The problem with Dollfie's is that you cant carry em around like Figma's...

If you are interested in reading about life in Japan, seeing photos taken daily around Tokyo, like Japanese subculture (anime, manga, figures, Dollfies) then you may want to start delving into the Japan or Figure categories for a start or have a gander at all photo articles.

Of course one can carry them around... it just makes one look rather odd...

well, more odd than carrying figma, anyway.

Especially if one is a non-crossdressing male otaku.

But that is another matter. (^ω^)

So although Dollfies can be uber cute, their eyes just look dead to me and would scare the bejeebus out of me if I lived with them.

I take my dollfies out with me. Fair enough you look odd carrying them around in your arms. What I do is I have a large bag that I use to take my dolls out, I put a couple of blankets or pillows inside to protect the doll, then put the doll in, zip it up and take it away.

Outdoor doll shoots may get you some odd glances from passers by, but they're great photo subjects and its a lot of fun to go out and about and get great photos in stunning scenery with such pretty dolls.

I still don't understand the attraction to these things. It is just like a giant barbie doll you can play dress up with. And then buying accessories and making clothing for it! Is the next step life size ones then? go out and buy 500$ pairs of jeans to put on em, and carry along to a hairstylist then? Call me old fashioned, but the whole thing seems very strange to me.

With all the things as they are it seems that there should be a few places the Dollfies could be taken given the carrying method didn't shake them apart. It seems now that you have to take Aoi-chan with you if you want to take Kagami anywhere since Aoi-chan has taken Kagami for herself now. Dollfies like Figmas too!

I can see one more thing now with the new doll collectors. If they are married, why mess with this they can have real babies and setup all types of cool things for years to come for the real one growing up. Don't waste your time and money that could have been used to make ones own babies life really great.

aw that's kind of rude to people who do like to have both. There are things that one cannot do with a real baby and vice versa. While real life is very important, I hope you understand that it's a hobby to have a doll/figures and people do enjoy collecting them much as you would have done spending on other things/hobbies.

I don't see why you would need an unlimited supply of over sized barbies. They pretty much all look the same anyway. Figmas at least are unique.

As many others have said, a carrying case is the way to go. Personally I wouldn't mind one of the Rozen Maiden ones...just in case I aquire one of the Super Dollfie versions one day...

Maybe I'm wierd, or have been living in Japan for too long, but if I saw a 30 year old guy taking pictures of a Dollfie Dream at Yoyogi park, I would think it was less wierd than him taking pictures of very small posable action figures (figma). To each there own of course.

actually danny, there's an easy way to do that though it's quite bulky :c

try buying a 3/4 or 4/4 sized violin case and take your dollfie (and your wife?) to tag along when you get one to see if she fits snugly. I mean, if you're not inclined to buy a special bag for them plus it's a cheaper alternative AND people wont suspect you bringing something around that will garner you weird stares...cause it's a violin~ with a dollfie surprise inside hehe :D

hope that helps and I'm looking forward to see what you can do with your dolls danny :D

OH OH OH btw, I have a suggestion you might want to try with aoi-chan (am I giving her the right name, the dollfie on your pic?) try getting her clothes like mirai's it'll be adorable (and cool even if mirai figma/nendo wont come out ;D )

    ciao~

Mostly girls in our Otaku community in Los Angeles carry around dolfie's. But they are rare to see, although people carrying around Figma's is really rare. I'm the only person who knows that carries around Figam's.

figmas are nice to carry around, but a dolfie or 2 around the house would be nice...actually if you put them in the car, you can probably use the carpool lane...

Mmk, so I just noticed something... I now want a dollfie. Now, here's what I noticed, I never wanted one before, but after seeing them for a bit on dc.com, I now want one. The interesting part of this, is that I never wanted figures before finding dc.com either, but after seeing them for a bit, I got completely into them. xD

Soo, I guess this will be an additional hobby. ^^

Yeah!~ It's such a drag to carry the dollfie since they are big in size. Figma will be a preferable choice here since it's small in size and easy to carry them around.
