs to make sure your daughters never go hungry.

Dollpa title=

Some in-the-middle-of-eating stuff too. Kinda reminds me of my recent health test where I had to extract some poo.

Dollpa title=

The last few pics were taken at after the Doll Show where I spent some time with Taitan talking about online communities and what have you. Still wondering if the relaunch of figure.fm should include dolls or whether I should set up a separate doll only community.

So, ever since I discovered the world of Dollfies, I want to write more about them as I find them incredibly interesting - just like when I discovered figurines.

I still like figurines and certainly wont be giving up on them anytime soon as I still appreciate them as a form of art and also because my work is heavily involved with them. Besides, they arrive every week on the doorstep from my sponsors ^^;

However, lately I do tend to take more interest in Dollfies which have much more customization options - wig, eyes (both pairs), body parts, clothes, accessories and what have you. There is also a certain attachment to them just as if they are...daughters ^^;

Just like I still get complaints about figurine content, I've noticed complaints about the dollfie content too.
For the most part, I write about what interests me and not about what I think the reader may be interested in. I think this has been key to growing the readership of dannychoo.com. I enjoy what I write about and am glad that others can read, enjoy and relate to the topics that I share.
I do find it interesting that some folks continue to complain and yet continue to read at the same time ^^; How about you? Do the dollfie posts bother you?

Once upon a time I used to be absorbed by everything Gundam where I would post several Gundam articles a day at times.
As my career got busier and then starting up Mirai Inc, I simply had less time to make Gunpla and eventually lost interest in following the Gunpla scene.

Figurines are ready to play out of the box with no assembly time required which was a factor for the gundam-to-figure transition. I also disliked the way that the Gundam Fix Figuration line took ages to get out of the box and I usually ended up with plastic bags of spare parts sitting in a container.

What I do try to do is balance the content out so that there are not too many figure/dollfie or Japan posts in a row. This photo article for example was due to go out in place of the A Day in Tokyo 5 photo article but there was too many Dollfie posts in a row.

Dollpa title=

Just like I carry figmas and nendoroids, Taitan carrys around his daughters in a plastic tub - he has to split them in half before they fit in though ^^;

Dollpa title=

Taitan's camera of choice - the Nikon D300. Am wondering when my Nikon goodies are going to arrive.

Dollpa title=

Taitans moko-chan also has a camera. Not sure what brand though.

Dollpa title=

One of his other daughters with a mic - not sure what her name is.

Dollpa title=

This is the one that I want but they don't make her anymore.

The thing that has always impressed me about Dollfies, is just how much effort people put into making the little food. Without the proper context, I could easily be fooled into thinking thats 1/1 scale. Heck, I'd probably still eat those pancakes. ^_^

Could be the same people who make all of the plastic food displays for Japanese restaurants.

Can't be that hard to shrink those down into doll-food, methinks.

OMG! Elven dollfie! Custom ears? Can you customize just the ear?

    LoL so many versions of Saber! China Dress Saber is HAWT! I guess Kagami is a rare sight to see in a Dolls Party ^^;

Ah! Get back there and get those nunchuks! Then you can make a Selphie custom!!

    Oh and regarding the Dollfie posts... yes, they bother me, because they're tempting me to get one! But seriously lol, I don't mind the posts. Very cute poses, especially if you continue the yuri kinds :P Though I thought it was kinda funny when you posted about the Anime Decline news and it's under "Dollfie" category ^^;;

Some of the Volks SD heads allow for changing the ears (ie - http://www.angelden.net/fcs/sd13girl-ears.html) while some are molded specifically to be elf heads. I'm not too sure about the swapping of ears for other companies, but there's a definitely a number of anthro-dollfies with places like Soom!

Still a Dollfie nooblet myself, so I'm not too sure about Dollfie Dreams...Hopefully someone who knows better can help!

Image ID26273 is indeed a monster hunter costume and to be precise it's the
Hemitaur Set. The others are Monster Hunter too. You can even see the Kirin LS carried by the one who is wearing the Kirin Armor set. China Dress Saber FTW~!
Regarding the content, the content about Dollfies and others are nicely divided although it seems that the lack of Gunpla content is visible.

What ever rocks your boat Danny. At the end of the day it is your site and you have a lot of people who support you. Personally I don't have an interest in Dollfies, but I still read the articles as it showcases the work people have done and put a lot of effort into, and there may be a chance that you might mention something of interest to me (there is also humor sometimes). I think what a lot of people fail to realize is that they are reading a site about someone's interests, not about their own interests (if that makes any sense). so the reason they read the articles/posts is because of a common interest.

lol, i guess the only way they have a right to complain is if they had paid you to write content that had to interest them.

Though what I don't get: do the polls at the end of your article affect the content of the site, or is it just your curiosity (or both, or maybe it depends)? For example, if you enjoy writing about dollfies, but if no one who reads dc.com enjoys it, will you stop/reduce the frequency of the content? Or , what i assume to be the case, will you continue as you please because it is your passion?

The polls is just out of interest but they usually come out as expected.
If *nobody* liked dollfies I would still carry on writing but enable users to filter out what they don't like or something.

Yup. I had 1% interest in dollfies and figures, but loads of interest in anime and Japan and the photos pretty much sealed the deal. Not sure I'll collect them, but they are certainly aesthetically pleasing. It helps to have a good photographer showing what's out there. :-)

Ahh, that Card Captor Sakura dollfie in one of the earlier pictures is so cute! Can anyone recognize the base-dollfie by her face? Or is she totally custom, maybe?

And I see a Yuki Nagato in the background of the photo with all the Erikas; I wonder if she was holding a mini Ryoko Asakura as a nod to Haruhi-chan?

I've pre-ordered Yoko already and just waiting for the rest of my funds to come in before I can pay ^^;; I'm not really interested in collecting figures [though I do like the photos and reviews] as I've seen some collection which are excessive and that's not my thing. Personally I take both figures and Dollfies (BJDs to be exact) as a form of art. To me they both presented beauty in a different dimension. I used to collect figures but then I moved on and spent most of my savings on my daughter, not that I stopped collecting figures, I just take a break to let my pocket heal a bit...lol.
Well BJDs are expensive for sure, but like Danny said in this article, I kinda get attached to my daughter, I think the main reason behind is that she is a custom doll, and I put her together step by step. Kinda like I gave birth to her...ok that sounds gay but I kinda have this feeling when I look at her. lol
Figures are another form of art, it is more like a sculpture. The facial work, the posing of the figure and the detail of the figures are always something that amazed me. I mean, G_C did an amazing job recently and I just love their work.
So in other words I will consider figures and BJDs into different categories. They are BOTH GREAT, and I do hope to hear more for both categories in Dannychoo.com
Last but not least I want to thank Danny for all the hard work he had done so far, and his daughters are one of the reasons that I adopted my daughter. =w=

    Dollfies isn't definately my cup of tea but I don't thenk people who read your blog shouldn't really complain about the recent changes of your interests in your blog i mean I've started reading Your blog when you were interested in Gundam which was ages ago and you barely ever do a review or blog about gundam/gunpla related news. but I still love reading your blog because you bring new things about Japan that I wouldn't really know from North America. I mean wouldn't you be sick of eating the same menu every day? Plus its not like the site is 100% dedicated doll/figure related. I personally think the main idea of Dannychoo.com is a major hub of that channel Japanese culture to different parts of the world which i really deeply appreciate and love. So yes keep up da good work~~ ^^;;

I love the doll posts. It's either I'm still a little girl at heart, or I just really really like the vast array of gorgeous clothes you can dress them up in. So I say continue!

As a female though, I don't think I could have more than two male dolls before wanting to dress a girl. I know that you can put the boys into dresses but they look silly sometimes. They either look displeased, neutral or condescending and none of the face models I've seen make them look sweet.
That and gothic lolita dresses are really, really pretty and need a cute face to wear them.

The 'claws' on that camera look like flashes for taking macro pictures. They're useful if light gets blocked by the lens of the camera. I kind of want a set for my own camera, as I get that problem too much.

Looks like many are finding a place for dollfie:) That jacket is Erika Sendo's? I like coverage on both figure and dolls. There are many interesting combinations to be made with dolls Taitan's coverage is also great because a lot is on the pure neemo dolls which I enjoy.

I don't dislike any posts that users and you yourself posts on DC. For my own personal interests, I'm glad to hear that there are others who are interested in the things I am, though I wasn't into figures in the beginning and sort of felt that my family would not accept my decision to collect them. I was finally able to gather up the courage to collect them after stumbling upon this site through a gunpla search through google. I find it hard to talk about figures n such with my usual friends as they and most people around my area think its "weird" to be so interested in "fantasy" and run a way from reality, which isn't the case, as its because of "fantasy" that mankind reached the moon, fly, sail the seas, and also inventing other amazing stuff like the prototype(what's the name again?) to a world of Chobits.

Mmm...I will profess that I miss having figure reviews, since they're close to nonexistent now, but I don't mind the Dollfie posts. They're still interesting.

If I ever get a BJD, I may stick with the smaller sized ones. I rather like the look of the lolis.

That said, I find it odd that no-one has commented on the fact that the Gunpla coverage has finally met its final death knell. We haven't seen "official" gunpla coverage in ages, so we all know it, but this is the first time you've explictly stated that lost interest and pretty much abandonment.

"...not too many figure/dollfie or Japan posts in a row". Yup - not even in the equation any more. ^^; I think until now there may have still been a few people hoping against hope. xP

I like how the miniature food photos were taken without reference to other objects, removing the sense of scale for me. It makes them look even more real and edible (well except for the cups of coffee which mysteriously defy gravity with their perfectly horizontal "liquid" surface).

I also happen to have a bunch of photos which look like Taitan's dolls doing the exact same poses with their mini cameras taking pictures of a cat instead of your Kagamin. Deja vu...

Can anyone answer this question of mine? Okay here I go with the question - What is with the lottery ticket from Volks? How come I can't buy a Saber Dollfie Dream and a Illya Mini Dollfie Dream from the store or by online from Volks? I have saved enough money to buy them but I can't coz of the lottery ticket that is from Volks? I am a collector of toys, figurines, pictures, books, of any kind of Anime that interests me. The Dollfie's are what interests me now, especially the character dolls. So help me understand what the lotteries are about please!!!

    Mr. Danny Choo,

Keep doing what you are doing coz this is your passion in life, you just made me one of your fans right now ^_^. The Dollfie Mirai is exquisite, I hope you can make them in to production too with the rest of the Dollfie Dream Girls!!!

I hope that they make a Kotomi Ichinose Dollfie Dream too heheheh!!!

      A lot of Dollfies, especially the ones of licensed characters, are limited editions. Since there's more demand than supply, and they don't want to kill their servers with a clickfest, they have users enter a lottery to see who even gets the chance to buy one. The only way to get the limiteds directly through Volks is through the lottery, which requires a certain amount of good timing--not only do you have to know when the lotteries are, but there also has to be something you're interested in them, which can be, shall we say, hit or miss. ^^;

If you missed the lottery for one you like, eg Saber or Illya, your next best bet is to get them via an auction site. eBay sometimes has them, but Yahoo JP Auctions has a much better selection. The downsides to Yahoo is that the whole site's in Japanese and you'll most likely need a proxy service for shipping. Since Illya came out in February or March this year, while Saber came out around this time last year, you'll likely have better luck finding the little Einsbern.

      Good luck!

The only thing that bothers me about the Dollfie content is that it reminds me that though I want one I'm too poor to get one! And given the turn my education is about to take, it looks like I'm only going to get poorer. ^^; Short of a giveaway, it'll probably be years before I can have one.

Right on about writing what you're interested in. Why write about it if you don't like it? Why do anything (besides paying the bills that keep the power and internet running) if you don't enjoy it? Of course, if you were still posting primarily about gunpla I probably wouldn't be here, but with such passion showing through it's hard not to enjoy reading your articles.

*sigh* I'd love to have one of those Dollfies, but they're in 1/3 scale--60cm more or less tall, take up a lot of space (I've seen Aya Kyunik's Dollfies), and 1/3 is a scale that's not very common around these parts (Melbourne). I know Volks does Dollfies in 1/6 scale as well, but I rarely ever see any pictures of them, so I'm not sure if they're of similar quality and appearance to the 1/3 Dollfies.

I've taken a look at Azone's 1/6 dolls based on game characters...sad to say, the clothes are wonderful but the faces are...underwhelming.

I collect 1/6 figures (G.I.Joes, but more historically and technologically accurate), and my first (and only) non-military 1/6 figure would be a 28cm Shirakawa Kotori figure that I built using the Resinya head and an Obitsu 27cm body. Thing with me is that I try to strive for staying true to the same scale. Really wish more articles on 1/6 (27cm and 25cm) dolls was available, especially ones that could be compared favorably with the bigger 1/3 Dollfies.

...Reminds me, must put up pics of Kotori soon for you guys to look at.
