And the winner is................................................................ ................................................................ ................................................................ ................................................................ ................................................................ ................................................................ ................................................................ ................................................................
The Garbage House Woman who has an awesome house filled with garbage.

Comedian Yoshio Kojima uses his celebrity charm to get permission to film inside a gomi yashiki (”garbage mansion”):

Kojima is greeted with a truly horrid sight. Garbage is everywhere, making it very hard to walk through the rooms. Some of the filth is old food that has long since rotted. The old woman who owns the house doesn’t seem to realize just how terrible it smells.

After finding out that she would like to eat yakiniku, Kojima is able to convince her that the big piles of trash make it impossible to hold a barbeque on her property, so she allows him to clean up the outside of her house.

Kojima assembles a team of not-so-popular comedians who are willing to spend a day sifting through garbage and they begin the task of cleaning up the woman’s driveway and lawn. As their cleaning progresses, the woman tries to stop them from throwing away some bags of obviously rotten food. Despite the random appearance of her garbage piles, she seems to remember exactly where she put everything, and she wants to save certain things.

Read the rest at JapanProbe.

As for the photo - T'was my room which you may have seen already in the The Early Years 1 photo article.

And as for the real giveaway and real winner - looks like I got runner up prizes for you - but for only 10 people. Now that I have secured the runner up money, It will make it just that little bit easier for me to choose - but only by a bit. Will announce this week.

If you are interested in reading about life in Japan, seeing photos taken daily around Tokyo, like Japanese subculture (anime, manga, figures, Dollfies) then you may want to start delving into the Japan or Figure categories for a start or have a gander at all photo articles.

Yea, me too. My heart felt like it was going to stop. XD

You know I had some family I don't associate with anymore that were awful people who's house was almost that bad, except they had 2 pre-teens and 2 toddlers, and 14 cats! It was insane over there...I could go on, but I don't think anyone would want to know. lol.

Congrats Danny on attaining the runner-up prizes!
I've seen that room before! It reminds me of mine with the amount of poster coverage. ^^

Hmm... I remember visiting my grandpa (who was alcoholic) when I was small and the house smell so bad I had to go outside to wait my dad who was talking to him. Well he died few years from then, but that house still smells pretty bad.

People who live like that tend have a mental problem called Compulsive hoarding

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital_Pack_Rat

Which seems to be linked to OCD. They may have gotten the house cleaned up for now but unless something is done about the under laying mental issues the problem is not solved and most likely the house will revert to is previous state.

A kid on my soccer team had a room like that the first year he was at UVA. Another friend went and stayed in his room while visiting. He told me they were continually receiving fines and notices due to health and fire code violations. There was literally nowhere you could see the floor, and there was a little too much rotting food stuck under piles of laundry. I'm not sure how someone could live like that...

I really believe a personal room is just a physical, ever-changing representation of the true spirit that resides in it. What one might see as something unimportant, the person living there might see as a valued treasure. The amount of clutter or lack thereof, is a statement of comfort. Some people can't stand clutter, others live in a mess. I don't know what goes through the mind of those extreme opposites, all I can know is when I'm at peace with my room and when I am not.
    (^ ^)

Now I really need to throw out empty Action Figure boxes in my closet.hmmmm...wonder if that says anything my mental state? Heh heh.

As for someone who struggles with figures, loves them and can't afford. Well, I'm just babbling xD Good luck all that posted~

    It's always sad for me to see people who's homes are littered with trash and clutter like that. I was looking up some websites on pack rats, because my mom is one(but not *that* bad), and ran across a page about compulsive hoarders. It's a type of OCD but usually less sever then most other OCD types. They just mentally can't get their brain to throw things away, it becomes a comfort for them and a way of dealing with anxiety. So very sad. ;_;

OH and even if you clean up the mess, unless they get help dealing with their problem, it'll just happen again.

The career I used to be in would take me into peoples homes 3 - 8 times a day in all sorts of neighborhoods and economic status, basically I installed digital broadcast signal service or satellite television. During my 6 year career I came across many homes that were poorly cared for and about a dozen that were as bad as this ladies and two that were far far worse one of which I notified health services and local authorities on because of the severe conditions I found within. If you've ever seen someone who drives around in a vehicle and theres stuff packed full to the ceiling all the way around except the drivers seat then chances are that their home is in this same kind of condition.

Looks like Danny had cenophobia as a youth.

There should be categories for some of the runner-up prizes. For example:

Holy Grail Award: For the room containing the rarest item(s).

Clone Army Award: For the room with the most duplicate items or most versions of the same character.

Mirror Universe Danny Award: For the room most resembling Danny's house/office, w/ plenty of Ikea furniture and Macs.

Garbage pileup...others have noted it's a form of OCD. I watch this and I wonder if this has anything to do with a war mentality, when resources - food in particular - is short.

I can fully understand how someone might come out of such a situation and begin to hoard everything. "What if I need this at some point?" "This can still be used, somehow." "I've had worse than this, so I shouldn't waste it."
