Why Japan

I wrote about the reasons why I chose Japan previously in the Learning Japanese article a while back. It all started with my interests in Japanese console games - then Japanese idols.
If theres one thing that really gets on my nut about Japanese society, that would be the absence of non-smoking sections in restaurants - the passive smoking does wonders for my asthma and just about everybody here seems to smoke.
But the things I enjoy about Japan obviously far outweigh the smoking thing. I particularly admire...
- The otaku subculture (anime, cosplay, figures, gundam etc etc)
- Diligent and honest (in most cases) Japanese mentality when it comes to work or performing tasks
- Relatively safe
- A load of business opportunities which generate connections, clients, friends, da monies and of course SAFS
- Organized public facilities
- And a load of other things which I take for granted

Took the photos in Akihabara last weekend - was thinking to myself at the time "this is one of the reasons why I enjoy Japan..."
What are your reasons for liking (or disliking) Japan?
