Anime Statues title=

Continuing on from yesterdays hobby show for traders.
First off is a figure I'm most looking forward to - Unity Yuno from the eroge Unity Marriage - A Good Smile release. See her in action below.

Anime Statues title=

At the Artstorm section.

Anime Statues title=

Freeing Asakura.

Anime Statues title=

Lu Bu Len - Freeing.

Anime Statues title=

Pixie Hiyori - Good Smile.

Anime Statues title=

More Pixie Hiyori.
Mmmmm. Yoko Pai.

Anime Statues title=

Emiri Kimidori - Freeing.

Anime Statues title=

Hmmm. Same shot of Asakura - Freeing. I prefer this one to Emiri. But I'll take both anyway ^^;

Anime Statues title=

Canal - Artstorm.

Anime Statues title=

Another Shunya Artstorm figure - sorry forgot the name ^^;

Anime Statues title=

I guess she does not get the problem of pants-going-up-bum-crease - don't you just hate it when that happens?
What is your strategy for adjusting your pants when that happens?

Anime Statues title=

No sign of cast off.

Anime Statues title=

Human Mage - Good Smile.

Anime Statues title=
Anime Statues title=
Anime Statues title=

Saber at the Good Smile desk.

Anime Statues title=

Me prefer the anime face version.

Anime Statues title=

Hatsune Miku - GSC.

Anime Statues title=
Anime Statues title=

Gah - name that figrue.

Anime Statues title=

Erm, name that figure ^^;

Anime Statues title=

.....Name those Max Factory maids.

Anime Statues title=

Spoken about her before but cant remember details - I think she was at the Atelier Sai desk. Castoffable desu.

Anime Statues title=

Name that figure.

Anime Statues title=

I just realize how lousy I am at taking notes. I think I'll stop here before I embarrass myself further more ^^;

Anime Statues title=

Oh and regarding to the title of this post - it seems that many folks refer to figures as being "statues."
Do you prefer the wording "statues" or "figures"?

      I'm also seeing some Full Metal Panic! figmas... with WEAPONS! *drool*

      I prefer them to be called figures instead of statues. When one mentions the word "statues", it reminds me of those big, cold, grey and historical ones that are made to remember someone who was important or a very memorable event.

    Ahhh! So much I want, why must you tease so much! xD Just kidding, I love seeing pictures of new stuff, I get what I can.

    Err, I don't usually have any problems when it comes to my pants and going anywhere north of where they're supposed to. lol

    As for your question about the name statue or figure; from what I have observed, people who are more into anime, figures and such things tend to call them figures. People who aren't really into it but are simply exposed, willingly or not, tend to call them statues. Personally it tends to get on my nerves when I hear people calling them statues, but that's me being unreasonable, because in all reality they are statues. I will personally use the name figures, and I will also try to get other people to call them by that also, but I'm willing to accept the fact that they will still be called statues by some, it's a given.

      I forgot to add, those are my observations here in America, I would be interested in knowing exactly how many people and what type of people over there in Japan call them what. Over here, people tend to get looked down upon by the majority of society if they are over the age of about 14 and they watch anime, read manga, like figures, or anything of the sort. Those who look down on the American otaku tend to be the ones who refer to figures as statues more often. "Why do you still play with those little statues?", that's one I've heard from them quite often.

    Hmm...I think statues would probably be incorrect. They fit the term figurine just fine with the figmas being action figures similar to GI Joe.

    The first 'name that figure' is Shiki Tohno, the alternate universe Shiki though. From Kara no Kyoukai. And theres another from Tsukihime who's a 'name that figure' Akiha Tohno, the sister of the Tsukihime-universe Shiki Tohno.

    Thanks Danny for the coverage! I think it's just semantics. Statues, figures, whatever.

    I've already pre-ordered:

    Freeing Emiri Kimidori
    Freeing Ryoko Asakura
    Lineage 2 Human Mage

    Figures I'm eagerly anticipating from your coverage:

    Ryougi Shiki (両儀 式) from the anime OVA Kara no Kyoukai (空の境界) (Scheduled Nov release)
    Pixie Hiyori from Chu x Chu Idol

    Figures that I haven't seen before and thinks it looks really interesting:

    Sister Hell from Prism Ark (I guess this makes up for missing out on the recent cold-cast release by Aizu Project)

    Unity Yuno looks beautiful! I'm gonna keep an eye out for her preorder!

    I always thought that statues are sculptures that are usually too large to be considered as figurines...like the ones placed in the garden or outside.

    ...Though a life-size Saber statue posing with her Excalibur would be KICK ASS.

    I think the term figure is more correct as well. after all, not all of them are immobile.

    I call uncompleted models, kits and completed ones figures. Makes things simple. I don't think I would ever call them statues.

    But nothing on the above list for me.

    My want list would be the To Heart chibi (is that the right word?) figures and the "un-named" girl in the kimono with samurai sword. As for preference of name, I like the term figures. It seems to have more life in the name than the word statue.

    Well, the definition of "statue" is:

    "a three-dimensional work of art, as a representational or abstract form, carved in stone or wood, molded in a plastic material, cast in bronze, or the like"

    Taking that definition and applying it to bishoujo models: they are three dimensional, representational, and molded and cast in and from plastic. To summarize, any sculpting could be considered a statue, whether or not it is anthropomorphized.

    The definition of "figure" as it relates to modeling:

    "a representation, pictorial or sculptured, especially of the human form"

    The key distinction here is that the word "figure" emphasizes the display of the human element, the role of anatomy and capturing of the human form.

    To this ends, it's quite correct to call bishoujo figures just that: figures. While it isn't incorrect to refer to them as statues, the word "figures" lends itself to a more accurate description.

    I want that Miku but I'm probably not going to get her--my current monetary plans include textbooks and cosplay, so only Figmas for me. ^^;

    If they're smaller than life-size, I'm inclined to call them figures, especially if they're in full color paint. If they're life-size or larger, I'm more inclined to call them statues, especially if they're depicted exlusively in the color of the medium they're made in. And if it's a OOAK piece, then I'll tend to call it a sculpture. Unless it's a mod of an existing piece. Then it's a mod or a custom.

    mmm lots of goodies there eh Danny:) Lovely figures,both cute and sexy;) I'm interested in the girl at the end of the shoot,I love girls with light blue hair^^
    As for the question,I guess both to me,combining them would make it easier, maybe "Stigures" or how about "Statures" eh? XD
    A "statue" to me is a beautiful work of art and a very decorative piece,BUT,it also makes it seem cold and lifeless,As for "Figure",it has more action,life to it,BUT,doesn't make you think of decorations or art,it sounds a little kiddish too.So Maybe they should make a word to combine them or represent them both,because to me they are both;) *Time to think of a new word Danny;)*
    Nice coverage,enjoyed the pics,thanks^^
