Kanu Unchou title=

I completely forgot to pre-order this and by the time I remembered she had sold out *everywhere*.
*none* of the online figure dealers or stores had her in stock.

Kanu Unchou title=

Comrades at Kid Nemo took pity and sent me one - another figure to add to my bunch of SAFS ^^;

Kanu Unchou title=

This 1/8 scale Alter figure of Kanu from Ikkitousen is probably the finest figure of Kanu to date.

Kanu Unchou title=

I heard from many who have this figure that she was castoff deficient but I didn't encounter this deficiency - the top half of her body pops off easily allowing her skirt to lift over her peeping eyes.

Kanu Unchou title=

One of these in the wallpaper pool.

Kanu Unchou title=

The only complaint that I would have about this figure is that the base is quite big compared to other figures of the same scale.

Kanu Unchou title=

If you have a review of this figure, feel free to share in the comments.

As we are on the subject of figures, thought I'd let you know that the translators from this weeks job posting are currently busy working on a few hundred figure descriptions and you should expect to see their work in an announcement soon.

Many other projects in the pipeline and will post job positions in my News Items.

In the near future I will need the talents of folks with the following abilities.
Japanese > Chinese (traditional/simplified) translation.
Japanese > French translation.
Japanese > Spanish translation.
Japanese > Korean translation.
CSS ninjas (fix any CSS problem for any browser).
jQuery programmers.
Data input staff (image uploading/data collection).
Program Managers (manage remote staff and small projects).

Please don't contact me now about these positions but just wanted to throw that out there to get an idea of how many of you are available for remote work and which skills you have.

Kanu Unchou title=

We recently talked about our weak points in the Oh My Goddess article and today I would like to touch on our strong points and skills.

Kanu Unchou title=

Its important to recognize your own strong points and skill set. If you have a skill set that you can use in an area that you are passionate about then you may be close to answering that "there must be more meaning to life" question that you may be asking yourself in the mornings.

Kanu Unchou title=

As a teenager, I didn't really think about my strong points or skills and as a result I ended up not knowing what I wanted from life for a long time.

Kanu Unchou title=

After discovering Japanese culture, I started to self study Japanese and recognized that I had the ability to absorb the language quicker than anticipated. I decided to improve my Japanese speaking skills by taking an entrance examination which got me into the second year of a BA at London university.

By further enhancing my Japanese speaking abilities, I managed to get into Japan Airlines and finally to Tokyo.

Kanu Unchou title=

Another one of my skills which I recognize is my creative ability. I realize that I like to create stuff and have many people enjoy that output - whether its designing shoes, making websites, filming videos or building Gunpla.

Another skill which I acquired much of at Amazon is my business negotiation skills. There are many business groups in Amazon and convincing groups to do something usually required the loss of a few limbs.

Kanu Unchou title=

So my job today involves my Japanese speaking, creative and business negotiation skills in a field which I am passionate about (which also involves free gadgets and figures ^^;)
One of my strong points of being able to focus on a task until completion complements these skills which enable me to grow my business at a rate which I'm pleased with.

Kanu Unchou title=

Recognizing your skills is not bragging - its not only important as an exercise to help your self development, its also crucial that you let others know of your abilities.

I think I've mentioned it before but my profile page has many of my skills and experience listed. I've seen many people link to that page and call me an idiot "show off", but at the same time I've made many comrades on the Internets and also many business clients who have required my skills and services through that page.

If I kept quiet about my skills/abilities just for the naysayers then they win and I loose - potential comrades/clients are not going to be able to guess my abilities.

Kanu Unchou title=

What I was hoping to do today is while we drool over pics of Kanu is to talk about our strong points and skills - see it as an exercise to help you discover what you can be doing right now to alter the path of the rest of your life.

Nice figure. Maybe I should get the figma version of her which is cheaper and poseable.
Regarding my strong points and skill? I do recognize them but not necessary able to use them all the time.

I know that I like to be creative as well hence I'm going into web design, but I think I'm more aware of my weaknesses than my strengths, one of my biggest weaknesses is maths... cannot stand the bloody subject, I failed my first year of college and had to repeat because of 1 maths class I couldn't pass :(

Obviously we all have strengths and skills, It's just for me I find it hard to actually identify them and move in a direction where my skills will be beneficial.

    Sorry for double posting.

My skills would be creativity, able to absorb knowledge quickly, planning, good analyzing skills, team player, accomplish leader and flexible. Yet to show most of it for my current job but my boss already recognized some of the skills I possessed which make me grateful.

I hope I'll be able to go after with all these skills and to gain other new skills as well. Gaining more skills won't hurt and will be beneficial to us.

    hmm
i guess my strong and weak point is that i'm too much of a perfectionist and many people call me 'too nice'

On the perfectionist side, i'd plan everything waaay ahead, prepare all that is required and come up with at least 3 or more contingency plans. But unfortunately, before i'd even start anything, i'd also plan/find ways to 'disprove' or even find major faults in the planning of my projects.
And from that, i'd conciously say "it's not worth doing this project anymore because it wont work", etcetcetc and then it all snowballs from there.

When ppl say i'm too nice, im not too sure, but i think it's that I'm too agreeable to help someone. Like i'd suddenly forget what i was doing and let my concertration wander to their needs without properly recognising that, I'm probably doing something important too. Maybe I can be summarised as someone who doesn't like to say "no" to any sort of request/help.

    yeah, my 2 cents...

For that reason, I Like George Camerons line from an interview he did once.

I can't completely say that I recognize my strong points completely but I'm at point where I can say that they're showing themselves and I'm exploring them one at a time to further narrow where my strengths lie. I have recently Taken up culinary arts, and as it turns out, with a bit of practice, I can improve upon it. One thing I have known for a while id my HR and PR skills. I often find myself thrown in situations where my mediation and PR skills have saved my neck as well as the others.

    Another insightful talk, Danny.

    voted "No." This might better fit in the weaknesses article but since you asked for those then I didn't feel like flodding ^^;

I have disqualified my strong points as being strong, when they tend to flee at times. It's the otaku characteristics that are conflicting. I haven't been able to apply my skills to areas outside of otakudom, both by opportunity and effort from the self, so while I can claim to have a certain skill, I don't substantiate it and make it proudly known. This leads me to think that maybe I haven't found my strengths yet, but in the meantime I am being less modest and publicizing my existence in case I do successfully soul-search.

I'm overly interest-driven so I expend more energy trying to do things I don't want to (= lack of discipline); I'm frustrated that many required tasks don't seem rewarding enough to me. I'm trying to see the value in these necessary tasks and eventually accept it because I haven't progressed in the goal to live any differently.

For now, I will take heed to making myself known in this networked world; just need to convince myself that I have nothing to lose and that it is worth it.

The things I do most passionately are because I put in the effort to learn myself. Hence what you see from me is what I've taught myself. I might be disrespecting quite a few of my schoolteachers for worldly knowledge, but I've never known of many role models otherwise. You are one of them, these days :)

Ugh, you know. It really rings true. Successful (working) people continuously work hard and do not simply wallow in a resulting potential lifestyle. Life-long learning is part of that. The burgeoning akiba-kei in me is a contrast that makes me aware of this fact, and I haven't been pulling my weight for some time.

i don't know what my strong points are but i sure know what my weak points are lol. I have major problems with communication and presence. I'd be hard pressed to effectively negotiate any situation. I would like to learn more of the japanese language, and feel that I am at a point where I am neither good nor bad at it, but would definitely like to be fluent in it someday. I am best at reading (uh..except most kanji lol), not so much writing, and speaking is absolutely terrible. It's not the area of education I focused on though, instead graduating from uni in an area that I also think I'm neither good nor bad in...well I think I'm definitely more on the bad side lol, but more importantly, a subject that I find a hard time being passionate about. So, I'm pretty much lost in life right now. I need to man up and focus on where I need to take it lol.

Oooo pretti ... I wanted to get this but Ikkitousen figures are always too sexy to be put on display in my room.

As for strong points. Previously I mentioned I'm a big procrastinator. Thankfully, I'm also very determined and have good self-awareness. So whenever I set my sights on something and start on it, I will just keep working at it until I achieve success. Probably my best strong point is the fact that I'm a quick learner. Throughout my past jobs I've been able to do tasks I hadn't known they existed, and that helped me to choose the skill set I'm more comfortable with.
I like to learn new idioms and am I'm curently trying to improve my English, studying Japanese and also starting to study a bit of Norwegian.
Through past web design interests, as well as my through current job, I developed HTML, CSS, Javascript, MySQL/MS SQL, PHP and (a bit of) Python skills, and seek daily improvement since this area of knowledge tends to change a lot.
In the arts department I've studied music - mainly drumming - for the most part of my life, and played some rock and jazz gigs. People have mixed opinions about my putting it on my CV, but I feel this kind of interest tells a lot about my creative nature and why I seek jobs that help me satisfy it.
Despite having said that, I must say my business skills are next to nothing, but let's not talk about my weaknesses. lol :P

i'm only disappointed that i couldn't take the electronics path first. i love electronics. more than writing software. both combined is what i'm aiming for now. or game development.

strange thing is that I've never given it much thought but I seem to like analyzing data and finding solutions. I remember the days I had as a programmer for a German company in Darmstadt and I realize I might have been happier building applications than computing for financial statements. don't get me wrong though, I like my current job, and the pay plus the fulfillment of seeing how my company grows is definitely more rewarding. it just seems I find programming a more enjoyable work than analyzing numbers. ^^

I think my best strong point is that I am a good listener and a quick learner for the most part. I am better with doing things hands on, but if you tell me how to do something, and then let me go ahead and do it, I usually do things right (or for the most part right) the first time.

Strong points/skills you ask? I'd like to say I recognize them, but I don't feel like I'm actually good at anything, able to do something that you won't find 10 other people to also do easily. I mean, I know a bit about a lot of stuff, but not so much that I can actually apply that knowlegde as 'skills' for anyone. I've spent the last 4 years on so many topics, from aerodynamics to finances and management, but it all remains introductory knowlegde to my feeling. Guess I'm still looking for that true skill to show itself....or the situation to apply it in.

i don't really know much about myself so i can't really say what are my strong points.

i believe it's easier for a third party to assess you and tell you what are your strong and weak points because sometimes a person might be too clouded to see what they are good and bad at.

secondly having a mentor, a person to look up will also give us a clearer direction where we want to go. someone who can inspire, motivate and give us a push when we get distracted.

I'm much better at recognising my weaknesses rather than my strengths.

But I guess strengths which are most prominent would be the ones which can be seen in my old job and my hobby of painting figures. a great amount of patience, an eye for details and I seem to understand stuff rather quickly and have been told that I explain stuff to people very well, although I need to keep "retraining" myself because I tend to forget stuff I learn just as quickly.

Strong points are determined by the demands of society right? since a skill or quality that is in demand by society is considered a strong point, while those that are not in demand are not considered as strong points.. if person A has a skill or quality that person B is looking for, then in person B's point of view, that skill or quality is considered as A's strong point, while in the eyes of others, it may not be considered as a strong point. am I right to say that?

Perhaps you have not told others of your strong points? I have enjoyed a long teaching career, which has, in turn, spawned others wanting to emulate me. THAT is praise. But I would not have been in this situation, had others not been aware, or told their friends about me. The trick is to advertise.

By the way, sometimes the best rewards are not financial.

Hahax.. I'm actually asking about the definiation of strong points, on would strong points be condsidered as strong points only if they were recognized as strong points.. I could consider myself to be inclined to the technical side, (stronger in technical stuff and weaker in language and humanities stuff) my economics teacher considered me to be a "lousy student" as i'm weak in humanities and unable to write 2-3 pages long answers (my answers are only 1/3 - 1/2 page long) and refused to teach me as it would be a "waste of her time". My stengths on the technical side are not recognized as they are not what my economics teacher wanted, and was deemed as as "lousy student"

that was what I was trying to say, but thanks for the tip and advice.. lol..

I like the hair sculpt on her, but I just can't bring myself to like Kanuu's basic character design. The fanservice is just too blatant without being classy at all to me.

For me, I can't exactly look at my strong points without looking at the weaker parts of my strong points. Still, those weaknesses are always good for a healthy challenge. For instance, when it comes to drawing, I'm pretty good at capturing motion, and at depicting fabric, but my foreshortening skills need some help and I'd like to be able to depict multiple kinds of fabric. (Well, at least with foreshortening I can claim my Figmas have a purpose--practice and research! *bricked*) I guess part of me knows that a strength can turn into a weakness if it isn't practiced and improved on.

    Hmmm nice figure...
I'm not shure if I really recognize my strong points, but what I'm now learning to value is the stuff I really WANT to do.

I'm graduated in computers, and was taking a course on game development just now, but I decided to drop it all off to pursue what I now understand I like the most: journalism.

So, I just trashed 10 years of my life to start all over again. Well, not completely trashed... lots of stuff I learned in these 10 years I'll still use in my new found path.
Also, if it wasn't for those 10 years I would never have gotten interest in journalism, nor would I have found out that I just can't work with programming, though I'm pretty much capable of.

The only true skill I do recognize is how much effort I can put in things that I have interest to.
Like reading 200+ news everyday about gadgets, anime and other stuff.
Like knowing every bit of detail on something I want to buy.

I can find lots of information on the Internet if I want to... it can take a very long time though.

I also know lots of stuff I'm not good, which is also a good thing since you don't waste your time trying to make them.

Oh, I do like to write a lot (kinda obvious). :P

Haha, thanx Danny for yet another "mix life philosophy with eye candy" post!

Although, if I may clarify or reiterate (for myself too), a *strong point* isn't necessarily the same thing as having a *passion*. For example, in college, I found the mathematics and mechanics of Civil Engineering to be rather straight-forward. But despite earning my bachelor's degree, I never quite felt the passion for it. So I dropped the master's program.

    Years later, while I've built a strong career as Technical Writer/Editor, I'm still searching for that central passion that typically resides in our extra-curricular (and non-profit) hobbies and amusements. Luckily in recent months, I've been able to devote some time, energy and *passion* to designing anime-style and non-anime-style art for ALIAS Fight Wear, which promotes women fighters. You've seen "Christine the Blade" (triangle mouth, lol), right? Cool gig, eh? So I think I'm treading in the right direction... ^_^;

Ahh, Danny, your lucky! xD I love Kanu. Actually, I love all the Ikkitousen girls, gotta have a bit of fan service once in a while.

I do believe I recognize my skills fairly well, I'm good with computers in general, and it's something I enjoy. Building computers, programming, creating things in or on a computer, I love it all. Even though it took me a long time to realize it, I found out that I really do love creating things, and I tend to be pretty good at it.

I haven't had a whole lot of education when it comes to programming languages and such, but I am in the process of learning right now. I tend to be able to pick things up, even if I don't know it, do a little googling and basically teach myself anything I need to know about it. Thats how I edited my blog's CSS, I didn't know a single thing about CSS before I started my blog. I know that I'm going to aim for a masters degree in Computer Science & Engineering, hopefully at UC Irvine here in California. And at the same time I know what I like, I know I love Japan and its culture, and I know I want to end up there, I've made it one of my goals.

I would most definitely be available for remote work, and since you want to assess what skills people here have, I will tell you mine. My programming knowledge is limited, I don't know a thing about jQuery and I know just a bit about CSS, but as I said above, I can pick up anything and teach myself what I need to know about it with a little help from google. I would be able to work at data input, and I think of myself as a good manager. Unfortunately I'm not fluent in any language other than English at the moment, that will be changing, but I don't know how long it will take. I would say, at this point the only jobs of those that you mentioned that I feel I could do well would be: Data input staff, and Project manager.

    My strength (and I guess my weakness too) is that I spread my knowledge across as wide a variety of subjects as I can, but that of course can sometimes keep me from really achieving a level of mastery in any one subject. Probably my strongest points are X/HTML and CSS (you need a CSS ninja, you say?) and science and math (I'm a physics major); I'm also proficient with *NIX (Linux and OSX moreso, BSD and Solaris and others less so), an aspiring programmer (Java, C, C++, Ruby, Python, PHP), and on again-off again with writing fiction and fan fiction, and music (viola and piano). But because I'm sometimes so thinly spread (video games go somewhere in there too) there are not very many things that I can claim to be an expert in, simply because I haven't set aside the time to dedicate myself to really getting into them and learning as much as I can. And aside from learning math and science for school, and working with Drupal for my job, being in college doesn't exactly afford me all the free time I could ever want for learning new things ^^;

At the moment I am working towards a career in music. I've always loved playing music and everything that goes with that. As such, over the years, to be able to get where I am, I have developed a tremendous amount of dedication to what I do, I sacrifice as much time as I can outside of work hours towards music. This Loyalty and dedication once I have set myself on something is probably one of my two strongest points.

The other is my open minded-ness, now that may sound simple, but it has really taught me to adapt very quickly, and learn extremely quickly, and as such problem solving in new territory and fields upon being asked to achieve something is what I do best. If I'm given something to do, I will find a way of doing it. Along with that I have developed a great eye for detail after years of scrutinising my own work for perfection in music.

But that all said, I'm still struggling because of my lack of confidence (which I work on every day), and becuase I'm not quite good enough yet to turn professional. Since I have a job that pays at the moment too, it becomes harder every day to up-sticks and follow my dreams to the bitter end, especially because bringing home money drastically takes away time I need to better myself, and be able to move on.

At the moment I'm looking for opportunity in work and life, and it's going very slowly at the moment. I have tried many times to kick start things, only for everything in my personal life to throw it back in my face, hopefully I'll get there soon.

Thanks once again for the talk Danny. And good luck to everyone else.

I like the figure, but a little too much hoo hah for me ^^.

Recognizing your strong points allows you to focus on what you do best. Typically, your strong points are probably in the arena of what you like to do- else why do you learn to do something so well, yet hate to do it?

I feel I am strong in engineering, but I am not the genious who is going to fix the energy problem. If I am taking electro-mechanical and I find that I am good with computer modeling and engineering then I will take that road. Already my major allows me some manufacturing technologies that I can combine with Solidworks/Autocadd- boom I am into making model kits. Making figures is a lot more difficult and it is something the computer has trouble doing- figures require a good sculptor. Making the base is easy- making the human (or subject) is not.

Data input staff (image uploading/data collection).
Program Managers (manage remote staff and small projects).

Those seem fit for me. I volunteer for a program call CSC and I loiter around. I help with data input from time to time. For programing I think that is my strongest point because I have a tendency to plan a whole week or month of my study time, eat, sleep, excerise, and etc. Danny can you explain more about Program Managers?

However I am pursing to be a storyboard artist/director/reporter/freelance writer/ and want to learn so many things such as Guitar, Piano, Guzheng, sculpting, and Computer language. All I have to say is that life is too short, so I have already start on these goals.

Program Managers basically manage projects. At Amazon and Microsoft there were two types - the PM (Program Manager) and TPM (Technical Program Manager) who required a computer science background.

Anything that requires a business background? I'm looking for a secondary major aside from Japanese right now, and as much as I could do programming if I wanted to, I don't really love it to the point of a career path. Every job I've looked at that's bi-lingual that's not "native speaker required" is usually paired with engineering or programming. Though that's here, I get Gaijinpot everyday in my e-mail and those jobs seem to pay quite well and don't require nearly as much, and I do plan on working on your side of the pond somewhat soon (hopefully very soon).

I'm in my second year in university (business) and I'm not really sure where I am heading. I entered the business faculty because of what it could bring in the future although I am not excited about my route. When I was young, I loved to read and I loved to draw. I had this notebook full of clothing designs. I thought I would be a writer when I grew up. Of course, I know that it won't bring in the big money now. In the back of my mind, I want to major in English. Kind of conflicting in that sense.

I recognize my strong points and skills, and try to put them to use, even a little bit, every day. I am quite creative, as well as artistic (those are two different things, by the way). I find different ways of approaching situations, and I am good at resolving conflicts and fixing problems. For those reasons, I proof-read all of my friend's college work. He knows that I can always find a better way of wording a sentence that just doesn't read well, or pick out typos/incorrect spellings.

I really enjoy helping people. Like Miyuki, from Lucky Star, I am the one who usually explains things to my friends. Although, I try not to be pushy or argumentative if they disagree.

This is a bit difficult for me because the things I could say are my strong points and/or skills are also things that have also come under fire from people before.

For example, I'm really good at explaining and helping people with electronics. On the other hand I've had people say I lack communication skills.

I type/write a lot on the internet whether it be in the form of rants, news articles, or simple talk. Yet I failed almost every year of High school English and had to make it all up every summer. (Amazing I pulled that off actually ^_^;)

Basically I feel obligated to let other people tell me what my strengths are. Unfortunately by doing so I feel I have no strengths at all.

"Basically I feel obligated to let other people tell me what my strengths are. Unfortunately by doing so I feel I have no strengths at all." I think a lot of people feel that way, like I said in my post, I don't NEED external validation (which is more or less what you're describing), but it helps. If you're not a naturally introspective person, and don't think about things like that often, then it's probably normal that you need other people to tell you what your strengths are.

    Upon thinking about this I realized that I'm a total paradox in certain ways. I'm very headstrong and once I get motivated toward a goal I see it through utterly, but I'm easily daunted in the beginning and give up sometimes if I feel that I'm not catching on right away. I have a natural aptitude for languages, especially Japanese, but I never really saw that as a "realistic" career goal when I started college, so I didn't really pursue it solidly until... well I'm still pursuing it. ^^; I've been told I'm one hell of a writer. I'm a decent artist and extremely creative. I cook and bake very well. I'm technologically savvy. However... I have issues prioritizing (especially, ironically I'm posting it on this site, achieving solid, normal goals over hobbies such as figures and games) especially with money matters. Overall I think the fact that I was never taught to believe in myself or that I could do or contribute anything worthwhile from just about all sources throughout my life, I've never really become self-reliant or had any real self worth. That's not to say I define myself by external validation, but I've been damaged goods from being a tender lad of like 2 or 3 years old. And again, ironically and paradoxically, at a very young age I was tested and found out I was a genius and well naturally when you're a child and you excel at everything intellectual when you're younger, you think you don't have to study or anything, and it caught up with me in a big way later on. I'm incredibly indecisive, and have an interest in a lot of different things, and that's pretty much why I haven't picked a clear career path yet. I used to be very socially adept, but in the last 5 years or so, I've become socially akward, and it disheartens me to the point of withdrawal, like a hikikomori at times. That had a lot to do with the job I had for 4 years or so, I stopped meeting people of my age group, and I live in an area that even the most free of spirits that were friends before started settling for the white picket fence/house/car/dog/whoever they end up with they end up with till they get divorced, thing. Wow, I guess I'm listing lots of faults and not my strong points. Honestly I read some of the posts first and not the article so much, so I wrote the negatives because some other people included faults as well as strengths, because I thought the article was about both. So I guess I radically need to alter the path my life is going down. -_-;

Over the years it feels as though all I've done is gain weaknesses. Perhaps there's a hidden strength lurking deep withing me... but I just can't seem to pinpoint it. I've tried to gain skills but nothing interested me for a long enough period of time, and my procrastination got the better of me. I'm going to work hard to learn Japanese, and work hard to raise my son the best I can, and conquer my fears. If things go right I'll start to use my weaknesses as tools and maybe even turn them into strengths... I guess I'm just at a point in life where I know something has to change but I'm not sure where to start. I'm sort of in the middle of transitioning from one lifestyle to another. I need to meet more people and set up more of a network that's for sure. The only thing I have planned right now is that I'm going to learn to read, write and speak Japanese and hopefully that will open new doors of opportunity.

You know, reading through these, it makes me think that this community/site is completely unique. There's no driving commercial force behind our random interactions on here, nor is there any sort of common denominator linking everyone the reads this. Sure a lot of us might have similar interests, but not exactly the same. But a good majority of people that visit this site, without any real pretense or reason, are just naturally very nice to one another for the most part, civil, and this is just proof of it. A lot of these posts (myself included) are people pouring their hearts out, and web forums are usually the antithesis of a "digital heart-to-heart", empathy, sympathy and borderline therapeutic. It's just amazing, and it makes me feel good to know that nice, intelligent people exist, even in the faceless free-for-all of the Internet.

Oh, good golly. Not another figure. I don't need another one right now. XP

Strengths? Um, I'm a quick learner and I am constantly learning new materials. My dad says that of all the kids, I'm the most cultured of them and by that, I mean that I know stuff from other cultures besides my own very well.

I also am pretty creative and most of the time, when I plan a task, I get it done. I don't just plan for only what's going now. I am thinking way ahead, some cases being as far as a year ahead or more.

Oh! I am a good listener as well. Can't forget that.

As for weaknesses, where do I begin? This will be the death of me, but I am not very good at cooking. Outside of sweet crepes, I can't cook many things very well.

Another weakness I have is that I do not utilize my strengths enough. Don't get this? A very good example is that even though I know a good amount of materials, I don't put them into use a lot. If I can point out a source on why is this the case, it's the fact that I never liked school. As much as I want to go back to school, I am scared that my hatred for school will come back to consume me again and I don't get the grades I used to get back in the middle part of my high school years and prior. There is that and I am now juggling a lot of stuff now.

Oh yeah. I can be lazy every now and then. There are cases in which I "pretend" that my site doesn't exist and I would do something like play some game I want to finish (or in one of Zepy's old cases, watch the "Sugar" special).

This was the kind of article I needed. Seeing that I am going through changes now, I felt that I should try to reflect back on where I am at on the road of life and looking at my own strengths and weaknesses was one way to do so. I hope I find that ultimate destination some day, but until then, I have to constantly look over at what I need to do.

    Love the figure. Very distracting article... ^_^;

I'd say my strong points are that I'm a jack-of-all-trades and can adapt quickly to situations. It's allowed me to study various subjects (e.g. chemistry, computer science, mathematics, culture, religion, politics), work a variety of jobs (e.g. construction, demolition, office aid, weapons controller, instructor), and survive a plethora of social ladders (e.g. homelessness, business, labor, politics, military). While I may not perfect any one-thing, I gain a high-level of proficiency at everything I undertake, which has allowed me, for the most part, to steer my life as I please.

I have a thing to figure how things work. I notice patterns in everyday life and can start to make predictions based on previous experiences. I see possibilities that no one takes notice of and like to see it be productive. I like to help people on their technical problems. I can figure most things out by a little of trial and error and troubleshooting. I can understand even the most awesome concepts and can put them into use. I have a hard time trying to organize things into order. I don't want to stay one the sidelines and want to go do it. I have a hard time with English due to a auditory disorder and put my thoughts into words. (Yeah I can hear, but could not make sense of people's speech and phonics. I say the most disconnected word patterns to speak my mind.)

That lead me to find what a really want. To be the best at what I do while making it productive and easy to explain. I picked up Japanese like cold in the summer and got allergies during the Fall. Easy but not by much. I say English is my "second" language. I know math like the back of my hand and think calculators are dumb. Try to do a indefinite integral on a TI or HP and it looks like poo but when done by hand it is reduced and looks simple. I use slide rules to piss the teachers off and classmates and get A's. Also I did not use a textbook either! I think in terms of Japanese and blurt out stuff in it. Cuss at drivers in Japanese. I finally make success in college after five years of failing and half starts. Less than 40 hours of study to be a certified pharmacy technician. I play a yamaha trumpet and put a Yowane Haku picture on my graphing calculator case. Know basic computer programming in Java, HP RPL and RPN keystroke. Capacity for more.

I do good car repair and maintenance. Pulled engines out of three cars and a lot of various work. Took auto class at the same time taking AP calculus and High school band. Those are like half of my strong points. I have a ability to see the big picture while not forgetting the little details. That is I want to run a business too. Because I can. A Otaku store in New Mexico. I know a lot of world history and a active participant in politics. I do care, but I will help you till the point of self-reliance.

I can do anything I put my mind to. That is my strong point.

I think I have already find my strong points, at least professionnaly. Since 2004 I am deeply passionate by the creation of web sites. I have gain from self-trainning a very good knowledge of the W3C recommendations HTML/XHTML and CSS (I have even read the recommendations on the W3C website ^^), and also of the problems from cross-browsers compatibility (curse you IE and your hasLayout!) The years passes and now I am involved in different groups promoting Web Standards (I am a member of the WaSP Internationnal Liaison Group http://www.webstandards.org/action/ilg/).
I have also strong knowledges on web accessibility and SEO (I have worked in a good SEO firm).

I really love thinking about the ergonomy and the design of website. How can I make the website easy to use and attractive with also a good navigation? It's never easy but so interesting!

Knowing all this, I know I have to work on the front end of a website. I can understand PHP/MySQL. And if I was trainning hard I think I could have a very good level, but I find it more interesting to work on the front end. My knowledge of PHP/MySQL let me work with programmers and understand what can be done. (and sometimes let me correct the bugs myself ^^)

In september I will finish my study with a bachelor degree. Sadly I have learned nothing in my last year. I have even stand in for the lecturer on a XHTML/CSS class! I find it very sad that universities still can't teach properly how to make websites... But I know how to do, and I am eager to start working on a job that suits me! (My work right know is not very interesting)

I am not afraid to work on very complicated and hard projects. It really boost me, even if I am always good to identify all the difficulties we are going to meet. (love this strong point, so useful! I try to always be forward thinking)

I also love explainning and teaching, so I really think I should find a way in some years to teach how to make good websites to professionnals. I am already starting this with my work with the WaSP ILG. I have already done 2 workshops on CSS at Paris (I am french ^^)

I am also a strong believer that hard work and motivation is the key to do what you want! (I keep explaining this to everyone I meet ^^)

Weak point : If I am not careful, I procrastinate. It's like I am trying to be on stress to work faster (and sometimes better)... I have to correct this otherwise I will not live long...

I was thinking to start working in Japan in 2 years. But Danny will maybe change this. :P

university just started and life's kinda hectic... scheduling my timetable, checking out the different clubs and societies to join and the dreaded homework! i am feeling so dragged down by everything, i don't have the time to seriously sort out my pros and cons. They say university's the best time to do what you want i say bs. with competition looming from the foreigners, getting good grades is no walk in the park. I am also starting to seriously doubt my course of study (electrical engineering btw). Regardless of what they say about the excellent career prospects engineers have, the education they receive does not prepare them for real life. in short it's unpractical. yet, living in singapore, peer pressure can be overwhelming. As the eldest in the family, I am expected to emulate the typical singaporean, that is, to get a stable job with a fat paycheck. I tried resisting them and even pointing out Danny's achievements, but they say he's a dime in dozen, a rarity, so to speak.

That said, I recognise my own strong points. I am a diligent and fastidious worker and always keen to learn, especially when it comes to IT stuff, albeit only briefly. I speak rather decent english but I can't speak chinese to save myself. Like many others, my weak points are procrastinating, indecisiveness and easily discouraged.

My strongest points? It had to be to deliver work spotless and without any complaints (in programming term...bugs). But sometimes it my weak points. Much like Cyberchaos's strong and weak points.

I'm practical, and I get things done. I know for a fact that people find me easy to trust, and to keep it that way I often go to great and extreme lengths to keep my word. There's nothing more binding to me than a promise. The downside to this is that I hesitate when people ask me to do things - more than I should - simply because I'm not absolutely sure I can fulfill their expectations. It's made me miss quite a few opportunities.

I like to think that I'm reasonably creative - I'm studying film as a career, after all, and I've been told I have a natural talent for sketching and photography that has yet to be fully developed. At the same time though, these strengths are balanced by the fact that I don't socialize enough under my own initiative. If no-one asks, I'll more likely than not just sit at home, so the networking that's so essential to a fine arts career is rather sparse and non-existent so far.

Very nice figure. Haven't read or watched Ikki Tousen yet but I should get around to it....

As far as strong points though I think I'm good a drawing. People tell me that I'm good but it's hard for a person to tell if they're actually a good artist or if people are just complimenting them to make them feel good. I like to do it so that's what I'm going to college for. I'd honestly like to be a mangaka but that seems impossible about now. It seems I'll just have to get better at drawing and get a job as a graphic designer or game designer.

Oh and I'm also comfortable with public speaking but have no idea where that sole skill would apply in a career other than as a politician and that whole career is definitely not what I'm looking for.

I have this figure as well and I can really say it's my favorite figure (figures I own) to date. ^^ Just looks gorgeous.

I have quite a lot of strong points. I get interested with basically anything and I can really multitask work to the point where some people think I can't get any of the work done since I do so many of them at once. Boy, are they wrong. ^^ Also when I try to learn something I don't just learn how it should be done or it works this way or that but also why it works like that. Same thing with solving problems, i also try to fix the problem by fixing the root cause and not just temporary solutions to problems. Coz I learned it the hard way (through programming) that temporary solutions are just that...temporary. and they can really cause big problems in the future.

I'll be keeping an eye on that CSS Ninja and jquery position =) Leaning towards more on the CSS ninja though. XD

    Cool figure!

I'm available for otaku programming work (C#, .NET, SQL Server, ASP, PHP etc.) if anything comes up.

I started my own software business back in 2002 after I lost my job in the dot com crash. It took a lot of motivation, especially to write the software's documentation, installers, etc. etc. However, it was really worthwhile as it's paid for my Japan trips (going again in October 08!)

Funnily enough I spent years at Uni training to be a Biochemist, but tinkering around with HTML and JavaScript in my spare time lead to me accidentally stumbling into a web development career.

I've pondered over my strong points before. All of what I thought were my strong points I havn't actually carried on to now so now I don't know if they still are. I've realised there are a lot of things I have wished I was good at and attempted to do so but I really can't get strong in it; like drawing. I know I have plenty of weaknesses, and knowing these isn't nice.

BTW - one thing is very clear. Men the world over love "western" proportions on women. So while women think we love bone skinny, that just ain't quite the story. We like em phat, ya dig, just don't get sloppy ladies, that is a no go. But look at the voluptuous nature of these Figures. That they sell says it all.

    I am done. Thank you.
