Japanese Preparatory School

Yobikou [予備校] is a preparatory school designed to help students pass exams or get into a school of their choice. In addition to regular schooling fees, parents need to pay extra for prep school. Pronunciation is here.

Toshin is one of those prep schools and according to their stats, they have been able to get 1 out of 5 students into Tokyo University.

Stumbled onto Toshin's YouTube channel where they are offering English lessons online. From the looks of one of the lessons below, I think I would have fallen asleep straight away if I watched all of it - great for folks having trouble sleeping?
My Japanese classes were much more interesting and I remember being wide awake eager to learn more in each and every class.

However, Toshin do make commercials with cute girls in them - my fave being this megane musume.

How many of you attend or attended prep school? I don't think there was such a thing when I was a student - or was unaware of the existence of any.
