A Week in Tokyo 9

The latest installment of A Week in Tokyo.
We start off with a shot from the middle of a train crossing - load of them in Japan but never saw a single one in London. One could be waiting ages to cross depending on how many trains going back n forth.

On the way to the Good Smile office again - was going to do the Max Factory tour today but in a "week in tokyo" slot. Tour upload will tomorrow.

Sushi dinner over meeting. This is what I usually order.
Up until recently, I usually ordered everything without wasabi and then watched a TV program on how good wasabi is for the body - now I always take my sushi (or sashimi) with wasabi ^^; While I don't particularly like the taste, its grown on me somewhat.
Do you order your sushi/sashimi with or without wasabi?

Folks living in Japan should subscribe to the Mc Donalds mobile newsletter - it contains coupons like this which get you a few hundred yen off each meal. When you are at Mc D's next, scan the QR code on the tray leaflet for the signup form.

I think I talked this before but cant remember ^^; Caught the "always-hunting-for-wifi" disease since I got the iPod Touch...

Blue skies in Shibuya. Shibuya is only a few stops from where I live so I spend a lot of my time there consulting, shopping and dancing.

The bad thing about Japanese food menus is that all the food looks so nice that its difficult to make a quick decision on food. At times I would ask the waitress to decide for me and say "anything apart from liver, intestines or camel poo."

Bicycles illegally parked get a free warning sticker the first few times. Repeating offenders will find that their bike gets taken away by the governing body. A fee of about 3,000 yen is needed to get the bike back.
Most people register their bikes when they buy one and stick an ID sticker on the frame - thats how they know the bike belongs to you - they dont come after you and just send you a postcard. If you decide not to pick the bike up, they recycle or dispose of it.

More servers at home mean more hubs needed - picked up a nice mini hub today after lunch. Is you using wireless or wired at home?

Hmmmm. If only I had manga like this to use while I was a young chap learning Japanese - comes with furigana on the Kanji too.
Cum to think of it, this manga is a coloring book, Japanese learning aid and dolphin waxing aid too - all for only 390 yen.

[NSFW] - sorry, couldn't be bothered to Mirai-mark this.
Tis the new up n cumming game by Toshihide Sano - trailer below.

Tis the season to be jolly - hayfever season to be precise. This years pollen levels are three times more than last year. While most people go about wearing these in public, I chose to wear a Respro mask instead. I get odd looks for some reason.

Walking about in Kitasenju after karting. I remember looking for a house in this neck of the woods. Prices were cheap but its too far from central Tokyo.
If you are interested in reading about life in Japan, seeing photos taken daily around Tokyo, like Japanese subculture (anime, manga, figures, Dollfies) then you may want to start delving into the Japan or Figure categories for a start or have a gander at all photo articles.
If you don't have much time now, maybe subscribe to the RSS Feed, Twitter Feed or join the other readers in the FaceBook Page.
Alternatively, you may want to read more about the site.
If you are a regular reader then this message will probably annoy you each time - hide it forever.

haha...offsetting the single 100% vote for liking wasabi with my vote for not liking it
However, I used to not like eating my sushi with ginger. Now I do. Not only good for you, but I've learned to like the taste of it.
And oh my god that curry gyuudon looks excellent. Two of my favorite foods combined.

Danny, you seem to like shijimi / clams / pipees quite a bit? That's twice you had with miso soup in this post.
Currently have a wireless setup at home. Although both my PC and Mac are wired and only use the wireless for the second computer, Wii and PS3. That Buffalo mini hub is tiny!

Haha Danny, before I realize that it is "week" in Tokyo I always go thinking "how damn much does he eat every day?!". ^^,
And I always forget it until next Tokyo week, and think it again when I see all the food. ('~')

You sure ask a lot of questions in your entries. ;)
I personaly like wasabi, it's not my love but it goes well with sushi imo.
I love japanese food in general EXCEPT seafruit(?) like squid... *shiver* to much legs... arms... whatever! I stick with normal fish. ;)
At home i use W-Lan only for my mobile devices (laptop, phone, iPod etc. pp.), my Desktop-PCs and my File/Dev Server are on good ol' RJ45, the ones with a little cover over their clip flag release thing.
Right now i got two file servers running with 1TB of storage each, considering to go for a NAS but those are hard to get with more then 2 HDDs support as it seems, least i didn't find one and it seems cheaper to just buy a 19" rack and put servers with low power specs in it.
Maybe more work but in the end you get a RAID system with more storage and about same power usage.
My room is so not a girls room... you wouldn't know if i had not some plushies spread, and tons of other cute things lol... :/ Tech stuff and cute stuff keep the balance on 50/50 though.
Maybe it's really time to go for some cute figures now. o_O

As for wasabi, I put it on my sushi just because it's good for my body. I like spicy in general but still cannot like spiciness of wasabi.

Gah, most enviable week as ever Danny. Great food, great figures, manga and gadgets everywhere...Really, I'd eat anything from those pictures, besides the clams 'n stuff (I have allergies).

Always loved eating sushi/sashimi, however could never grow to like the taste of wasabi. Tried forcing myself to get adapted to it but it just doesn't work. However if the amount of wasabi they put is very very little, I wouldn't mind.
As for home internet network, I have to use wireless as the main connection point is far away in my parent's room and routing a line doesn't seem practical. Would prefer being wired as it's alot more reliable.
After seeing all the photos of the food, it is making me hungry!! Must...control.... *goes to make a sandwich*

I think the best part about wasabi at a sushi places here is that one of my friends invariably always seems to take a dare to eat their whole wad of wasabi at once with nothing else.

So I've heard that the wasabi here in the US (I'm from NY) Is just horseradish. And I've heard in Japan they use real wasabi. So whats it taste like compared to the US stuff?

I really like wasabi with my sushi. In fact, when ever I go out to eat sushi I alway need to ask for extra wasabi and even then it not alway enought for me. XD
We're still using wired connection at my home, in over all, it better since there's less interference for the signal, but ever since I got my DS, I wish we had a wireless rooter. ^^;

I usually mix wasabi with soy sauce whenever I go eat sushi and don't mind sushis with wasabi already on it.
There are few shopping complexes around my area but they seem to be declining with recession and sub-prime disaster here in USA. I don't really shop at malls anymore, just go around Bookoffs and Kinokuniya mostly.

Use to take just a bit of wasabi, but now I eat it as a thick paste. It does grow on you & ur tolerance increase bigtime.

1. Wasabi is good. Waaaaasaaaabi (please dont start that crap people). Lol
2. Wireless for my laptop, wired for my desktop.
3. Lists, because if you can get to a third item, more people will read it.
4. Not so many train tracks here... in Tempe though..
5. Love sushi, keep it on the coffee table where we eat when its casual dining (we sit on cushons on the floor). I usually have a gunpla nearby, if not on the table (its helps relax me after work to mess with them). Of course, theres the ubiquitous laptop (its a good word, look it up).
