Looks like more big name game makers releasing games for the iPhone/iPod Touch.
This time round its Namco who have released Time Crisis - currently available for download from the App store for 5.99 USD.

Video of the game in action below. Hmmmm. Not too sure about game play though. Looks like you tap to shoot and tilt to reload. Wonder if throwing the iPod is the move for throwing grenades.

Wondering how many of you have an iPod Touch and do you buy apps for it? I got a few apps so far. An e-book for Benjamin Button and a clock app which just shows the time - you ca see it in the last Week in Tokyo article.
iPod Touch/iPhone version of dannychoo.com to be released later on this year. Currently concentrating on streamlining mysql queries. The next project after that is enable you to send messages to each other.

I think Time Crisis 2 and 3 were the better ones... 1 is quite dated and 4 was just poo IMO.

I prefer house of the dead over any other light-gun games. :D

I played Time Crisis 2 on the arcade the most, and remember wasting a lot of coins, in my youth. I didn't get to finish 3 though. 3 was very good and the stages felt longer than all other installments. Crisis Zone was really fun seeing that the environment was very destructible (they need to make a follow-up to this game with environmental damage). 4 was disappointing and very short.

House of the Dead 4 was really good, beating out Time Crisis 4 but I love the older TC more than HotD series because TC has a cool pedal cover system that most light gun games don't.

Tapping to shoot makes the game too easy but I guess using fingers would make the game a little harder since you may have chubby fingers and chubby fingers block part of the screen every time you go in for a shot.

That's just lame. I wouldn't want a game where you tap the screen to shoot; that's too easy. There would have to be a lot of enemies for that to work.

There are a few Japanese developed games on the iPhone now, but most of them are pretty poor. Particularly bad is I Love Katamari, which is incredibly simplified and has awful visuals and a spluttering frame rate.

I did pick one up recently though which is better. It's a port of a PS2 on rails shooter called ExZeus, and although it's insanely difficult is pretty well put together. And it runs at 30fps.

if i had an iPhone i would probably consider buying this, altho it does need the bright day-glow orange gun, I guess it would be a bt easier to play just moving your finger around. It doesn't look graphically too bad considering its running on a phone. However i like the ability to send mms msgs too much to get an iPhone. ^_^

Just got myself a 32GB iPod Touch recently and am loving it..
I do download apps for it but all of them are free ones though. I haven't gotten any paid apps for it yet.

Somehow tapping to shoot doesn't feel Time Crisis-ish ^^

Even now in some corners of this country the arcade of TimeCrisis is the "newest" game that can be played... what a shame...

I think it is very well made, but I still rather play the arcade versions if given the choice.

Almost forgot to answer your questions. I atm do not have a iPod Touch or iPhone, but my younger brother does and I download tons of apps, mainly free ones, for his and in preparation for when I get mine. Choo-sama you say your making a Dannychoo.com app, I was wondering if you were going to have it also available on the US iTunes Store or if we would have to get a Japanese iTunes card to purchase/download it? Any information would be much appreciated.
