Late hijack of Dann's new custom made figure display cabinet - Me likes! Like the lights above the figures but don't they affect the coloring on the figures or is that only for UV rays form the sun? I have some lights above my figures but make sure they are facing away from the figures.
You can see some of my previous custom shelves which were made of acrylic.

Nice idea for a figure display below.

Original text from Dann below.

Yes, finally got this, it's completely custom made, if you haven't notice there is 1 line for 1/6's, 1 for 1//7's, 1 for 1/8's, 1 for figmas/frauleins and lastly 1 for gashapons and trading figures, there's also space for the boxes upwards and in the drawer below the figures, but most important, my figures are finally going to be safe from DUST, pets, restless greasy hands or any sort of potential danger, it's also important and was planned that way for it to be full already, that way I won't have to worry about getting more figures ^^; seriously need to stop.

I few more pics of my collection in the new cabinet here, here, here, this one turn out dark sry and Lightning here
The way I displayed them before here old picture lacking a lot of new ones though.

How do yo display your figures? are you worried about any sort of potential danger?

Quite impressive. When you say its custom made, what do you mean? That someone (or yourself) build it or that it was modified to make it work for your display needs?

And currently I don't display my figures because I don't have the space to do so. But I think your display is awesome ^^b

This sort of stuff is really cheap around here, I mean the labour and work force, to compensate the expensive figures ;) it was a little above of 500USD which I think was a deal, granted that in other countries will charge you an arm and leg for it.

Yeah I kind of wanted it a bit bigger but the deal is that that thing is 1.70cm long already and I have troubles finding a place for it as it is, also, architecture around here seem to include smaller rooms everyday so I don't want to have troubles in the future, what if I get a small place just for myself and so much stuff going on in my room is starting to freak me out so must learn self control ^^

I have a cabinet like that (but is is lot smaller and has no lights). The problem is that I have started my otaku collection after I've gotten the cabinet, so it was already full when my anime figures arrived. At the moment, the cabinet protects my Godzilla Collection, my Star Wars' stuff, some Pokémon I bought when I was younger and my dinosaur collection that I have since I was a child. And there is also two Asuka and two Rei of my Evangelion collection struggling with a Ceratosaurus for a little of space in the middle of everything. XD

The detolf is awesome, imo. For around $60 (at least when I got my last one) it has quite the space/volume and they're incredibly easy to put together. They're really sturdy, too. I had one of the panels standing up when I was putting my first one together and it fell into my window (luckily the window was stirdy too ^^;) and neither chipped or shattered. My one and only complaint is that the shelves are thin and sit on rails supported by small rubber rings and if you have small or unbalanced things on the shelves they tend to tip over a lot. I swear I have to pick up my L and Light Nendroids at least once a day.

Second the tipping. Figures on bases aren't a problem, but since I like to display them without a base (figmas of particular concern here) they tend to tip a lot. The pannels wobble a bit if you walk too close to the case - just a bit. They're sturdy enough, but not enough for a figure that will tip over when you blow on it.

By the way - you'll find that a huge percentage of us own Detolfs around here. It's because they're really one of the best solutions. ^^

Hmm... I'll have to take a look at it. From the dimensions, it's not very large and I have a LOT of figures. The shelf I have now looks like the NORREBO unit, but it's 2 units across and has 6 shelves.

Outstanding job! What did you use to finish it? And is it built into the wall or is it free? And as far as lighting Danny, I've had mine in a detolf or two from Ikea for almost 3 years now and I think that's just UV rays that fade them. I haven't noticed any fading at all, and I'm a fanatic about keeping things preserved. Though truth be known I use all LED lights, which aren't that strong at all, so...

That's a great display! Could you ask the maker to add like a mirror at the back to show all angles of the figures? :-) It'd be nice to appreciate all aspects of our hobbies. :-D

I would love to have such cabinet someday.... at the moment no kids at home so I'm happy with my current cabinet but I somehow dream to have this kind of cabinet with glass cover and I can locked them... the lightning is also nice to have...

More importantly.. the amount of figurines there is impressive - I envy him... hahahaha

Our hobby seems to be expensive.. now I realized that ^_^

    Lovely cabinet display Dann!

I need to gather my army of figures into a reasonable display config one of these days...

As for the lights, sunlight is generally the only hazard mentioned regarding light to PVC figures; I've never heard of interior (non UV) lighting worrying anyone, so I would think it's mostly safe, but I can't certain.

Not a worry at all if the lights are not permanently left on and are used for quick figure inspections, though.

Yay my cabinet got hijacked ^^ I guess I ought a picture with the lightning http://i300.photobucket.com/albums/nn30/Dann_055/DSC00125.jpg , which by the way Danny, don't know anything about, I just know that I'll freak out if someone leave it on for more than 3 or 4 mins, my figures should be safe if I use it to liking them in that lapse.

As for the picture, had to be done with the flash, too much bright and the figures below get much more lightning than it seems the flash is in contrast and the room was totally dark.

    aaaa that's exactly the sort of display case i need (to make)!! well, perhaps a bit deeper for space hogs like hayate, fate and exelica ^^;;

i've got 2 detolfs and the rest are on top of shelves or my desk ^^; detolfs were nice at first, but with my collection exploding they're proving to be pretty inefficient.

    though perhaps before building a mega shelf i'd want to make a dedicated display case for the alter strikers girls ^^;

    That's a splendid display cabinet.
    + not too deep
    + perfect heights
    - might still need some lighting

I just realized that mine's looks like a mess.
    http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3398/3279173662_7a9fa4b041_b.jpg
    - perhaps bit too deep
    - got only 3 glass plates. Bottom part is a bit useless at floor level.
    - not so many standing figures. too many small figures
    Sigh.

And nice collection there, I like particularly the Neko on the bed such a cute pose n face, grats awesome!

It's difficult to get light to penetrate to the lower level, I installed a Halogen lamp from Ikea at the top of my Detolf and noticed the light isn't bright enough for the lower level, got to go with the LED strip. As far as displaying my figures is concern, I still prefer to my 3M film sealing method posted at my website ;x Probably not as elegant as a glass cabinet though.

The film is barely noticeable and I usually don't need to dust my figures off. Link to here is a topic I made about keeping dust off my figure collection.

lol, is that a poseable death note doll? Depending on the bulb type and distance away figures can be discolored. It is not a problem if you just turn the light on for viewing; don't leave it on 24/7.

That is a very nice cabinet. I want something like that.

Ideally, I'd love to have something similar, but see through like a detolf. So you can see all sides. These shelves cover the sides and back.

But it is perfect where you put it because you fit in that corner making it very organized.
