Fraulein Mikuru

Due out on the 1st of April is this Revoltech Fraulein figure of Maid Mikuru. She will retail for 2,500 yen and you can see more pics at Hobby Stock.

Hobby Stock is now the official distributor of the Fraulein series and they regularly send over some samples - the pre-release versions all have HIbaihin [非売品] or "Not for sale" stamped on the boxes together with the word "Sample" [サンプル] printed usually on the legs. Sampling Mikuru - sounds good ^^ Lovely shaped eyes too.

The quality of the Fraulein series do seem to be improving a lot over time - some of the initial ones looked rather odd indeed.

If you are interested in reading about life in Japan, seeing photos taken daily around Tokyo, like Japanese subculture (anime, manga, figures, Dollfies) then you may want to start delving into the Japan or Figure categories for a start or have a gander at all photo articles.

Hmm her hair looks pretty wierd... will be getting the figma version of maid mikuru instead.

The only thing i really dislike about the Fraulein line is their figure stands. Other than that their figures are pretty decent.

I think the Fraulein line is decent, but I'm definitely a bigger fan of Figma. I find that Fraulein don't tend to be as good with faces or joints, and the stand is pretty useless. Lots of extra parts for Mikuru, though, and her outfit looks nicely done.

however, it looks that frauleins are improving (look at how many hands they have) if figma wants to keep being king of the hill, then it will have to climb some more.

Figma always seems to have Apple fanboys on their side, so I'll go with Fraulein.

On a more serious note, I often wonder why criticisms of quality control for Figma gets buried under a tonne of forced positive (e.g: OMG SO MOE! WANT! PREORDERING THIS NAO!) while Fraulein's negative aspects gets highlighted bigger than another Jesus coverage on Times and Newsweek. True that some of the Frauleins that I bought deserve some degree of paddling session (legs falling off from their socket, in particular), but Figmas are not free of guilt either. When I got my Figma Tsuruya, I was pissed off to find that the hands were awful: it's all loose and wobbly, not smooth but firm like previous Figma releases. Also, I noticed my Figma Nagato's paintjob around the uniform's collar seems to be wearing off. I also heard other members complaining about broken joints, so that very much puts Figma around the same level as Revoltech once you discounted all the fanboys.

I'm putting Revoltech's Haruhi Frauleins under consideration since:
    1. I'm fast running outta space back home.
    2. I don't like owning merchandises of things/characters that I already own on a specific category.

I think that it's kinda a nasty competition by fraulein by releasing the same characters, I mean look at this one, it tells me I have more hands, more faces so I'm better, that's the message I got, not that I'm complaining, love extra accesories ^^; but I'm just saying they should at least release different characters.

Overall both have good/bad stuff, collect what I like from both so I call a tie.

Haven't seen a Fraulein irl, but I've had my share of problems with Figmas. I have 3 Figmas (Nanoha, Faith and Saber) and all of those had the same problem: the stand does not fit to the hole in the figures back. I had to modify all the stands with a hobby knife to make them work. Also the paintjob is not always that great and some pieces (like my Nanoha's hair) are so loose that they fall off, if the figure is moved.
The Mikuru in the picture looks pretty good by the way and her hands seem much harder to break than the ones that come with Figmas.

The only Revoltech I have is the Yoko one and it's awesome too. I actually like the joints on it more than any of my Figmas. My Shana figma has a bum hand that any little vibration makes it move. The paint jobs are about equal. Even the faces are good on my figmas and revoltech. As for accessories I have to say Figma wins there. Also the boxes look better too ^^

Video review with a fair comparison of the two.

    HARUHI FRAULEIN VS. HARUHI FIGMA

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8FFquICSCCo

What's most important to me in terms of action figures is the accuracy to the original character and the quality of the joints and accessories.

Something about the Fraulein is the FACE. The eyes are just set too far apart.

I like your videos! Thanks for taking time to do them! While I dont really agree 100% on Figma vs Fraulein points you gave, figma does seem to better over all. Posing of the figure cant really be geared toward how difficult it is to get the figure into the pose but wether or not it can do all the poses one wants~!

In my opinion, the reasoning you gave for the arm points arnt really something that can be complained about however, figma has far better ... whats the word ... hidden joints? Figma joints flow better in my eyes.

Although, this whole conversation is null as its based off each individual's opinion.

Thanks again for the nice review videos! (^^)/

I didn't really like the previous Fraulein figures but this one seems pretty good. Though I say that, I can't make a firm decision until I've played around with one. Even if it does turn out to be good, it doesn't mean I'll dislike the Figma series. To each and every figure line has its own uniqueness. One thing I will say is that the Fraulein Mikuru seems to possess more reliable joints for the hands.

Figmas have very good sculpts, and the materials are good, but they feel a little too fragile...

Revoltech's in general have better materials so they're tougher but sometimes the sculpts or the joints are a little weird...

I own 6 figma and 9 Fraulein figures, and to me, it's kinda a draw. Both figure series have their good points and bad points. I really think the Fraulein figures get a bad rep. Most of the actual product picture make the faces look really odd, but, when you actually get the figure in your hands, you see that they aren't that bad. I recently purchased the Haruhi Bunny Fraulein, and when comparing the face, they are nearly identical. I will continue to continue collecting the Fraulein figures over Figmas, because the Frauleins seem to have a bit more variety, rather then the continual release of the same figure in different clothing ;)

I still prefer Figmas~ though Revoltech joints are better in terms of toughness.

I feel that if one's not careful enough, the Figma joints may break..

I much prefer figma over revoltech because of the stand difference.

My Saber revoltech refuses to stand up properly no matter what I try. If only the figma stand would work for her. :(

Figmas for the win for me! xD

    That Fraulein Mikuru somehow looks weird in that pose. Maybe its the face and neck joint. Looks creepy ^^;

The fraulein lacked joint stability in their initial releases, I wonder how much improvement they had made now.

Figma is so much better...I honestly don't like reveltechs at all. I only got one on accident. The Haruhi bunny version and to be painfully honest, I DO NOT like her...the only reason she is in my collection is because, like an idiot, I forgot to cancel her.
