Have always thought that these delivery bikes look cool but it seems that common folk don't really use them for daily commuting - have only seen them with some sort of restaurant logo on them.
Do they have these in your neck of the woods?

in Penang, there is motorbikes everywhere
on the road, on the pavement, in the mall, in the shop, on pedestrian bridge
    and they go everywhere,
one-way street, 2 way street, no way street
and they turn as they like no signals no brake lights

so yes, there is alot of motorbikes here
scooter, honda cubs, tricycle, c70, ex5, rgv, ss2, ninja, zzr

    they rule the streets
be you on foot or in the car, you better watch out for them, they always have the right of way as well as the simpathy of on-lookers if you were to accidentally touch them..

in my country (the Netherlands) these "scooters" as we call them are popular with the youth between 16 and 18 (you are allowed to drive one of these when you're 16, and when you turn 18 you are allowed to get your driver's license).

Over here these bikes mainly drive on bicycle paths and are legally and mechanically limited to a top speed of about 40km/h. There are some people however who can remove the limitations making the bike go faster (which is illegal obviously, and getting caught can get your ride confiscated).

They also look a bit different over here. They usually don't have a wind shield and not a construction that looks like a roll-cage :/ :P the rest all looks the same basically.

When I did an exchange to a Japanese university, everyone commuted either on regular pushbikes, or those motorized scooters. It seems it's popular among university students since it's expensive to get a car licence and this is a cheaper alternative. However, that was in a more remote location.

I guess, in Tokyo, the trains are sufficient enough to get you where you want to go.

Scooters of the Vespa (http://www.vespausa.com/) variety are not very popular but they are getting more and more common here in Ohio. Last summer the gas prices here abouts skyrocketed and you saw a lot of them. Dealers had waiting lists for them as people saw their practicality for intown runabaout use.

Most Pizza delivery people around here are expected to furnish their own vehicle. Which is an old beater car more often than not.

I've actually never seen any restaurant or fast food joint deliver with scooters. They usually have the hired kids drive their own cars over for the job and its usually a crappy family car. Its not like scooters or motorcycles are rare but there are many more cars on the roads. I don't believe restaurants or fast food places are willing to retrofit a scooter specially for delivery jobs either. I think it looks cool and adds to the company's image if they did do that here though.

They are very common all over Mexico. I guess it's easier to get through traffic in one of these. especially if your company motto is "We'll be there in 30 minutes or it's free!" Which really isn't, the driver has to pay "cost" for it if he/she doesn't deliver the goods on time.

In America, at the Dominos they just fly banners on their personal cars which are used for making deliveries. Not too many motorbikes out here. Far too many large trucks and SUVs for that to be a very safe choice.

Yea, usually personal autos with a flag/banner thing hanging from a window or something. There is also types of magnetsl like some flat sign that sticks on the doors, or a neon pop up kind of thing that sticks on the top.

There are also. Some companies that use like a sticker/painted up vehicle such as a van. Never seen aa bike though

Usually use it for patrolling the local market / downtown area. When it comes to deliveries from restaurants, the driver has to provide their own transportation. And they usually put some sort of sign on their care when they are making their runs.

Those started selling well in my town when gas got around $4 a gallon. Similar to those minus the roof, windshield, and pizza holder. Although they are only out during the summer since they don't work well in snow.

You used to see them all over campus at MSU because they were cheap and could be locked at the bike racks. Not so much now that CATA is running the buses, so they run pretty much on time and everywhere.

Those are cool. I got to see a few of them in Japan. First time I saw them was in the megatokyo webcomic.

I have never seen a scooter in use in Toronto. I read in the paper that a shop started importing Vespas in low quantities a few years ago, but they're still very rare and if there were any of them around they'd be in the city core, far from where I live and go to school.

Even motorcycles aren't all that common here. They become quite useless during a Canadian winter, and that's at least half the year.

I don't see this kind of Pizza Hut delivery bike here in Malaysia. They are just normal bike with an add on on their back.

I used to work at a pizza place, two actually. My second job did involve running deliveries, and I had to use my own car since I don't know how to drive standard yet... One of those bikes would be most excellent if I had it to run pizzas!
