Nissin would like to thank you for eating Cup Noodle since 1971 by giving you the chance to win your very own Cup Noodle Vending Machine.

The unit is a compact 35cm x 42cm x 28cm and you can see it in action in the video on this page.
Ideal for the hikikomori type.

If you are interested in reading about life in Japan, seeing photos taken daily around Tokyo, like Japanese subculture (anime, manga, figures, Dollfies) then you may want to start delving into the Japan or Figure categories for a start or have a gander at all photo articles.

Id really suggest sending him a Facebook message.
He says he reads them all, and usually replies, but it sometimes takes him a while to get to the longer ones, so keep it short.

My thoughts exactly. This is basically a cup noodle storage and water boiler; most houses have both things (either a heater or stove and cupboards ^^)

It does sound neat for public use though, but the one shown up there has the size for personal use only.

Agreed. If the machine actually opened the lid, automatically poured the water (just the right amount instead of you having to turn it off yourself), closed the lid, and started the timer on its own, then I can understand the use of it. Considering how most coffee vending machines do something similar, I'm sure something like that could be contrived for public use. However, given the size and few containers it holds, it seems like something for personal use; in which case, inserting the coin to use it seems completely pointless. =^_^=

Having eaten so many cups of noodles in my younger days, I have sort of grown wary of them, but I still believe that having a Cup Noodle vending machine would be an interesting item of discussion though looking at the actual noodle cooking process--it still seems as labor as my usual method of preparing cup noodles.

I think they could've made it so much better if they rolled the cup noodle container under the hot water dispenser, which would dispense a measured amount of water via a needle of some sort. Timer gets set off automatically, and the door is locked until time is up so people don't try to reach in too early and get injected full of hot water. Then I'd want!

To be honest, i was expecting some fancy, hyper-robotical japanese style machine that would amaze me taking the envelope away by itself and i don't know, perhaps analizing my body weight or something, but no... the machine is quite simple: a boiler, buttons here and there, and that's it.

And even if i wanted to do business with it, the storage section is very small, meaning that i would have to go fill it with soups every let's say.... 10 minutes.

Apart from that, i really want one!!!!!!

My folks used to buy Nissin Cup Noodles by the case (because often my brother and I would arrive home at different hours and it was perfect for instant dinner). But I haven't had one in years. This machine is awesome - I hope there's also an indicator telling how much hot water is left in the reservoir (I have enough trouble keeping a supply of hot water in my kettle for tea!).

I also love how there's a timer for nothing but counting down 3 minutes - the exact cooking time of a Cup Noodles cup.

This reminds me, has anybody else seen Freedom Project? It was an OVA series produced with Katsuiro Otomo financed by Nissin... looks like Cup Noodle survived Earth's greatest apocalypse and made its way to the moon. :)

I thought it would automatically prepare everything for you at first but seeing the demo video it completely changed my thoughts on it. This has got to be one of the most useless machines I've seen, you have to do so almost everything manually even the ammount of water added isn't automated. Doesn't look like the water container can hold more than 4 cups so pretty impractical.

Vending machine? So the noodles are not free?
That would be useful if you don't have to pay for each cup and comes with a lifetime supply of noodles ^^

Cup noodle has come in handy for me so many times when I've had nothing else to eat at home. Thank you cup noodle!

Wow, if only they had those things in other places around the world. Then again, I would much rather just cook my own noodles, or go to a restaurant and eat home-made ones :3
