A week in Tokyo 7 title=

Not so many external meetings for the past week and have been frantically working on the next major changes to dannychoo.com which I aim to release this week if all goes well.

Pic of the recently acquired bicycle parked on a cold n crisp morning on the way to get some Mc Donalds breakfast.

A week in Tokyo 7 title=

Never have been able to ride a bicycle for most of my life until I tried out my wifes new mini bicycle. I found I could actually ride it and then decided to get my own....hmmmm. I'm having a wave of Deja Vu - have I talked about this before? I forget so will continue anyway ^^;

The bicycle cost about 20,000 yen. Is light weight (about 3 Kg) and can fold up small enough to fit in my trouser pocket. Cone to think of it - thats lighter than my MacBook Pro ^^;

An ad for one of those stamina drinks aimed at the salary man. I hear that drinking too many of these is bad for you.

A week in Tokyo 7 title=

Mc Donalds has these video chat terminals where you can chat to people who are at other Mc Donalds - never seen anybody using these.

A week in Tokyo 7 title=

Fancy a nurse, maid, cheerleader or sailor fuku costumes for cheap? If so then give this UFO catcher a whirl.

The yummy Miho Tanaka [田中美保] - video of her below.

Meeting lunch in Shibuya - some Thai food.

A week in Tokyo 7 title=

Picking up some side dishes. Side dishes are called "Okazu" [おかず] but Okazu is also the term used for "material-that-one-looks-at-while-dolphin-waxing."

A week in Tokyo 7 title=

4 side dishes for 630 yen.

A week in Tokyo 7 title=

Nothing better than a walk on a cold n crisp sunny morning listening to the birds chirp.

A week in Tokyo 7 title=

On the move by car. This road was blocked of yesterday for the Tokyo Marathon.

A week in Tokyo 7 title=

Sorting out through a load of mags to get rid of and bring to Book Off. Mostly Pasokon Paradise, BugBug, Dengeki Hime, Megami Magazine, NewType, some doujinshi and previous brochures from Wonfes etc.

I generally try to get rid of mags and keep if most of the mag has info that I want to refer to later of if its full of nice 2D girls - some of the Dengeki Hime and Megami issues are hit n miss. If there only a few pages then I will rip them out, scan or photo them and keep electronically to save space.

Been round to some comrades houses where I would see issues of mags (stacks of them) which are over ten years old ^^; What do you do with your old mags? Do you keep them in sight, stock them out of sight or trash/give them away?

A week in Tokyo 7 title=

Folks on the way to work in the morning.

A week in Tokyo 7 title=

Sunny Shibuya - bus terminal exit. Amazon offices is the tall building on the left of the pic.

Folks lining up for lunch at a Chinese restaurant.

This weeks room.

A week in Tokyo 7 title=

Currently going through rehabilitation for my back - this is my rehab plan. Why cant the illustration style look like this instead ^^;

A week in Tokyo 7 title=

Some Kaisen Yakisoba over dinner meeting.

A week in Tokyo 7 title=

Devil May Cry 4 is utterly awesome. I do try to get in at least one stage per day. A new weapon called the Death Bringer makes DMC 4 so much more enjoyable. Use the Death Bringer to hurl yourself across the screen, grab enemies and smash them into the floor or fling them around the screen ^^;
See some of the gameplay footage below where you can see the Death Bringer in action.

A week in Tokyo 7 title=

Old rubbing along with the new.

A week in Tokyo 7 title=

Many small shopping streets are closed off in the afternoons for folks to do their grocery shopping. This road is closed off from 3 to 7pm.

A week in Tokyo 7 title=

Love the way folks like up their bicycles neatly in the middle.

A week in Tokyo 7 title=

Construction on a new shop.

A week in Tokyo 7 title=

Grabbing some vegetables n fruits.

A week in Tokyo 7 title=

The phone number has only 7 digits meaning that this shop has been here since the dawn of civilization.

A week in Tokyo 7 title=

Grabbing some meat for dinner.

A week in Tokyo 7 title=

Indoor local market selling all sorts of groceries.

A week in Tokyo 7 title=

More meetings in Shibuya.

A week in Tokyo 7 title=

Burger lunch just after getting the iPod Touch.

A week in Tokyo 7 title=

Is Tokyo the only city where mags full of cute girls are handed out for free?

A week in Tokyo 7 title=

Some curry for dinner - thanks to member Windbell for brining over the curry packs from Singapore ^^;

    You must have some adventures over at Tokyo, Danny!

    I have really old videogames magazines from like 2004/2005. I was looking through them and found one that mentioned the Wii for the first time!

    Great pictures by the way, and now I'm hungry...

    I tried to keep all of my magazines, since I'll probably need them for cut outs for some of my projects. If I'm starting to run out of space, then I'll sort them and throw away the not-so interesting ones ^^;

    I heard it's true that Japan is one of the most money-spent country to go to for holiday...is it? ^^;

    Heard it from my cousin who's been there before.

    We just take mags for recycling when they start to stack, no biggie. No wonder that TiaraGirl mag is free; it's from Dec'07!

    Never tried those ginsing stamina drinks, but I do down a Tab energy drink now and then to wake me up. Guy on the poster looks like he's had one too many.

    That bacon burger looks okay, but they sure to skimp on fries there. What's that like 10 sticks?

    I don't get enough magazines to worry about space consumption. I only get Newtype and Game Informer for the most part, I pick out a Robot Magazine randomly every season as well. If these topics were more mainstream and had a greater following than they do here in the states then I may consider getting rid of a few old mags, after I carefully extract vital "information" from them worth saving, that is. I think the only magazine I have ever done that with is the codebook magazine, or something like that, I cut out its armored core III section which contained AC designs and tourney info. I still use it from time to time on AC4 and, aside from some of the vastly different parts, it has been rather useful.
    I think I would be overwhelmed by the amount of magazines available in Japan for just about any subject...

    Nice bike you have there, though I don't really like foldable bikes. Always thinking one day while riding it, it'll just "fold" up and clamp areas which is so precious to you lol.

    Have you tried one of those stamina drinks? I wonder how it taste. Had missed the opportunity the last time, maybe on the next I'll give it a go.

    As for magazines, my collection still isn't much. my MEGAMI only dates back to Dec 2003 and Dengeki Hime dates back to Nov 2007 (I blame your post on the magazine ^^). Am still keeping them all, and no intention to sell/give them away.

    Hooray for back problems. I'm off to the chiropractor tomorrow after taking a full 40-50kg in the upper neck. Probably serves me right for putting someone on my shoulders during a concert and annoying the folks behind... it was, however her fault for overbalancing forward. No where near as serious as a slipped disk however.

    As for mags: I keep them all, but not all out on the shelf. Usually keep about 12 months worth of EVO, Per Sempre Alfa and Classic and Sports Car out. 6 months worth of BPN and infolink (both free architectural mags) and all copies of Sanctuary (as it only comes out twice a year).

    I usually keep mags if I got lots of them like the N-Zone (Nintendo Mag) and I throw out mags which I bought only once, works best for me.

    Holly Cow! It the apocalypse and all the people of Tokyo are gone! ^^; There really is times when you see no people out and about in Tokyo? Sunday Mornings must be really tranquil.

    Darn it Danny, I always get hungry when I read this series! ^o^

    I'm feeling Deja Vu as well. ^^ Wait, I think Roy (http://blog.q-taro.com/) own a bike like this one... I need to get bikes for myself and Yukari. It has been so long since I had a bike.

    The closed street with all the shops looks great! Lots of nice photo opportunities and just a pleasant shopping experience. I can't wait to be living in Japan! Day to day activities can be so much more enjoyable. It will make me so happy to not need to drive everywhere.

    Everything is lighter than a MacBook Pro... ^^; Just joking... Soon you will be able to get yourself a MacBook Air.

    I do almost the same with my mags. Take out what I want and scan the pages. I could use a new scanner. Most Japanese mags are larger format, how do you scan yours Danny? Maybe in sections and then stitch together in Acrobat or such. When I'm done I usually just trash what remains. No recycling mags here like in Florida.

    Hope rehab is going well...

    What's up Danny? Since you are on the subject. How do you keep your magazines? For me, I rip the page of the ads and articles from the magazine that I want to keep. This way I don't have to keep the whole magazine. When I have time, I will scan all the pages into the hard drive. I always try to find the picture that I see in the magazine on the web. The reason is the digital pictures always look better than the scan pictures. Do you agree?

    What's the usual format for phone numbers nowadays anyway? Around here our phone numbers are 7digits long.

    I love DMC4. Nero really brings quite a few good changes to the series...although I do miss playing around with Dante more. But recently I've been stuck playing CoD4's multiplayer. heheh

    Q: "Is Tokyo the only city where mags full of cute girls are handed out for free?"

    A: Quite possibly the only place on Earth, yes.

    LOL, you must remember being in UK, you'd have to have a sneaky peak at the top shelf if you wanted to look at any 'harmless' Idols. I need to get to Japan ;-)

    Hi Danny, hi everyone !

    About those foldable bikes, are they really easier to ride than usual bikes ? My girlfriend cannot ride bikes and I would like to teach her.
    Everytime we go cycling, we need a double bike... It is nice but I'd like to have a proper single bike: more freedom of movement.

    Any advise to teach how to cycle ?

    The poster with the guy and the energy drink made me laugh. It's really like he's ready to rise and shine even if he has a "just woke up" haircut.

    Why don't you keep those mags and sell them individually to us members? $_$

    Finally, hope your back will get even better soon.

    I usually keep my magazines in a box piled at the foot of my bed. Unfortunately, I don't think I'll be able to bring them all with me overseas. That might be the only reason to have homesickness while I am away. xD
