Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles does much more than fill the gap in the absence of Heroes and Prison Break.

EP 3 aired earlier this week and the story has been entertaining so far. Its set in a time after "Terminator 2: Judgment Day." Sarah Connor and her son John are living while trying to keep a low profile until one day two Terminators show up. One is some ugly Ter-man-nator out to kill John and the other is cute ter-woman-nator sent to protect John.

The TV series has plenty of eye candy and the special effects are in line with what you saw in the movies. The menacing Terminator music is there too which adds to the atmosphere.
If you are suffering from Heroes and Prison Break withdrawal symptoms then give The Sarah Connor Chronicles a whirl - its rather good indeed.

I do hear/read that die hard Terminator fans are complaining about the actress chosen to do Sarah and also about the different timeline that the story is set in - would be interesting to hear your thoughts.

Just hope that the writers strike doesn't affect the story or schedule. What are they striking for anyway and when will it end?

Supposedly writers are striking for the cut from internet download of the movies/TV series they worked on. They say it's more complicated than that and soon, even movie productions will get effected if the strike doesn't end soon.

Not sure when the strike will end though. There's a possibility that they might not even have Academy Awards if strike continues, yikes.

This series has been great so far. Very interesting concepts, and the CG is epic. The actress is the same one that played the wife of King Leonidous (sp?) in 300. She does a great job, and John Conner isnt a whiney b!tch like in the 3rd movie. Which Im VERY okay with. All and all, I would say worth watching, and lets see where it takes us.

@Danny, My favorite scene is when the Ter-man-ator is Ripping apart the Vault Door piece by piece.. Thats so cool to watch with good special effects.

IIRC, they only managed to get eight episodes into the can before the writers strike. Unless they managed to make a fairly contained eight episode arc, I think we are all going to be miffed in five more weeks.

As for the strike itself, the Wikipedia page has a great overview:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2007%E2%80%932008_Writers_Guild_of_America_strike

To briefly summarize, the current contract between the writers union and the studios was up for renewal. Both sides couldn't come to terms over residuals for DVDs, internet downloads, and other "new media".

I guess no Arnold in this series, the Ter-woman-nator looks cute though ^^
Oh btw, Prison Break already back on air, right now is in S03E10.
Yeah, I also need my dose of Heroes really bad. I hope they end the writer's strike soon.

    Too bad I don't watch TV anymore (I'm into anime-mode only). I would do it with joy otherwise. ^^;

Sarah Connor Chronicles is definitely worth a watch. I've never been a huge fan of the Terminator series (watching the Governor of California act like a robot makes me break out in hives) but I've been watching the show so far and plan on keeping up with it.

The issues at stake in the writer's strike are, in fact, pretty complex. But there are two main sticking points. 1) writers are currently only receiving 4 cents for DVD sales and 2) studios refuse to pay any money whatsoever to writers for electronic content. The producers argue that electronic content is for "promotional purposes" only and say they aren't making any money on it. Which is a ridiculous argument since most internet repeats of shows are ad based, and with the recent updates to Apple TV, they'll probably be making a great deal of money off of digital downloads very soon.

Luckily for all us TV viewers, the end is in sight. Up until recently, the producers refused to even talk to the writer's guild unless they agreed not to even mention internet residuals in their talks. However, the director's guild recently made an agreement with the producers that included a deal on digital rights and now the producers have said that they will talk to the writers about it.

The producers were basically trying to freeze out the writers, but the screen actors guild is going to enter contract negotiations very soon and the producers know that if they don't make a deal with the writers, the actors will go on strike too.

Anyway, I apologize for the obscenely long post, but I work for a labor union and I've been following the strike closely. Check out www.unitedhollywood.com for the writers side of the story and some great little clips that have been written and produced by the writers themselves.

Ah man Danny you beat me to it! I was going to post a review, oh well.
There are 2 big issues with this series:
    1) There are some fundamental flaws in the story, such as the terminators shattered body coming through the time jump with Sarah and co as it was clear in the films that only organic matter could pass through the time portals? Other issues like wouldn't there be 2 John Connors in 2007, if he was presumed dead from the time jump wouldn't they be jumping into an era already controlled by machines, and there are other writer goofs which I have forgotten.
    2) The actor playing Sarah Connor is pretty bad, she needs more shorter lines and more toughness about her. There are some instances when she sounds just like the old Sarah, but otherwise her long narratives are well off the mark.

Its a pretty good series but you need to discard all your previous ideas about terminators to be able to feel the intense atmosphere which is building up in the series.

    A nice filler between heroes/smallville/prison break :)

I've been watching this show since it first came out, and for a TV show its entertaining enough to keep me coming back each week. Sure, it has its plot holes, but most time travel stories have these shortcomings all the time. I really enjoyed the T1 and T2 movies, but T3 threw everything relevant to the story out the window. Perhaps that's why I'm lenient towards the show as the continuity is already flawed after T3, and the show is simply a good watch.

Was surprised though that it's running during the strike, and I do wonder when they'll run out of episodes. Which is probably why ppl aren't aware of this show as they are assuming no new shows are premiring during the strike. I hope it survives.

I will watch this religiously, in fact its the only show I will ever watch on TV, what will all the garbage on it.

@Dragun: Yes this actor is a much better one than Nick Stahl. As far as I'm concerned I HATE the 3rd movie.

@James: I agree with ya man, the 2nd movie was the best and as far as canon goes, the saga should've ended there. This series is an attempt to milk the intellectual property more.

@Sarg: The two John Connor thing error might be form the basis for an episode in the future. I could see that happening. I can't explain Cromartie's metal head passing thru the temporal displacement field though...clearly a plot hole/error.

@Radical Anime Fan: The fourth Terminator movie starring Christian Bale (aka the new Batman) as John Connor will focus on the Future War and the TechCom Resistance. Look forward to it in the near future.

sorry for long post...Die Hard Terminator and James Cameron fan here (he should get his ass back to land and be more involved in the whole Terminator revival)

anybody have play terminator : dawn of fate?

i've seen the ending, 1 human betray their side, and skynet in earth are destroyed.
after earth skynet is destroyed, the betrayer succeeded to send a terminator to past
kyle reese jumped to the portal to chase the terminator

john connor win the war, but there's still back up or satellite of skynet in the space, but how it look to me... all terminator in earth is destroyed, and the portal is blown, or guarded since connor win the war.

then how the hell, they send those terminator on 2nd and 3rd series? since kyle already destroy the 1st 1

and to me, the ending of dawn of fate is the best ending for terminator series

the writers strike.. what else more money.. but they want a cut of the money the studios are getting from internet sales like itunes.. which to my knowledge there geting nothing or close to it... same deal for the actor and director guilds to.. so be prepared for a strike there to ... hopefully not though... whole deal is that the studios don't want to share and there being shown the hard way (especially to us tv and movie fans) that they can't keep it all :D

I watched the pilot of this show about 8 months ago. At the time I thought it was total crap. But then last week my friend turned on the first episode, I watched reluctantly at first, but then I slow started to relize that this wasn't the same cut I had seen eariler.

My theory is that the powers that be saw the first pilot episode and sent it back to the editors and told them to fix the load of horse S#*$ or else! The message must have gotten through because the episodes on TV are way better then the crap I say 8 months ago.

It will probably get canceled after one season, thats what happens to good sci-fi shows. But I'll be watching for as long as it goes.

As for the actress playing Sarah, she just seems too young, oh, and hot! She dosn't look right trying to be the badass that Sarah Connor is. I'm sure she will grow on me.

The Terminator saga ends for meon the second film, the third movie sucks, and this don`t look very well

At first it sounded to me like over-milking of a popular franchise...but then I heard Summer Glau was in it and I went all obsessive fanboy. :P

I doubt she'll be as awesome as she was in Firefly/Serenity though.

that's what happens if you have a story involving time travels. Too many plot holes.

In order to really enjoy this, viewers should disregard T3 and treat this one as a separate timeline.

Just watch the 1st episodes, first 10 minutes, I though it was a bit corny, the rest was pretty good (found myself enjoy bioni woman more though). I just hope the series won't end up being 'humans teaching human values to robots'

I liked T3 though it did veer off a bit from the first two movies.

I thought Terminator TV show was great fun too. Definitely good fill-in for Heroes.
