The Machine Girl

If you have a fetish for sailor fuku school girls with a huge Gatling gun as a replacement for a severed arm then this will be right up your alley.

After the first few seconds of watching the trailer for "The Machine Girl", I thought "hmmm, looks interesting." Then some cheesy special effects started to kick in - but still want to watch it ^^;

From what I can make out from the trailer, the heroine has her family and boyfriend killed - and her left arm chopped off at the same time. She somehow manages to get a Gatling gun built to fit on her amputated arm which she then uses to shoot seven shades of shite out of her enemies.

The Japanese name for the film is Kataude Mashin Ga-ru [片腕マシンガール] and according to IMDB is due out next year.
May be a bit gory for some folks so beware.

Thanks to member DRAGUN for sending this in. If you have life saving information that all otaku must know about (like this item) then mail [tips at dannychoo dot com].
High res trailer at BrightCove and images from TwitchFilm.

If you are interested in reading about life in Japan, seeing photos taken daily around Tokyo, like Japanese subculture (anime, manga, figures, Dollfies) then you may want to start delving into the Japan or Figure categories for a start or have a gander at all photo articles.

This film looks great. It reminds me of a movie I watched a couple years ago called "The Story of Rickey". The effects are cheese-tastic. Thank you so much for posting this.

BTW here's a website for more info on "The Story of Rickey".

For some reason I have a feeling Quentin Tarantino gonna steal the idea, or put his name on this and bring it to N. America.

Chicky is cute enough, and movie seems campy enough that I'd probably watch. Why not.

Sorry, but I have to give a big lol to all of the people dismissing this because they think it's cheesy and "dumb".

But then I wouldn't expect most people to be intelligent or informed enough to see the allure and entertainment value of good ol' fashioned, shlocky, gory, silly, mindless B-movies for what they are, and not for some silly high standards they selfishly impose upon it.

But seeing as I'm one of the connoisseurs of such things, all I have to say in defense is that the people that like this sort of thing, like them knowing full well how ridiculous they are. It's part of it.

And judging by the obvious tounge-in-cheek nature of the trailer, if you didn't catch that it's silly on purpose, you must have some serious context clue and common sense problems.

I can understand if some people might think this is too "gory" for them or if they are squeamish, or if they just aren't into those kinds of things.

But never underestimate the entertainment value, of a good ol' fashioned, intentionally silly, mindless gore fest every once in a while. Or the fanbase that appreciates this kind of thing.

People pay money to go into a theater and watch a comedy movie, but when a movie like this comes along, they dismiss it, because they feel that if it's not easily recognized as a "comedy" that gives them the right to be dismissive, and quite honestly, ignorant of it's entertainment value.

It's only as "dumb" and as "cheesy " as you make it. Instead of people judging and being so dismissive and harsh about this kind of thing, maybe people should sit back and actually enjoy when something is silly and mindless for the sake of being silly, mindless fun.

Sure it doesn't look to be nearly on the same level of Peter Jackson's "Braindead" (A.K.A Dead Alive) (A.K.A. The greatest gore film ever).

But I think that this film shall immensely satisfy my craving for a good, intentionally silly, and entertaining gore film.

or... at least a lot more than Battle Royal did, which I found to be a little TOO heavy and pretentious for being as silly of a film as it really was.

At least I can see from the getgo, that "Machine Girl" has no such issues.

If people didn't already see or notice the admittedly campy fun of this movie from the trailer, and how it doesn't TRY to take itself seriously, then those are the kinds of people that I would expect to be ignorant of the reasoning of why people love to watch silly, low budget, gore films for fun.

In short: This film doesn't take itself seriously. So, some of you silly people shouldn't take it so seriously, either.

Hmm, "The Machine Girl" aye...after noticing the image and then reading the description; I found it very similar if not a COPY of the American movie: Grindhouse; but reversed; instead of character with arm thats a "gun," Grindhouse has a female character with a "gun" for the leg. I'm not particularly interested in watching this; but if I watch Grindhouse sometime and if this movie comes out in DVD by that time; I'd check it out just to compare them. Anyhow; seems the Japanese movie industry are doing it again, copying the Americans when they lose or have no insight for imagination in terms of horror/gory/scary action movie genre.

The humor kinda reminds me of the style in Evil Dead II with some kill Bill mixed in.

I watched the first 10 minutes of it and I had to stop, the gore was too disturbing even though it was cheesy. I like the idea and I was curious of the story and all, but I got a weak stomach for that kind of violence, if it was an anime I might be able to handle it better.

Watched it over the weekend… a laugh riot!
Everything is over the top (i.e. acting, gore, etc).
Only thing missing was gratuitous nudity. Oh well…
