Manga Spoils Anime

Was about to pick up the Minamike manga but didn't want to spoil the fun of watching the anime series which I absolutely lurve.
Had a peek inside to see the episode where they string up Chiaki to stop the rain so presuming that the anime version just follows the manga version.

In general, does reading manga first spoil the fun of watching it as an anime later?
