Macne Nana

For Mac users who want their very own singing princess but cant be bothered with Parallels to run the Windows Vocaloid software - meet Macne Nana [Mac音ナナ] - the "Mac version" of Vocaloid.

The software is available for download from Act2 and costs 2,980 yen for a full version and 980 yen for a not so full version.
As far as I can see, this software has nothing to do with the folks at Crypton who own the original Vocaloid.
Below is a sound sample of what you can do.

And this is the main character - Macne Nana

And this is Macne Nana Petite

Screenshot of the UI taken from Moemania who has already given the software a whirl.

Have personally not tried out any of the vocalized series. I know there are many Hatsune Miku fans out there but how many of you have actually tried any of the software?

Well, this is basically a Mac version of Crypton's Vocaloid 2 - a voice synthesizing software. It's a huge phenomenon within the online/net otaku-sphere, with a lot of fanmade music and videos. One of the major aspects of the software is its mascot, which has since gained lots of characteristics from fans and such. Hatsune Miku is the first and most popular one, though Crypon has also released other voicebanks.

Search a bit on this site - you'll find more information than you know what to do with. ^^; You can't stay here for long without learning some.

                  A Curiosity

      Know not of vocaloid?
This is for people with musical talent/ knowledge who want to make a voice for there songs.
The basis is this software starts from a living human's voice extracted from the means of recordings and then the voice is put on the software and you can use the voice by inputing notes and lyrics. It results in vocals for a song which you can then use music editing software to put the vocals and instrumentals together...
Basically people who can't sing, but have musix skillzors use this to make songs, without need to hire people.
And the mascots of these programs are ultra-moe or really cool, so it helps them have a theme for musix videos. haha...

I ordered a kit of Hatsune Miku.. she's quite cute, just didn't know where she came from.. Now I do. this makes me happy.

They became popular because of the creativity of the song writers. Melody is also considered but overall, it boils down to creativity itself.

Hmm, I think I'm not completely sold on Nana's voice just yet... The voice itself isn't bad, but I'd like to hear a smoother transition from note to note. Could just be the staccato nature of the song, though. She's got a real cute, apple-y beret, anyway!

Tried Utau once but couldn't get it working, even with my computer's regional settings on Japanese and running the program in AppLocale.

The sounds produced sounds more digital compared with the new megurine luka.... Maybe it's just me or maybe they didn't make a full use of the software.

I've tried using the Vocaloid software but I don't have much musical talent to create music just to save my life XDDD

      Exactly the same here.

But if I manage to get a Vocaloid software in some way, I would certainly try to make some songs there. ^^

Looks really similar to a music production program called Reason. The layout is kind of the same :-)

Played around with Hatsune Miku Vocaloid software.
Had a load of fun creating some anime songs. That was the easy part... The hard part was making it sound less robotic, and then I sorta gave up....
If I had a sense for music, I would continue to play around with it.

  • I just care whether or not I can use it with Logic. http://www.apple.com/uk/logicstudio/ It should work, due to Logic's ReWire support, but will I need Reason installed first? …Well, they imply that it works with GarageBand, so I'd assume that Logic is supported.

I wish regular Macne Nana had a more mature face and not just two huge eyes to make her the "regular" version (seriously, besides the "eyes" there's not much of a difference between the two).

I always get a bit weirded out seeing this kind of lolis with huge eyes (both of them).

Never used any vocaloid software, but I have many Miku figures. In terms of numbers per character, probably have more of Miku than any other character.
