Worlds Most Expensive CD

The worlds most expensive CD went on sale yesterday at the Takashimaya department store at Nihonbashi.
The CD costs a piffling 10,000,000 yen (about 100,836 USD) and comes with a platinum case with 2 carats worth of embedded diamonds.
The CD without the platinum case and diamonds can be found at Amazon for just a bit cheaper at 1,980 yen.
Sankei reports that the publisher of the CD Universal Music is trying to get the CD into the Guinness Book O Records.

Speaking of CD's, when was the last time you purchased one? I think the last one I got was a few years back which was the OST for the Pixar Incredibles.

Lucky. I love DWP. Their shows are always so great and Reptar, King of the Ozone is an awesome song!

      Regarding the CD: O_O

Regarding the poll: I don't buy CDs. I just burn what I have or get music from my friends. Files don't get scratched y'know. ^_^

That is some absurd packaging. I mean, I love jewelry, and I love making it even more, but using the platinum and diamonds in a freakin' CD case? And then charging that much for it?! It's just stupid. I'd rather save up for the raw supplies and make something more creative.

I think the last physical CD I bought of my own accord was the WALL•E soundtrack, though my mom talked me into buying and sharing some symphonic metal not too long ago. Angtoria was the one, I think. I've been either buying digital copies or Jack Sparrowing music more often lately. ^^; Also, a lot of what I've been getting lately is Vocaloid stuff, which of course is best downloaded.

Does a soundtrack bundled with a game count? I got persona 4 a while ago and it comes with a OST with half of the songs from the full OST, which i plan to get sometime soon. If not the last music cd i got was probably a decade ago, it was a Blink 182 soundtrack for my cousin for christmas.

So does a Woman jump out of the CD player when that one is played from the Woman CD or does a Man jump out? I might wait till the Man CD comes out with the expensive case to get the Woman who jumps out of it. . . . . .

Last CDs I got were Miku Hatsune - RE:packaged and Aya Hirano - Riot Girl and the late Eri Kawai's - Kaze no Michi e. Got a whole lot before that from Playasia as well on the order before. Last local CD (normal music I listen to here was) AC/DC Black Ice.

I haven't purchased a CD since i retired my CD player for a second time
    around.

And i thought the content on the CD would have given this a pricey tag.

Though i won't deny i never spent a lot of money on CD's before. I've
bought discontinued Rap and Hip Hop CD's that seem unreasonable to people
    who aren't real fans.

Most of my expensive CD's are music from MF Doom and MF Grimm. :O

I managed to find a discography of one of my favorite artists: Emilie Autumn in FLAC. Its pure awesome. It was good enough that I bought the best album online.. Had to be imported form Europe though so it was like 30 bucks... But it was my way of at least partially reimbursing an awesome artist.

More than a year ago. And it was an exception, because it was a friend's CD, so I had to buy it :)

But at least here in Brazil, CDs are too expensive. Let's face it, if I had to buy everything I listen to I wouldn't have the money. And I wouldn't find everything I want around here, too.

I like CDs, but with these prices around here and the poor quality of the material and the little catalog, unfotunatelly CDs have become a thing of the past for me.

I buy DVDs, for example. They are much cheaper in comparisson (wich I founf absurd) and I'm proud of having a beautiful original collection of movies, still with much to grow.

Usually get musics from the net, but there some artists what i really like so i buy the CDS for collection. after all, if anyone buy his CD, the band will disappear, and it is not good... the same for DVDS of movie, anime too, buying then make the anime, movie more famous and get more attention for sequels and merchandise.

With internet around, I only buy important CDs, like Star Wars' OST and Neon Genesis Evangelion's. Since I collect both of them, it is kind of an obligation to have the cds. Even so, CDs are the last thing in my "must buy" list, since they're pretty expensive around here and I already have all the tracks in Media Player as well. XD

I wonder how good the themes are.. for that price... my ears should explode of beautifulness.
Rather the cheap version is more like me, my CD cases fell a lot and broke easily, It'll not be fun to broke a 100k$ case...

I usually download all my music, got over 11gb of MP3. I'm not happy with it, but here you *CAN'T* get any original CD. The only original CD sold even at big big shops, are from local artist or well-know yankees music.
Europe music? Asian music? No-no, import only, and customs only allow you one or two CD per year, they will confiscate any more if you don't register as an importer (or pay taxs like 6x the CD price).

Regularly, I buy at YesAsia or Play-Asia some original CD's, of albums I already got downloaded but I like them so much I want to support the company. Like 8 or 10 disc a year.
My last ones where FF Distant Worlds, and Persona 4 OST.
