Smultron

EditPlus was the text editor that I used on Windows and unfortunately I still have not been able to find the penultimate equivalent on a Mac - I have tried BBedit, Hyperedit, Textmate, SubEthaEdit, Jedit etc etc and not one of them lived up to standards - It could be because I was just too impatient and should go back and give some of them another try.
Textmate and Hyperedit for a start could not handle Japanese text - they could open files with Japanese text but you could not type (well you could type but nothing would happen).
Smultron is what I have been using of late - simple but far from perfect. Also handles Japanese, Chinese and Korean correctly.

If you are interested in reading about life in Japan, seeing photos taken daily around Tokyo, like Japanese subculture (anime, manga, figures, Dollfies) then you may want to start delving into the Japan or Figure categories for a start or have a gander at all photo articles.
