          Yeah I use a HTC Touch HD, so something compact that can scale up to a decent resolution would be nice.

            I personally love the latest round of HTC devices... But man oh man, WinMo is the only thing thats stopping me. If I could get a Touch HD with Android on it, I'd be the first in line. I've been using WinMo since 2005 or so, and do I hate it... Not even the OS itself, but IE in WinMo to mobile browsers is what IE6 is to desktop browsers. A complete train wreck which is a horrible pain to develop anything good for. :(

            Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to sound like I'm whining, but as someone who works on sites for a living, I can tell you that I spend as much time debugging (or rather breaking my code on purpose so it "works") for IE be it 6, 7 or the upcoming 8, as I do actually writing the code and having it production ready on Firefox, Safari, Opera, Chrome, etc etc etc... all browsers basically...

              I understand completely mate, I have written sites from scratch before, and don't relish the idea of going back and hacking my code to make it half decent across all platforms.

    Ooo, I approve of this highly - should prove useful through other phones and mediums too. Even on my netbook, I think this format would suit well. Will there be a way to access it if you're not using an iPhone?

      I'm still not entirely sure how we'll have the domains set up, but it may very well be something as simple as a m.dannychoo.com/regular url. Its just that if someone visits from an iPhone it will go to this version by default unless user states otherwise.

      You know, honestly I'm not entirely sure. I personally don't own a BlackBerry so I'm not too familiar with their UI guidelines, but depending on how well this goes though we will also probably make versions for other platforms as well.

      I'm not entirely sure about uploading posts, we still didn't discuss that part of it. But you will definitely be able to leave comments. Plus keep in mind that it, like the regular website would constantly be updated and polished so depending on the user feedback it will improve, add new features etc...

    So is this a mobile version of the site or is it an application for the site (much like, say, the Facebook application)? From what I've read it's kind of ambiguous. The mockup image is making it look more like an application.

    Also, how will it support users logging in?

    And another random thing: I just noticed that the battery meter's a number, so this is a mockup jailbroken iPhone? =P

          Most of the apps will work both on the iPhone and iTouch unless you are talking about apps that uses features exclusive to the iPhone such as the camera etc.

      Really... not really. I mean its not as if there is some universal one click formula for everything. Each site has to be tailored individually depending on what the primary focus of the site is, who is the end reader, what's the point of the site etc...

      All I could suggest is that the user experience of your site should be consistent with the overall user experience of the device its being viewed on. And for that what you could read are Apple's UI guidelines for developing webapps, and apps in general for the iPhone. Can be found at developer.apple.com

      We certainly won't block you from viewing it on the Storm, but with that said, don't expect everything to work 100% right off the bat. As neither of us uses a Storm, we can't really even test it atm. But with that said, yes, eventually we will try to make it as nice as possible on all devices.

    I don't own iPhone or iPod but this development could be beneficial even to me as I have noticed that my Symbian smartphone opens pages meant for iPhone pretty well. It currently have trouble opening DannyChoo (if I don't use Opera mini).
