The Switch 2

I have some fantabulous news - my wife has given into my Mac sales talk and accepted the truth - that the Dell that I mistakenly bought for her last year is a sack of steaming monkey shite.
I had it up to my eyeballs with maintaining that heap of shite of a Dell and my wife was fed up with the machines performance - especially that fan - it sounded like it was going to fly through the roof!
Below: Setting up my wife's iBook. First off, the disk needs to be formatted and partitioned - attach it to another Mac and boot up with the "T" key depressed - the machine will boot up in a state known as Target mode. When a machine is in Target mode, the machine acts like a portable hard drive - in this case, the iBook's hard drive is mounted onto the Power Book enabling me to partition the drive using Disk Utility.
The drive is partitioned so that the system and data can be on separate drives and have been doing this on Windows machines since the dawn of time.
Next is a *clean* installation of OSX leaving out Garage Band (over 2 gigs) and printer drivers (over 1GB!) and some other crap.
Below: An expensive "feel-good" doormat - Dell P4 2.55GHZ, 80GB, 512MB at 200,000 bloody yen (about 2000 USD). It "feels-good" when I come home to tread on the screen - the LCD makes lovely patterns depending on how you tread on it and the keyboard is useful for removing mud.
