Trailer for the Last Blood movie due out in May is available for viewing below.

ANN has the nitty gritty below.
The activeAnime website has posted the 97-second British theatrical trailer for Chris Nahon and Pathé's live-action film adaptation of Mamoru Oshii and Hiroyuki Kitakubo's Blood: The Last Vampire anime. The screenplay is credited to the Production I.G anime studio's Kenji Kamiyama and Hong Kong's Ronny Yu. South Korea's Jeon Ji-hyun (under the English name of Gianna Jun) plays the main character Saya, a 16-year-old sword-wielding girl hunting down supernatural creatures. Japanese actress Koyuki plays her opponent Onigen.

The film will open in Japan on May 29 (under the title Last Blood), in the United Kingdom on June 12, and then in France on June 17. No American release plans for the movie have been officially announced yet. The Korean news website Star News reported last August that Universal Pictures acquired the domestic distribution rights, but the reported 2009 American release date is unconfirmed.

Tis on my watch list.

I remember Blood Plus being one of the first anime series that I blogged about in 2005. Saya-chan is a cutie. OP below.

While we are at it - some other clips of Jeon Ji-hyun who stars in the Blood movie below.

I'm going off at a tangent now but my fave Korean actress is Kim Ha Neul (김하늘).

Being a fan of both OVA & 50episodes anime myself, I would love to handle this project on their movie premier in M'sia (if it's going to launch in M'sia cinema).
Previous meeting with UIP (United International Pictures), I'd been tipped that they are holding the rights for this movie, but not sure whether it will be release locally, so far no poster of BLOOD in their office yet..........

Any recommendation of activities comrades would like to suggest?

LOL! nice suggestion, but I dont think there's Haji in this movie, not adaption from the 50ep anime, but from the OVA.

I read part of the Blood manga which was insaley gory. Looks like this will be more based on that rather than the blood plus series, which kinda went down a completely different road. I will definately watch it, eventually. Not really on my top to do list though.

    Greetings ¬

I am actually looking forward to this film.
I have been a fan of the Series since the beginning…

Blood: The Last Vampire (to me anyway and I guess I am in a minority) was a great small film, which showed the progress of 3d animation ( 2000 ) and the combination of language.

Blood+ The Series… was a little (odd) to say the least… but entertaining nonetheless, I did expect Saya to be as she was in Blood, but, I was surprised on her new look, as a result, I seen a surge of cosplayers becoming Saya (both - Blood and Blood+ - versions)

I read the Graphic novel and serialization, I liked the graphic novel best, as it followed suit with the original Blood and maintained the look of the main character.

I played the game and was impressed…and of course this lead to the obtaining the soundtracks...

Now a film? Of course I will watch this… it will be eye-candy laden goodness… :)

Better fair that was/will/is released currently… Streetfighter (the Chun-Li movie) and the dreaded Dragonball film.

I am curious though, why did they choose a Korean actress (instead) of a Japanese one?

Not, that I am complaining… just curious.

    Thanks for the read!

    Respects!

We'll see how true to the anime the movie is. Whether it is or not, the movie looks like it will do fine standalone anyways. Or at least, that's how it appears from the trailer. Just hope it isn't another Resident Evil. Those were pretty bad in my opinion.

      I do agree with you.

Anyway, it seems to be worth watching. The movie surely does not look as bad as the latest live actions (*cough* Dragon Ball *cough*). The unique problem is that if it is not released in the US it will certainly not be released here. =/

i'm completely fine with that. As long as the actress chosen match the look in the original anime...just try to imagine superman was played by an asian, i would definitely felt odd.

Some people stereotyped the girl in Kimono is Diva, because of the series....
I think the girl in Kimono is a whole new baddie.

That music is Hell Above Water by Curve from their album Gift. It was used in the Iron Man trailer as well as the Spider-Man trailer. And the Lunatic Calm mix of Curve's song Chinese Burn was used in the X-Men trailer. If you liked those tracks you should check out the rest of Curve's music.

More than likely, I am going to skip this one. Namely because I skipped the original anime movie, disliked the manga sequel, and trying to find time just to see if the manga version of BLOOD+ was better than the anime. (The anime was great from the beginning, but it felt like it lost it's luster around the second half.)

Then again, at least it is not an "American AKIRA" (link below).

this actually look a lot more decent than american dragonball etc
BUT A GIRL CAN'T POSSIBLY SWING A SWORD WITH ONE HAND!!! alrite, excuse the caps
but SHE ACTUALLY HELD THE SWORD CORRECTLY!! which is a +1. again, sorry for the caps

one problem though. I see some katakana on the background, but they're talking english. would've preferred to see the movie talking in nihongo especially when it is set in nippon, except the setting somehow transformed to a japan-town in some area of the USA if there is one... which obviously would be a -1

otherwise this seems like a good watch. it's in my watch-list

Finally a live action movie that looks some-what decent.

Unlike DBZ.....at least the main charrie is asian.

Maybe they wont brutally murder the anime, like all Live-actions seem to do.
