First up I would like to apologize for the continued outages of the server. Never had so many new unique users join us within such a short period. Its not only the server setup and configurations, but the legacy code base is huge and taking a while to optimize. Currently planning on migrating over to Amazon EC2 next week - at the latest the week after so please bear with me a wee bit longer.

Would like to say thanks to the folks who have continued to come back for more and in particular folks who are active in the puchi blurbs, commenting and posting news items - despite the slow server responses.
As a token of my thanks, I secured a lovely Mabinogi by Orchid Seed for you who's due out in April. Cant wait to get mine too!

The first round question - where is Kagami?
The photo contains all the information that you need but here is a clue:-
"Niwatori"

Rules:-
- Please answer in romaji and if possible back up your answer with the kanji for this place too.
- *Must* be specific.
- Participants are registered for more than 1 month.
- Participants regularly comment and not just lurk.
- Deadline is this time tomorrow-ish.
- You got one attempt.
- Arms installation is complete. Good Luck.

This giveaway is brought to you by the good folks at HobbyLink Japan.

If you are interested in reading about life in Japan, seeing photos taken daily around Tokyo, like Japanese subculture (anime, manga, figures, Dollfies) then you may want to start delving into the Japan or Figure categories for a start or have a gander at all photo articles.

If you don't have much time now, maybe subscribe to the RSS Feed, Twitter Feed or join the other readers in the FaceBook Page.
Alternatively, you may want to read more about the site.
If you are a regular reader then this message will probably annoy you each time - hide it forever.

This item was posted in the Otaku category. You can see more of everything else or subscribe via RSS instead.

Seems to me like the best answer is Ōwakudani, Hakone. The kanji being 大涌谷. Mainly because I don't know Japan very well (yet), googling niwatori didn't help a whole lot, and many people answered this already. xD

Will, try to be as precise as possible, since Danny has a penchant for tricky question ^^

Kagami is inside the picture above, in the picture she was seated on top of a tree stump/stone, the location where the picture was taken, (hence where kagami was) is at Owakudani (大涌谷) - Hakone (箱根町) in Kanagawa-ken (神奈川県).

As where she is RIGHT NOW, I have no idea.. XD

Owakudani, hakone where are greated with the strong smell of fart, but is sulfur. often find yourself feeling relaxed to let one go in that atmosphere =) no one would notice. Ropeway via Owakudani from Goro is the best and most scenic way to get to Lake Ashi where you would normally go on a pirate ship!

Well, just like everyone, I think this is Ōwakudani valley, 大涌谷, also known as the "Great Boiling Valley". It is situated in Hakone, Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan. That name is due to the fact that there are sulphurous fumes that rises from rocks in that volcanic valley and another of the particular aspect about that valley is that there are black eggs to be eaten from the hot springs in the valley. Eating of of these black eggs, "Kuro-tamago" is said to be able to increase life longetivity: by eating one, your life increases by 7 years and if you eat 2, it increases by 14 years but eating a third one is not recommended. Kagami is probably situated between the final destination of the aerial tram and the site where eggs are boiled, which is in the 1 kilometer trail that people can hike(most tourists hike that ^^). She is also on a top of random tree stump and sitting there, outside of the trail where people should be walking (bad girl, kagami :D)! Hope that was "specific" enough! Also hope that I have a chance to win this as I really love that Nao figure :P.

I'm guessing Ōwakudani (romaji, 大涌谷) roughly translates to Great Boiling Valley. Located in the city of Hakone (箱根町) in the Kanagawa Prefecture (神奈川県) of Japan. It's a popular tourist site with lots of scenery and volcanic activity. The Mabinogi figure is an absolutely beautiful figure; I wished I checked this earlier seeing that I live in the Eastern coast of the US and it's a 14 hour difference from Japan and the Eastern US.

    I probably count as a lurker here. The reason I dont post more is due to time difference. Being in the UK I often first see posts when they have over 100 comments & I cant think that I have much to add. This post being a case in point ^^;

Mount Hakone in Owakudani. I know this is taken near the Hakone Ropeway from Sounzan or Togendai.

    Is it?

Ok. I didn't want to answer until I actually made some ACTUAL investigative work (considering the majority of the answers here, I still feel like I cheated)... Even if my answer is late.

The National Park Hakone, in Owakudani...?
