Swift3D

Swift3D is the tool that I used to create the swirling hexagon animation that you see here and there on the site. While the abilities of Swift3D are cool, the UI has remained constantly crap on Windows and OSX - just see for yourself in the screenshot.
The Hexagons are created in Illustrator, beveled in 3DMax and animated in Swift3D. Now that I have given up on Windows, I will be doing much of my modeling in Swift3D - the package also comes with bog standard modeling capabilities too.
The rendering abilities are top class - render with/without shadowing, outlines, reduce surfaces etc.If you hate bad UI design then stay away - if you can put up with it however, you will find a class product hidden within.
