Mai Musume

As many of you already know, doll owners call their dolls "Musume" [娘[むすめ]] meaning "Daughter." The following is a true story that happened this week.
An engineer who we have been working with of late was due to come over to our office. In a mail, after agreeing on a time for the meeting, I said "When you come, I'll introduce my daughters to you."
On the day of the meeting, the engineer came round and brought some cakes with him - its quite normal in Japan for folks to bring foodstuffs to other offices when visiting. I often bring a load of goodies from Costco for the folks at Goodsmile.
I put the cakes in the refrigerator and we continued to talk about server configurations and stuff.
At the end of the meeting, I thanked the engineer for the cakes. He said:-
Not at all! You mentioned you had daughters so I bought the cakes for them.
I hesitated to tell him the truth for a bit and then giggled as I recalled that I said that I was going to introduce him to my daughters. I pointed to Mirai Saber and Aoi-chan and said "Please meet mai musume..."
I thought he was a bit of an otaku so would have known the true meaning of Musume ^^;
I took the above photo for him so that he would feel better knowing that I really did give the cakes to mai musume ^^; Sorry O-san!
