Hey Danny why do you carry a Mikuru figma with you wherever you go? Just curious. I really love the photo shot that you took of the Makoto Sawatari figma. I love the way her hair is, its friggen amazing.

Oh btw for the Kyon camera thing, I sense a picture of him doing some underskirt shots of Haruhi coming soon. Good Stuff.

I think I would be open to circulating figures around, though only with reputable collectors. It's kind of tricky though; most of us collect to own. I would be interested to know what kind of effect that "sampling" a figure before just purchasing your own copy would have on business; it could be like what happened to sales of physical music CDs since e-commerce became normal.

nah i wouldn't buy a second hand figure, i like brand new figures ^^. now Kyon is already on my list camera=wicked things!

Figure circulation system sounds good. I'll be back in the States soon, and it won't be so easy to come by such things. T___T

I just started collecting figures, so I don't know if I'll buy second hand or not. In any case I prefer brand new except the second hand came from a friend and still in good shape.

The one time I took a figma out with me, I put it in a hard glasses case.

I like the idea of hibernating figures but having two of the same figures kinda messes up my mind a bit xD

I tend to buy premade figures firsthand only- my hope is that by doing that I encourage companies to make more of the figures I'd like to see. When it comes to resin kits, some of the older kits I have to buy second-hand, as they are much more limited run deals.

i'd Take my figma around with me if i had one.

Love the waitress Mikuru figure, probably one of the best I have seen of her. Sounds like you have alot of fun with your Figures Danny. I tend to be overly cautious with mine.

I'd buy second hand figs if they were ones that were older and a pain to find new (for a reasonable price). I can't wait to get that MF Mikuru myself! I missed the first one and I have the rest of the girls so I need her to balance out the set. Plus I like that one a lot more cause she'll match Tsuruya!

I have all the Haruhi figmas pre-ordered....but I'm worried they'll come out with more that I like better and I'll just have to stay with my originals. Like that new Yuki with her witch outfit...if they give the rest their own fun accessories in different release I'll be pretty sad.

*sigh* gawd danny. you are so lucky. i still have yet to get my 1st figure and you have so many figures that you even have hibernating figures! i are envious.

I don't carry figures with me... well not yet. xD

Recently bought a Saber figma out of curiosity and now I'm addicted but missed preorders for Mikuru and Tohsaka Rin. So obsessive is this hobby. @_@; A second hand figure is not entirely a bad idea, after all one man's garbage is another's treasure. I'm sure sometimes you just have to get rid of things to make space and sacrifices have to be made. Better than binning them.

I did bought a 2nd hand figure before.
Well, if you know the owner/how it was kept, shouldnt be an issue.
Its a good way to offload your least wanted ones to fellow collectors

I would consider buying 2nd had figures if it was something no longer available, and/or if it's in good condition.

I do have some figures i wanna get rid of myself. Maybe only 3.

I so want Feena. Sometimes I laugh at myself because I know I've said before here on DC, that I have a hard time justifying the purchase of these figures, but at the same time I always want one.

I really like the Feena and Sawatari Makoto figures.
I like the idea of buying/selling second hand figures. It will be tough to ensure that transactions go smoothly. And of course the current state of the figure.

I bring my dolls out, I wrap them in a soft towel and put in my bag ^^ I know if I play with my dolls a lot (take out, take pix, change clothes etc) sometimes their make up (blush/eye shadow) gets worn out :(

If you ever run out of space to store your SAFs, you could always give them to me. XD

I usually like my figures brand new and untouched, but if a trusted friend decides to let one of his go, I might offer to give it a new home...

Ive personally not brought a second hand figure, but ive sold LOADS of my old figures on ebay no problem, with many, many satisfied customers. I look after my figures, and keep the boxes for this reason, and if there are any defects or faults (broken joints, leaning etc) i tell the buyer of them honestly.

I wouldn't buy secnond hand figures.. it's hard to explain but I guess the joy of buying it brand new has be related.

Yup- would not mind buying second hand stuff- if I get a look at it first. Whether it's video games or figures, I trust that many Otaku take care of their stuff in pretty much immaculate condition (which is why I do so too) so most of the time I trust things are in good condition. I bought Kingdom Hearts the other day for $7.99 USD (never got to play it) and I checked the underside of the disk- it was immaculate and scratch free almost.

Um, I may actually order Feena when she comes out, that is a figure I like and am willing to shell out for. Guess you convinced me ^^.

Well, I bought a 2nd hand figure! That would be my RAH DX Meer Campbell w/c I bought for 1,000 pesos (Dirt cheap, I must say, 1000 pesos is equal to 2,435.89 JPY)

I don't know if it's considered 2nd hand but, I also bought an MG Strike Freedom w/c the owner had for ages, he said it was one of his backlogs and didn't have the time to build it. It cost me around 2000 pesos which is equivalent to 4,880.91 JPY. It's rather cheap considering that he bought the kit here in the Philippines.

Danny, If figure.fm is going to collect posts on otaku.fm under the fugre tab, does that mean that those of us who want to have our stuff posted to figure.fm need to change our blog category to figures?
I'm currently on otaku because figures aren't the only thing I write about but there was no way to tag individual posts...

I never buy second-hand figures, but I guess because never have the chance. But I buy figures with boxes a little broken or hit sometimes.

OMG I WANT!!! Makoto, and Tsuruya...and that Max Factory Haruhi.... but the MF Mikuru's face looks a little pudgier than usual. And I want the Frog Mikuru too...

I would buy secondhand in order to acquire figures from my list that i deemed "nearly impossible to find for a reasonable price new". For example there is an Alter figure of Louise from Zero no Tsukaima. Shes sitting on a ladder, and after reading dannys article about her i new i had to have her! But i can't find it for less than 100$ anywhere. In this situation i would buy secondhand. I would love a way to trade/sell figures with the members of this community. I feel everyone here is the honest and intelligent enough to see how a situation like that could benefit everyone. Being new to this hobby, you could imagine the frustration of seeing all these beautiful figures that have been made over the last few years, and realizing they may require months of patience to track down.

As always is great to see your new goods Danny! I bet you almost forgot whats its like to wait for these figures and pay for them like a normal person eh? Ahhhhhh you are very blessed my friend. I'll trade you some of my musical ability for some of your connections within the figure industry! ^_^

Fortunately I haven't had to much, but there are some things I'd like that I'd pick up 2nd hand if necessary. Although with over 200 figures (and over 25 on preorder), I think "I" should be the one selling stuff 2nd hand.

You know for some "unknown" reason , Dannychooo.com is blocked when I'm at work. This makes me angry as I'd be much more active on the site if it were not so... but I digress.

Aside from taking pictures to post what new figures I have received on my blog, I haven't taken pictures of any figures since DC Locked Figure.fm down. I for one and excited about this and can't wait to take & post pictures of my backlog of figures. I may be selling some soon as I am running out of room so the trade section will be put to good use.

Figure.fm sounds nice Danny as well as, trading figures. I have traded figures in the past with people I trust and I keep the Japanese Models and Figures stream in NetNewWire now. It will be nice to have things combined and a few less RSS feeds to read.

Hmm...so that explains the extra fix light in the night sky. You have your own hibernation ship in orbit about the moon. All though Danny clones and figures in stasis just in case. I have been reading too much classic Science Fiction lately... ^^;

So, the lighting for these shots is coming from the two lamps on the table, right? Did you get those at Ikea? It very natural light. I'm also assuming you didn't color balance in Photoshop or Aperture.

No, I hardly go anywhere to take good figure photos, so I don't carry any with me. However that would change...

I have bought many secondhand figures in the past. Most have been in mint (figure only) condition. I see no problem with it, especially when the figure is hard to com by in the first place.

I've never bought anything that's second hand unless I really needed them. When I buy something I always want it to be in perfect condition and if it's going to be second hand then I'd choose those that are in really great condition but usually those types are just a few bucks lower than if you bought it brand new so I tend to buy the brand new ones instead. :D

I just got my Mikuru too and she looks really lovely. The box got damaged here and there though <_<.
As for second hand figures, I have never bought them but will consider doing so if the figure is no longer in production and out of stock at stores. I prefer to get my figures new. Who knows what the previous owner might have done to them - condensed milk anyone? ^^

I have a Mikuru Figma and i need to complete my figma collection XD well thats not happening until the next anime convention >__<

when is comes to buying second hand figurines i would totally buy them, only if i knew what condition it was in and it was backed up with pictures of the product so i know what I'm buying.
