Macne Nana

For Mac users who want their very own singing princess but cant be bothered with Parallels to run the Windows Vocaloid software - meet Macne Nana [Mac音ナナ] - the "Mac version" of Vocaloid.
The software is available for download from Act2 and costs 2,980 yen for a full version and 980 yen for a not so full version.
As far as I can see, this software has nothing to do with the folks at Crypton who own the original Vocaloid.
Below is a sound sample of what you can do.

And this is the main character - Macne Nana

And this is Macne Nana Petite

Screenshot of the UI taken from Moemania who has already given the software a whirl.
Have personally not tried out any of the vocalized series. I know there are many Hatsune Miku fans out there but how many of you have actually tried any of the software?

This looks interesting. I'm a Mac user, and I've never tried this kind of software before. I'll have to read up more on it.

Well, this is basically a Mac version of Crypton's Vocaloid 2 - a voice synthesizing software. It's a huge phenomenon within the online/net otaku-sphere, with a lot of fanmade music and videos. One of the major aspects of the software is its mascot, which has since gained lots of characteristics from fans and such. Hatsune Miku is the first and most popular one, though Crypon has also released other voicebanks.
Search a bit on this site - you'll find more information than you know what to do with. ^^; You can't stay here for long without learning some.
unemployed machinist.. yeah
Ahh I see.. Okay
A Curiosity
Know not of vocaloid?
This is for people with musical talent/ knowledge who want to make a voice for there songs.
The basis is this software starts from a living human's voice extracted from the means of recordings and then the voice is put on the software and you can use the voice by inputing notes and lyrics. It results in vocals for a song which you can then use music editing software to put the vocals and instrumentals together...
Basically people who can't sing, but have musix skillzors use this to make songs, without need to hire people.
And the mascots of these programs are ultra-moe or really cool, so it helps them have a theme for musix videos. haha...
unemployed machinist.. yeah
Well Thank you both for informing me.. So basically its music software ish. Not something I'd really care to use anymore.. I left my music days behind for the most part. I ordered a kit of Hatsune Miku.. she's quite cute, just didn't know where she came from.. Now I do. this makes me happy.

this vocaloid software sounds interesting. I wonder how long it would take for this software to become popular as the originals. And second, i never played with any of the vocaloid software as I dont know what to do with them.

Too much work just to listen to a machine sing a song. I never got why Vocaloids were so popular.

They became popular because of the creativity of the song writers. Melody is also considered but overall, it boils down to creativity itself.

You should watch some original music videos from several vocaloids (Miku is the first choice), sometimes they are very well done. People put a lot of effort into them and it shows.

Tried Vocaloid Hatsune Miku, Kagamine Rin and Len and trying Luka next week.
This one is pretty organized itself! Kudos to the makers of Macne Nana.

I haven't tried one of them, due to lack of money to even buy one.

I was able to try the Miku Vocaloid software quite recently. Haven't had a real go with it yet, so haven't wrapped my head around how to use it lol.
Macne looks cute. Not a Mac fan myself... But I've heard good things about Garage Band(I have a friend who's Mac-happy lol)
Liking the song though. Is it an original or does it come from somewhere? It sounds familiar... but I don't know where from.

Not nearly as refined as the Vocaloids, but I do like her tone, and there's something about the electronic sound in this song that just works. *downloads it* Quite an earworm too.
I haven't tried Vocaloid yet, but I'm currently in the process of getting VMware and my new virtual XP machine set up enough to make it run and give it a whirl.

making just a 1 minute song (voicing included) in vocaloid takes ALOT of time XD

Haven't tried the software before, to tell the truth this is my first time hearing about it, though I do know there were softwares like this floating around.

Haha. It's a good try but still can't beat Vocaloid in the quality of the sound database yet.
They need to improve the sound database to get better result of the songs. From the youtube video, Nana can't seemed to be singing good tones when it involved long notes.

The voice is nice but it's nowhere the fluidness(new word yay!) of the vocaloid voices. I'm a huge Miku fan but I don't really like the others. Hatsune Miku songs are all I listen to, with a bit of metal and touhou remixes.

I'm a Vocaloid fan. But I have no musical talent, so I've never used the program.

Being a musical person, I'd like to try using the Vocaloid software, though... My impatience is great enough to rival that of Sonic the Hedgehog, so I dunno if I'd have the dedication to do much with it xD;
Hmm, I think I'm not completely sold on Nana's voice just yet... The voice itself isn't bad, but I'd like to hear a smoother transition from note to note. Could just be the staccato nature of the song, though. She's got a real cute, apple-y beret, anyway!

When I have the free time, I try to learn to use the Vocaloid program...but it's really difficult ^^; For those who used them might get the idea what I'm talking about. Since I have no music talent...though I still like to learn to use it.
Regarding about this program...I'm beginning to imagine our future is filled with virtual singers O_o And Hatsune Miku being the top singer among all LOL!
If this ever goes popular, I wouldn't mind getting a figure of it <3 She looks cute

the interface looks better than vocaloid and with more options, but miku`s voice is far better, also mac users will need a program like miku miku dance to make videos or other 3d software

There is the freeware program Blender for 3-D (I've downloaded it but have yet to really do much with it), but you'd probably still have to make your own character model.

I wanted to try out the program after listening to a Vocaloid doing the vocals for the Opera Song in Final Fantasy VI, but after seeing how complex it was, I got scared off lol. I find that I don't have any musical talents whatsoever anyway.
Of course when I first saw this post all I could think of was Acne Nana... >_<

Anyone else notice that "Macne Nana Petit" appears to actually be a Combinator patch for Propellerhead's Reason?
Even as a windows user, I find that would be fairly useful as up until now, I've been using vocaloid (among other things) to create short vocal loops which I then have to bring into Recycle, and bring into Reason via Dr. Rex.

Played around with Hatsune Miku Vocaloid software.
Had a load of fun creating some anime songs. That was the easy part... The hard part was making it sound less robotic, and then I sorta gave up....
If I had a sense for music, I would continue to play around with it.

I just care whether or not I can use it with Logic. http://www.apple.com/uk/logicstudio/ It should work, due to Logic's ReWire support, but will I need Reason installed first? …Well, they imply that it works with GarageBand, so I'd assume that Logic is supported.

I wish regular Macne Nana had a more mature face and not just two huge eyes to make her the "regular" version (seriously, besides the "eyes" there's not much of a difference between the two).
