Tokyo Figure Show title=

Got a load of un-reviewed figures piling up so I thought I'd stick a load in a single post - do let me know if you prefer a single review per figure though.

Taking these photos this morning inspired me with an idea. Already gaining experience organizing events like Tokyo CGM Night (still a lot to learn though) and I thought it would be interesting to organize a figure show. But what season do you normally travel to Tokyo?

And yes - will include Dollfies and Gundam too ^^

Tokyo Figure Show title=

Starting off this batch of reviews with Alter Chua Churam who stars in the eroge Chu Chu Idol - see some of her in the slightly NSFW video below.

Tokyo Figure Show title=

Gorgeous figure. Non scale and sweet n tiny. If you have a review of her - or any of the figures in this article then please feel free to share your burogu link in the comments.

Tokyo Figure Show title=

And before I forget - many photos in this article in the Wallpaper Pool.

Tokyo Figure Show title=

Even though shes tiny, the base and all the bits flying around do take up a bit of space.

Tokyo Figure Show title=

Folks in Japan can get her at Amazon for 8,300 yen (free shipping).

Tokyo Figure Show title=

Next up is the recently released Chroche by Max Factory.
Choroche can be seen looking sweet in the game Ar Tonelico2 for the PS2 - check the OP below and some moe moe sweetness from her at the end of the video.

Tokyo Figure Show title=

Chroche is 1/8 scale and folks in Japan can get her at Amazon for 7,266 yen (fwee shipping).

Tokyo Figure Show title=

Shes quite a heavy girl!

Tokyo Figure Show title=

Gorgeous eyes and very cute pantsu which I forgot to snap ^^;

Tokyo Figure Show title=

Another recent release - Tamaki Kousaka by Griffon.

Tokyo Figure Show title=

1/7 scale and available from HobbyLink Japan who kindly sent along this sample.

Tokyo Figure Show title=

Griffon did make dodgy figures a while ago but the quality has improved a lot over time.

Tokyo Figure Show title=

Sukumizu, Sailor fuku, big eyes, muchi muchi bottom and a moe moe face - a force to be reckoned with.

Tokyo Figure Show title=

Lovely bottom n thighs.

Tokyo Figure Show title=

Retails for 7,600 yen.

Tokyo Figure Show title=

One of the nicest figures of Tamaki available.

Tokyo Figure Show title=

And folks in Japan can get her from Amazon for 6,832 yen.

Tokyo Figure Show title=

Next up is Nanako Sakura from the eroge Sakura Sakura which has been postponed for nearly a year now?!

Tokyo Figure Show title=

Thanks to HobbyLink Japan for sending this sample over. If you take a look at the detail page, you will see that Nanako comes with a ball, hoop and some skittle twirler thingies but I couldn't be bothered with all the extra bits which kept rolling off the table ^^;

Tokyo Figure Show title=

One of my fave figures at the moment.

Tokyo Figure Show title=

See Nanako-chan in action in the PV below.

Tokyo Figure Show title=

Folks in Japan can get Nanako from Amazon for 4,800 yen reduced from the retail price of 7,665 yen and get free shipping desu.

Tokyo Figure Show title=

Her top is removable but they made her pupils stick out too much which looks odd - leaving her top on.

Tokyo Figure Show title=

The pose of her finger adjusting her leotard looks a bit odd - looks like shes pointing at something else down below...

Tokyo Figure Show title=

Very sweet figure indeed.

Tokyo Figure Show title=

There are some other characters in the game that I'd love to see get figurized too.

Tokyo Figure Show title=

Interesting that this game is not even out and yet many still went and bought the figure.

Tokyo Figure Show title=

Next up is Nanael form the Queens Blade series. Unlike Sakura-chan, Nanael's pupils are yummy so her top stays off ^^;

Tokyo Figure Show title=

The tissue bra inherited from Fauna-chan.

Tokyo Figure Show title=

Thanks to HobbyLink Japan for the gorgeous sample.

Tokyo Figure Show title=

Looking forward to the Queens Blade anime.

Tokyo Figure Show title=

Folks in Japan can get Nanaeru at Amazon for a reduced 4,610 yen. Tissue not included.

Tokyo Figure Show title=

If you want to see Nanaeru-chan without the tissue - head over to Tyodai - SFW and includes free bukkake.
FooBarBaz has some too.

Tokyo Figure Show title=

Next up is KOS MOS from Xenosaga III - another sample from my very good comrades at HobbyLink Japan.

Tokyo Figure Show title=

Absolutely gorgeous bod.

Tokyo Figure Show title=

Very large too at 1/6 scale. See some of her in action below.

Tokyo Figure Show title=

Her top can be peeled back but don't expect to see any pupils - unless you draw them on ^^;
Not a big fan of the transparent type hair though.

Tokyo Figure Show title=

Folks in Japan can order her for 6,638 yen reduced from 9,240 yen and get free shipping.

Tokyo Figure Show title=

Quite an old release - Manami-chan from the epic Manabi Straight which I still have not finished yet.

Tokyo Figure Show title=

Was something I stole from the Good Smile stock room. Dont tell them about it though.

Tokyo Figure Show title=

Manabi Straight was awesome. So whens the second season then?

Tokyo Figure Show title=

Great detailing on this figure.

Tokyo Figure Show title=

Non-cast offable but you can remove her from that flying board thingy.

Tokyo Figure Show title=

Didnt see many reviews of this figure though.

Tokyo Figure Show title=

Very cute.

Tokyo Figure Show title=

Next up is Mikuru-chan by Max Factory. Available from Amazon for 5,800 yen.

Tokyo Figure Show title=

A load of Mikuri in the following MAD.

Tokyo Figure Show title=

An awesomely sweet figure.

Tokyo Figure Show title=

Another Max Factory release - 1/8 scale Makoto Sawatari from Kanon. Didnt take this from the GSC stock room - nabbed it directly from the glass shelves in the meeting room! Again this is confidential info so keep it to yourself. The boss would go napalm if he knew I nicked stuff from his shelves.

Tokyo Figure Show title=

Very Very Very cute figure. Peach pantsu very cute too. Makoto in action below.

Tokyo Figure Show title=

Love the sculpting of the hair.

Tokyo Figure Show title=

How about joining Makoto-chan for a bath?

Tokyo Figure Show title=

Another Max Factory release that came out many many moons ago - Rin Kokonoe. Cant be bothered with loose pieces that come with figures - discarded the book that shes reaching for on the floor.

Tokyo Figure Show title=

This model is castoffable - shorts can be removed to show her pantsu with a (pedo) bear on it. Kodomo no Jikan OVA OP below.

Tokyo Figure Show title=

Cutie Index from Toaru Majutsu no Index.

Tokyo Figure Show title=

Kino from Kino no Tabi. Dont know much about the series but the OP looks good - recommended?

Tokyo Figure Show title=

All these are Nendoroid Puchi by the way. Next up is Shana with removable cloak.

Tokyo Figure Show title=

And Taiga from Toradora which I dropped because she seemed too violent in the first EP.

Tokyo Figure Show title=

This pack of Nendoroid Puchi only comes with the NDS game A Cross of Venus which features many Dengeki characters - OP below.

Tokyo Figure Show title=

And this is what the box looks like.

Tokyo Figure Show title=

Just realized that I have quite a few pink haired daughters - forgot to include Mizuho-chan who sits on the Apple Cinema display.

Tokyo Figure Show title=

About to tidy up after the morning shoot.

So, am finishing writing this after lunch now and already have progress on the figure show idea that I talked about at the beginning of the article.
I will be working with other famous Japanese figure bloggers (who I already have an answer from) to organize a figure show this year. Given our good relationships with the figure/game/anime makers such as GSC, Kotobukiya, Bandai etc, I'm sure they will jump at the opportunity to reach out to a broader international attendance.

Am currently planning of having cosplay space too. We need something to distinguish our event from other existing shows and will have a brainstorming meeting early next week.

One of the distinguishing things will be that my personal figures will be on display together with the figures owned by other popular bloggers over here - you can probably guess who they are already ^^;
The event will tie in very close to an online community too.

Will also work with some travel agency comrades to get you cheap flight packages into Tokyo. No current ETA as I just came up with the idea a few hours ago but already have momentum and will make this happen. Tis very exciting!

Tokyo Figure Show title=

Ah, nearly forgot about this image - may be obvious but open figure boxes from the bottom to avoid damaging them.

If you are interested in reading about life in Japan, seeing photos taken daily around Tokyo, like Japanese subculture (anime, manga, figures, Dollfies) then you may want to start delving into the Japan or Figure categories for a start or have a gander at all photo articles.

If you don't have much time now, maybe subscribe to the RSS Feed, Twitter Feed or join the other readers in the FaceBook Page.
Alternatively, you may want to read more about the site.
If you are a regular reader then this message will probably annoy you each time - hide it forever.

You took a pic of Minami's pantsu but not Chroche's?? Zetsubou da! Oh... never did try to open the box from the bottom before... I only do that for trading figures usually. Really love that Index nendo, but Chua Churam is my favourite of these bunch ^^

Can you nick off a Rider from the Good Smile Company glass shelf for me plx?? You seem to be handy with the five-finger discount ^.^ Or at least tell'em to make more of her XD

I would prefer an individual figure review than a bunch.

Kino no Tabi is a slow-pace anime but packed with good story & action, would recommend if you got nothing in your To-Watch list, there are just way too many anime to catch up.

Hmmm interesting a figures collector's display, me and a bunch of other collectors been doing that since last year but we display at anime events organize by local anime clubs instead of our own though. Would really like to be able to organize our own figure event in the future ^^.

I think single figure reviews are better but I can see how this would save you time since you get so many Suddenly Acquired Figures. Although as long as you take plenty of pictures, like you did with these, I wouldn't mind. ^^

The figure show also sounds like a really neat idea, although I fear that no matter how cheap the travel packages are I don't think I'd easily be able to go. I'll just have to make due plenty of pictures from you and everyone else that attends. Hope to hear more about it as you get all the details planned out in the future.

Really like the Makoto figure cos its the same as the OP scene! Yet, old release, and no stock anywhere now. (not including online retailers)
Same goes to Manabi, but that pose wasn't in the OP.

Yummy Tamaki is yummy. I never played ToHeart, never watched either, but I know I definitely have to do so, one day. Just look at the characters! :3

The four Nendo Puchi... I love em. Especially Index, and Taiga. Shana too - but shes got loads other figures. Didn't like the Taiga earlier from GSC, but really liking this puchi one. Index on the other hand.. Too cute to resist ^^ Kino no Tabi.. I dun even know the show. o.o Too bad these are all exclusives. Sigh.

I usually go in spring time to Japan. This year from April 26th till May 13th. It is usually always around this period. But since you're going to do it this year, it would be lovely if it were during this period, but I can understand that's quite on short notice... ^^

The nendoroid puchi are great ;p
And so does Mikuru-chan and the girl from Kanon (although I haven't seen (both) series yet).

You should finish Manabi Straight, it's good.

Great idea for a figure show by the way. I've been planning a trip in November for about one month(depending on the exchange rate). Too late to book for spring and it would be nice to enjoy the milder weather rather than the unbearably hot November over here.

Straight from build quality and design, I have to say Chua Churam is a better figure than Kos-mos even though I have been a kos-mos fan for much longer. Of the figures presented above Makoto is my favourite with the Chu Chu Idol girl being close second.

Like other commenters said before you should give Toradora! another chance. It's really good later on. It is one of the few harem shows with a decent story.

Taiga's character is like Shana x 2 in pretty much every aspect except magic skills (and body height). Later in the show there are a few scenes showing her very sweet side. In my opinion Toradora! is the best show this winter.

Danny, if you managed to get past episode 2, you will realize Toradora is not the sort of "violent tsundere" show that you expected it to be. In fact, I dare say it's on par with most of the good live-action romance dorama out there (and pay no attention to the shallow shippers who would declare Toradora crap because "their girl lost" near the end).

For the three JC Staff shows that Kugimiya has starred in, I would rate them as follows:

Toradora >>>>>>>>>> Shana >>>>>>>>>> many light years >>>>>>>>>> Zero no Tsukaima

Going to start this post with a few problems about either firefox and this site or the article or something...

I have to post this all over again because the last time I tried to post this, the page that should of refreshed after my post. Anyways, I also cant load the Poll. Page is done with no poll after four-five refreshes. Closed and reopened the browser with no change. I hate firefox now that Im using safari at home. Im at school and I cant use safari on this compy.

Back to the original post, hopefully this will go through this time.

    I love the Queen's Blade Nanael! Im going to buy that next. I also love the nendo-puchi of Taiga Aisaka! I wish it wasnt part of a set! ;;

Also, Danny, Toradora is an awesome show, ranked as one of the highest in the states and prolly around the globe. You should give it another try. Although I'll warn you have the comedy/romance starts to turn into just romance at around EP 15 or so. But you should deffinatly give Taiga Aisaka another shot. Shes such a cute angry ball of attitude.

Also, again, I had to go home to post this from my own PC. Maybe the school's networks are somehow preventing me from uploading to the DC server.

First was the best because the clothing was really nice. If it's too simple, the price tag makes it seem not worth it. If the clothing is really well done it is.

Nice photos of amazing figures! My personal fave in the lot is Tamaki, seems Griffon's figures have indeed gotten quite a bit better than before.

Not too fond of that Kos-Mos bikini figure, my favourite figure of Kos-Mos still remains the original Xenosaga I version by Alter. ^^

I agree..I was never fond of the dub for KOS-MOS...My ears felt like they were bleeding already just from her sentence that she started to speak x_X
I would prefer to stick with her Japanese voice which I got hooked up with since the first game.

Apart from that..the figure is superb~ But not the swimsuit type figure collector..I don't wanna get those look from my friends if they visit me once a while..

Danny - you are amazing. You start off typing the article, come up with an idea midway, and by the time you're at the end things are already in motion. It says a lot about your go-getter personality and your connections, as much if not more than your inspirational articles do.

Won't be able to come this year no matter what, but do like the idea. Very much so. And if you can get cheaper airfare it'd be an amazing way to reach out to international figure fans for the first time. I'd guess that many never make the jump to actually go to Japan, partly due to price and partly due to being alone in a foreign country. To actually organize an event where all the gaijin are actually invited on purpose...would be quite a breakthrough.

Besides, it's not like they'd just show up to your show. They'd show at your show, then go invade Akiba. Figure manufacturers can't lose.

    --------------------------

Chroche is my favourite. Definitely. But you already know why I have a deep emotional connection to that particular figure (first purchase). I love the Ar Tonelico 2 opening too - I only have the first game and haven't gotten around to playing it, but anything that's based around singing and epic music and cute girls can't be bad. ;)

Oh, as for multiple figure reviews...I think I prefer them seperate. We tend to get a few more shots of each, but another thing to consider is that searching for it will be easier since the figure's name is in the title.

This could be important for people who aren't reading it as it comes out. I might see a thumbnail at the bottom for Chroche if it was a single-figure review, but I wouldn't know it was in this article since only Chu Chu is shown.

      Hmm... forgot to answer when's a good time to go to Japan... Your comment reminded me to answer it ^^;

I'd like to go when it's not hot, so summer's out of the question. Spring or Fall would be nice, but perhaps too many things going on around that time in Japan? I'd like to go, but I'd really need a major warning in advance. If it's next spring, then I'm gonna try hard to be there ^_^

The more I keep reading these reviews the sooner I'm going to start buying. I've been bit by the figure-bug.

As for the reviews, it's nicer to have a few more shots of each figure, but as was stated earlier, the benefit of being able to find old reviews by figure name would just be easier if they were done solo.

My favorite has to be Chua Churam!! ^_^ Got it her back from TokyoToys when I happened to be in London last October. I had preorder her last time from HLJ..but at that time I had to cancel it since I had leave to UK..I was shocked to see it here..and I instantly bought it without hesitation.

    The embarrassing part was the shop didn't have any plastic bag for it at that moment (consider it's box size) and all they gave me was that big black plastic bag (for rubbish). I was like "what the..?" So I had to put in my backpack...luckily it fit <_<;

Apart from that, there are other figures which I like from this review...but my wallet is currently dry..so I rest my case here...

I'm wishing that Max Factory would make PVCs for Trusty Bell (Eternal Sonata). So far, there are three characters from that series I would buy PVCs of.

But until then... I guess the one I would choose to buy would be Chroche (Ar tonelico II). Simply because it looks like a great, non-mainstream RPG, and was made by Max Factory.

Then again... The series does mark the lack of luck I had when it came to my timing with good PS2 RPGs. XP

The hosting of a figure event for international people sounds like a great idea. Perhaps you can tie it in with a tour through the figure companies that you talked about and you'd definately get a lot of attendees.

    Manami-chan is so cute :D

I'm guessing most people would go for the busy seasons, like summer of winter. Just guessing though.

    Chua Churam and Chroche are so pretty! I did my research on Ar Tonelico 2 and the music is amazing. And Chua Churam's frills, lolita-esque design, multi-coloured eyes and vampire teeth are all things I love. I can't find this figure anywhere though ^^;

Chua Churam shoud have been mine but, sadly for me, she's not ¬¬.
Anyway, my favorite one of these figurines is Sawatari Makoto because I love too much this character of Kanon and in second place I would put the mentioned before Chua Churam.
    Greetings.

I feel like I should have preordered that Chua Churam figure when I had the chance. Seeing more of the figure makes me want to get ahold of it more so. I would say the same of the mikuru chan but I have two figures of her so getting a third one ranks a bit lower on my priority list.

The Chua Churam is a sweet figure, Lots of little details on this figure make it an incredible figure.
The only thing I find Challaning about this figure is cleaning it when it gets dusty, It takes me some time to clean it with a standard cloth. ^_^
