K-ON! MP3 title=

Pre-ordered these limited edition K-ON! CD's from Amazon and they just arrived - thought I'd share whats inside.

K-ON! MP3 title=

First up is the "Cagayake! GIRLS" CD - the OP from K-ON!. The first batch are a limited edition which comes with various Jacket covers of the Kei On Bu girls. Available at Amazon and retails for 1,260 yen - get it before its gawn. As far as I know, Amzon ships CD's overseas - as long as its not ero.

Here we see sweetie Hirasawa Yui on lead. The catchy OP below.

K-ON! MP3 title=

And my fave - Akiyama Mio on bass. Mmmmmmm. Feeling hungry now.

K-ON! MP3 title=

Tainaka Ritsu on drums.

K-ON! MP3 title=

Kotobuki Tsumugi (mugi-chan) on keyboard.

K-ON! MP3 title=

And here's the CD which includes another catchy tune called "Happy!? Sorry!!"

K-ON! MP3 title=

And while we're here, a look at another SAPAB (Suddenly Acquired Pantsu and Bra). Retails for 5,000 yen. Sankyu to HobbyLink Japan for the sample. I shall have it with my afternoon tea later on.

K-ON! MP3 title=

The other CD is the limited edition "Don't Say Lazy" - available at Amazon for 1,260 yen - grab it now before drowning in manly tears after its all dawg gawn. The awesome ED below.

K-ON! MP3 title=

Cuuuuuuute! Yui-chan kawaii.

K-ON! MP3 title=

Mio Akiyama. *melts*

K-ON! MP3 title=

Ri-cchan.

K-ON! MP3 title=

Mugi-chan.

K-ON! MP3 title=

The CD comes with an additional track called "Sweet Bitter Beauty Song."

And as for the title of this photo article? No free MP3 here I'm afraid but a load of free traffic from search engines for folks searching for the term "K-ON! MP3" ^^;

Search for the term "K-ON! MP3" in 24 hours time and tell me what you see in Google ^^;

K-ON! MP3 title=

The girls have been getting very friendly with each other of late...

K-ON! MP3 title=

This afternoons Mio Table. Will have a cuppa tea on it in a mo.

So how has K-ON! been living up to your expectations? I rarely see opinions like "Its average" and either see "Best thing since sliced peanut buttered toast" or "toast spread with baboons poo."

K-ON! MP3 title=

Also ordered this LS-Q1.0TL/1D NAS (Network Attached Storage) from Amazon too which arrived with the CD's. Got it for 28,110 yen - 10,740 yen off the retail price ^o^ The box actually arrived like this and was surprised that it didn't come in any other protective box or padding.

To make things worse, it was delivered by Sagawa who are known to throw things and deliver a day late.
Its usually the nice old man at Pelican - great service and goods from Amazon usually arrive the next day.

K-ON! MP3 title=

The NAS comes with a 1TB HDD and has 3 extra bays for an additional 3 TB HDD's. By having a look at the product page you will see that it comes with a ton of features like a web interface, FTP server, DLNA, RAID1, RAID5, RAID10, is compatible with Mac Time Machine network restores, has USB port to enable a network printer and you can also combine 4 drives into a single drive so that it would appear on your network as a 4TB drive for example.

The DLNA (Digital Living Network Alliance) feature allows me to watch my movies over the network on the PS3 or other portable devices like the iPod Touch.

K-ON! MP3 title=

Before I used to have a few drives attached to a Mac Mini which were shared but if I mounted them on my Mac then every time I open a save dialog then the system hangs waiting for those disks on the Mini to spin up to speed. Also had problems mounting them too.

What sort of backup solutions do you have? Do you use NAS or just external drives? We need NAS to share between everybody in the office.

i have still yet to get my hands on the wide broadcast so i cannot make a definite yes/no
*sigh* having patience is sure hard......

I have a couple of drives around the house that contain clones of my partitions - i don't really like 'backups' that need to be processed back into a useable format - I like to shove the drive right into the machine and boot straight from it

funny though, Backing up was the main reason i discovered this site many years ago - Search through the archives and im sure it's still there

It's average... LOL! I wasn't really taken by it until episode 3. Yui is shown to be quite an airhead and ditsy, but I found the antics pretty funny. Hope it continues to get better.

Personally, I think the opening them it's not that good but do kinda' like the ending theme.

I'm a big fan of the DNS series NAS by D-Link. You can get 3rd party plugins that add a lot of functionality to the NAS drive like FTP,HTTP & Print Server, Bittorrent and P2P and even a simple linux shell that can compile your own programs for the NAS. I'm currently using the DNS-323 with 2 1TB disk in there but I'm thinking about upgrading to the DNS-343 and stick 4 2TB disks in there.

Another interesting NAS that I like is the Drobo by Data Robotics. It's ease of use is it's selling point here. You can stick in different size disks and still make it run in various Raid types. Pretty cool IMO.

I have a Drobo with 2.5T of space. It's very similar to a RAID system but it doesn't store the data redundantly across all the drives which is why you can use various sized HDs.

Regardless of this fact, if one goes down or you hot swap out the smallest HD, data flow isn't interrupted.

I have mine attached via USB because I don't like anything to slow down my network. Well, that and the fact that the 2 previous routers REALLY hated my old NAS and insisted on crashing in the middle of large data transfers.

Who else prefers the opening song over the ending song? I think the endings becomes quite stale once you take out the animation. On the other hand, the opening is still catchy without the animation. 8D

Oops, forgot to tell about backups.

Im afraid our backup plan at work isnt NAS fancy, we have an unused PC thats just sitting on the network, so we use it for backups, and probably more importantly, Visual Source Safe that saves all our code :P

At home, just got an external thats split into 2 partitions, 1 for Mac Time Machine, and 1 for my Windows backups.

Whoa... it topped google search result if quote is applied, without quote, it'll be like what DeathSnake said... even when i wrote "K On Mp3" without quotes... it returned the same result...

Amazing! just how do you do that?? I know it's that SEO you've been talking about, but i just still can't understand how it worked...

I've tried looking for K-On once, and it didn't even return any relevant page, not even the wikipedia page... I just realized that it'll return the correct result when you take out the dash... but yours works with or without dash....

I still don't understand though, why would you put "Mp3" on the article title?? ^^; Trying to bring in traffic from people who are looking for the songs.. XD lolol.

I still use external drives, I like them because they are not always turned on and connected to a network, so it's safer this way. Of course the bad thing is that I have to manually connect them one a week to make a backup.
I make backups more often than one a week, but those backups are not on the external drives, just on separate drives inside the computers. I have automated setup that does the following: makes a copy from the system drive of computer A and copies it to the computer B's non-system drive and vice-versa.

Regarding K-On: I'm definately in the middle for K-On. I like Mio and the ED, but nothing else has grabbed me.

As far as storage - I've got a Buffalo Terrastation. It's a bit out of date in terms of size - 4 disk raid/5 giving me a total of 500GB. Haven't really noticed any spin-up delays or anything. Apparently upgradable by swapping out the HDs. Only things I don't like about it is 1: it's not hot-swappable, and 2: it's OS is totally incapable of handling japanese filenames. :(

      This exactly.
And Yui is getting to the point where I regret watching the show after it's finished, simply for wasting my time.

As for backups, it's just me, so an external drive works fine.

I actually used to use a server with RAID, but since I have a tiny apartment I decided to buy an External HDD with hardware RAID. I am currently using a Western Digital 2TB external RAID HDD. It has 2 1TB drives in it and is a USB 2.0 interface. I have it in RAID 1 for drive mirroring. So far it's been fantastic and much, much smaller than having an entire server around.

I am really into this series. It reminds me of my High School Years with the BHS Band from 1999-2003. Those were some the best and worst years of my life. I like the way I am now, but I miss some of them who are not here with us anymore.

The CD's with the Dolfie's king of remind me of them holding LP's. Vinyl Forever, you have not listened to music until you have heard the crackle of the amp, and the fuzz of the needle. They need to make LP's of this. So I can buy it, and hear the warm sounds of the bass, and guitar.

K-ON! would be the next Lucky Star since its about the life of 4 High School girls . Ritsu is mostly like Haruhi , Mio is totaly like Kagami , Mugi-chan is like Miyuki and finally Yui has the personality of Tsukasa

Hmm, I might have to invest in a NAS i've got quite a few HDD's lying around and could probably put them to use. I guess it would just make my table look neater with one box instead of multiple.
In my opinion, Don't say 'lazy' is the superior song. Limited edition doesn't seem to add much more, different art and 4 different jacket covers. As for the anime itself, I find it pretty good a different slice of life, but i've seen it compared to other slice of life such as Lucky Star quite alot around the internets. Will have to see how it roll itself out though. I'm sure it will continue it's feel good vibe.
Hah! That article name was just for that sake wasn't it? Sneaky Danny trying to raise your view count so you can feel good about yourself! Well, I guess it will generate more viewers to join the DC community which is always good, more comments and such.
Maybe you should separate those dolls Danny, don't know what they might get up to when you're sleeping.

People nowadays prefer anime that depict reality,I guess even otaku needs a change of pace once in a while.

    N I haven't watch K-ON! haven't got time lately, but surely it's on my watch list ^ ^

Those CD's.....ME WANTS!!! K-ON! girls look sooooo cute.

As for using a NAS, just finished assembling a Home Server using Windows Home Server OS and I must say I am impressed with it. Running on 2GB ram, 2.8ghz Core2Duo and 2 x 1TB drives inside, 2 x 320GB USB drives. I used an old case for it, planning on getting one of those smaller HTPC cases to migrate all the hardware to it. Sadly it doesn't support Mac TimeMachine, yet, maybe with some AddIn later on it will. Not to worry, I have 1 x 320GB USB drive to use as TM backup for my Macbook Pro ^^.

    Awesome desk danny.

K-ON! seems to be just slightly above average though. Doesn't have that comedy sense that Lucky Star had.

No, sweet stuff. I'm not so hot on the OP, but the ED is one of the few I watch on a regular basis. Love the video, it makes no sense at all... kinda like most recent Electro videos.

I like K-ON! It's light, it's fun, it's low brain power entertainment (which is a good thing)... Mio's probably my favorite part as well ^^; That said though, I think it'll probably be a fad anime: it'll keep us all happy for this season, then something else will be along in a season or two's time to replace it. Basically, I like it but I've not seen anything to really make it stand out from the crowd. I doubt it'll have any longevity of say the GitS set, NGE, FLCL (those shows that everyone knows) or even ARIA, Nadesico or Gunbuster (the shows with a really solid if smaller fanbase).

However, for this season I intend to keep enjoying it :D

As for backing up: I've got a 1TB external that basically serves as my media drive and I back up "important" files to it... ie: drawings, receipts, uni-stuffs and image collections ^^; Uni also gets backed up to a 8GB thumb drive. Got no need for a NAS... yet.

I've been enjoying K-On! a lot, but it's a mixed bag. The production quality is excellent, and when it does something right it's spectacular. I get giddy just watching the OP and ED. However, I feel that in its attempt to adapt and extend the 4koma material, it really misses the ball about half the time. Some of my favorite punchlines and events in the manga are glossed over or fall flat. I don't think it's as spectacular as I'd hoped, but it's still quite good. Mio helps. I'm an unabashed Mio fanboy, although I hesitate to express it since she seems so popular in the community at large for all the wrong reasons.

All the key leading staff all seem to be female! That's really interesting to me, and it's one of the reasons I watched the show. I can definitely recognize their touches that I've noticed in other Kyoani series.

As for the CDs... I downloaded them with glee, but I'm somewhat disappointed. These are prime examples of inferior mixing and mastering going into the CD release. I see what they were attempting, but I feel it ultimately failed and resulted in a poor quality release. It also feels like the one minute and thirty seconds of each song was the focus. Everything else about the longer release feels very tacked on and inferior (The B tracks don't seem to suffer from that malady, though).

I ultimately used the primary cover as the album art in my mp3s, but I'm still very, very tempted to use the Mio only version.

Try to download the Full Version or get the CD Singles. OP/ED version usually are edits for the show. I do enjoy the Full Version oppose to the OP/ED version. They pack more energy and feeling on every single second of the tracks. You can feel the mood from the songs.

I didn't think I would like K-ON! from reading descriptions of it but checked it out after hearing so many people rave about it. Watched the first three episodes last weekend and really enjoyed it. The girls are all real cute but I think I like Ritsu the most. Yui might get annoying after a while though.

Saber looks great in that bra and panty set. I had looked at them on HLJ before but didn't think they looked great. Will reconsider my opinion. The pose is great as well. May pose my girls similarly tonight.

That Buffalo NAS looks nice! ^^

Currently I just use USB connected external hard drives for backup purposes.

I'd like to eventually have a nice NAS, but as I'm currently using a mix of Linux and Windows on my computers I'm not sure yet what NAS to pick to have it easy to use it on both. Plus I'd like one at a competitive price that is very quiet, still has sufficient cooling and holds enough discs so I can use Raid 5.
Haven't spotted any yet that didn't have one or the other drawback.

Maybe if I switch to Mac one day? But I need to keep in touch with Windows for work...

I enjoy watching K-ON!, but I'd say it's only the third best show of the season, with Full Metal Alchemist and Phantom being the best so far, but it's still early.
It seems Mio gets all the love, but she just reminds me of a younger Yomi from Ga Rei Zero when I look at her, so it just find myself thinking about Yomi and Kagura all the time. Anyway, I like Ritsu the most. Her personality and actions are just too cute, especially episode 3. While the show doesn't have much to offer in any deep sense, it is still very fun to watch.

Haven't watched K-ON! yet since I always get the whole season before watching. This is true nomatter the source so it's nice to have a big HD connected to the TV-tuner. The reason is that I want to have the next episode right away when I watch it so watching is controlled by my time and not air time.

Now I start to have 2nd thoughts about collecting K-ON. The reason is that it's a lot about music and now I heard the music. It's horrible D:
Basically it's the kind of music that makes me not only ditch a radio program, but a whole radio channel.

Is the anime really full of music like this?

Nice CDs, though---the ED is my favourite (especially the animation/idea).

Manage to download [Cagayake! GIRLS] and [Don't say "lazy"] tracks. After listening to both of them, [Don't say "lazy"] is my favorite. I'll try to get the singles from HMV or any anime/music carrying stores.

Of all the four member of the "Light Music Club", my favorite is Tsumugi and Mio. ^^

Manage to watch four episode of K-ON on the web. Very entertaining series. To bad there are no practice jamming session yet.

BTW, is "Sakurakou K-ON Bu" a real band or a virtual band for K-ON series? I manage to find out the vocals for the group. (Aki Toyasaki / Youko Hisaka / Satomi Satou / Minako Kotobuki)

    My HDDs setups...

    PC HDDs:
    1x 320Gb SataII Int
    1x 160Gb Sata Int
    1x 1.5Tb USB 2.0 Ext (Storage & Manual Backup)

    Mac mini HDDs:
    1x 320Gb SataII Int
    1x 500Gb Firewire 800 Ext (Time Machined)

    Extras:
1x 1TB SataII Int (Still RAW)
    2x 60Gb Pata Int

I wanted to try building a NAS network for my computers to share all my HDDs except for the internals HDDs. I was planning to swap my PC 160Gb with my extra 1Tb and make my 320Gb as my bootdisk and apps while all manual game installations on the 1Tb.

I think my Pata HDDs will go to the museum, but will extract all the data before putting them to cold storage.

At this point I don´t have any backup. It just lies on my HDDs, 3TB worth of storage space :)

Have a external drive that I was going to use for OS backups, but I haven´t gotten around making a backup yet.

But having one of those would be nice. Would make things easier as well. But I don´t think that it converts the files into a format that I could play on my PS3 right?

For backup and such I do think it would be nice.
