Maryan title=

Review of the absolutely gorgeous 1/8 scale Maryan Senpai from Kotobukiya - this particular version is the Magical Maryan version. Also just learned that there is a Metamorphosis version too thats out in May.

Maryan title=

Been spending a load of time with comrades at Kotobukiya lately which could explain the sudden wall of SAFS in the office ^^;

Maryan title=

This has to be one of the nicest Kotobukiya releases in my collection so far - paintwork, sculpt, dynamic pose and cuteness is just awesome.

Maryan title=

The straw-look-alike thingy is supposed to be some sort of stardust swirling around her bod - you can see a better 2D version by hovering over the last thumbnail on this page.

Maryan title=

Have not played the eroge ToHeart2 Another Days but I think that this version of Maryan is from that series.
Love this angle.

Maryan title=

Nice Futomomo.
Futomomo [太もも] = thighs.

Maryan title=

Nice Oshiri.
Oshiri [お尻] = bottom.

Maryan title=

Hmmmm. Was going to teach you another word but I think I'll leave that to member Tenrou to teach you one day ^^;

Maryan title=

Just love the pose - full of energy and vitality.
Genki ga Ippai [元気がいっぱい] = Full of energy/vitality.

Maryan title=

Did I just hear a fart?
Onara [おなら] = Fart.

Maryan title=

Small but well formed.
Pechapai [ぺちゃぱい] = small "eyes."

Maryan title=

The swirly thing comes separate - you split her in half which enables you to stick the swirl in place.

Maryan title=

Kawaii!

Maryan title=

Not sure if it was needed but there are holes in her wrist and ankle with small slots that hold the swirl in place.

Maryan title=

And cast off - she wearing a white sukumizu.
Sukumizu [スク水] = School Mizugi. Mizugi = Swimwear.

Maryan title=

Nearly forgot - video from ToHeart 2 Another Days below - I think this is the opening from the eroge but not 100% sure.

Maryan title=

Wouldn't you love to be bitten by her fang?

Maryan title=

Do you have a fave ToHeart girl? Mines still Konomi-chan.

Maryan title=

And the question I wanted to ask today - how many pictures do you prefer me to take for one figure review? I know some other folks only take a couple or so.
I do try to take shots from as many different angles as possible and if there are similar shots its because a small adjustment brings out a different look and feel to the shot.

Maryan title=

Lovely paintwork and detail.

Maryan title=

Folks in Japan can pick up Maryan from Amazon for 5,365 yen - free shipping to all parts of Japan.

Maryan title=

This one in the Wallpaper Pool.

Maryan title=

This is Maryan's new spot - my fave figures are placed closet to me. Do you arrange your figures the same way with your fave ones beside you?

Maryan title=

When I'm not looking, Mirai Saber would pic up Maryan and play with her - Dollfie sized figure.

Hee, Marayan and Sasara are always going to be my To Heart Sweethearts, for sure. Seeing her with the Lala-ToLoveRu hat makes me snicker somewhat. I really disliked Lala but the hat is cute on Marayan. It goes well with her uniform! Mahou Shoujo Naichichi Marayan-chama!

Again I say, damn that dollfie in the Suenaga outfit is quite a sight as well. @_@

New word added into DB : futomomo ^^

Well I voted for 20-40, because I think that would be enough for one to see every angle of the figure. Thats actually quite important to me - I tend to see reviews of figures and only buy is statisfied. Though I do PO some figures straight because they're quite guaranteed to be awesome *cough*saber*cough*

As for fav To Heart girl.. I can't choose ><

A great figure indeed! the outfit, facial expression, moe, Kawai, pantsu, etc =^_^=.

But what was called me the attention is the detail of the spiral that makes a detour to the figure, which gives to this an excellent sensation of movement. Lots of details, a great work from Kotobukiya once again.

And about the photos for a figure review, for me as much as possible always will be welcome.
Congratulations for this new add to your desk, she looks super-nice next to Fauna.

Damn she is so cute. But no free shipping out of Japan, huh? If only that could happen, I'd be able to buy twice as much figs...

Number of photo's you do right now is ok; as much as necessary to bring out all the bit/angles, but not too many. BTW I was meaning to ask: you use your mac as background for the shoots, how does that go with lighting/exposure? I tried it once but had to tweak the camera a lot to keep the figure well-lit, yet also blended well with the background...

Danny, how's the paintwork on her skin, specifically her face? I own a couple of Kotobukiya figures, and while I'm quite satisified with them, the colour on the faces always seem a bit cool compared to, say, GSC's figures. The skin looks warmer on those.

I admittedly only own a few figures, so it might just so happen that the few I own are like that, but I'm curious.

Man that's such a cute figure but alas I ordered my figures for 1st half of the year. 10-20 pictures are enough for a review imo.

What a cutie! I won't get her though as I need the monies for other figures ^^

In my opinion the number of photos used in this figure review is just fine.

She's definitely cute , I must say ^.^ but I always thought Maryan Sempai is more of the pranks pulling type of character and that figure definitely doesn't look that way .

and by the way i'm more of Manaka Komaki type of person ^.^

Mahou Shoujo Maryan arrived at my local retailers this past week as week. I'm tempted to get Maryan but i decided not to make any scaled PVC purchases until Anime Expo 2009.

The more detailed the figure, the more photos. But I would say 6-7 of the best shots.

I think my favorite thing about this post is the video. What's with the girl in the wheel chair? It looks like she is constantly untended next to big hills and can't stop herself.
