CGM Image Server
At the moment, your avatars and all static images are being served from the Intel Mac Mini 2Ghz/2GB Memory in my rack in the office.
This arrived this morning - a second hand Mac mini that I got for about 70,000 yen - would have cost 120,000 yen for a new one. Tis 1.83Ghz/2GB Memory. It will serve all the CGM images - basically all the user created content.
Wasn't too sure whether a Mac Mini would be able to support such a high load but has been running well for over a day now. The site should load faster after setting up the CGM image server. Need to set up Apache Mod Proxy which will accept all requests to a single IP and redirect the request to another Mac Mini.
After that is done then there are still many tweaks to do on the database side to speed things up. The site had been loading fast on this end but thats because the image servers are running on my second Optic Fiber connection in the same region - wondering what the site load is like for you?
