Photo Composition

I've seen these around the internets for a while and only recently came across the creators site - Kimura-san does a good job on his composites and is something I would love to have more time to try out.
Check out more of these at his site.
I have seen comments from folks who think photo composites with figures are naff though - what do you think?

This is just too cool for words. I love the one with Eva and girl siting on the drinking fountain edge.

Very nice. I especially like the Eva-01 F-type and Nagato Yuki shots. I've though about trying something like this a few times. I neither have the professional camera nor software to accomplish such a feat though.

Some look really good and some look really bad. IMO the shots that are more "life like" are much better than the ones of characters looming over cities...
I'd like to see what you could do with your collection Danny :D.

Absolutely amazing ^^, I'm thinking of doing something but with my gundams instead of figures, I'm trying to put them in some sort of Rock Band ^^

This is really great work. I too want to give this a try. Need to make more time to do these type of things. For me they are nice diversion.

If "naff" means cliche or cheesy, I'd disagree... Admittedly, some of the compositions work better than others, but some are cute, funny, and even have an intriguing CGI feel to them...
But overall, impressive! Kinda steals the thunder from my own attempts at photography and Photoshop... ^_^;
Student of all things
I have to admit im not a fan of these. Although in certain instances i think they can look nice.
The 3rd/4th image down with the girl sat on the outdoor sink to me is quite a nice picture, has a certain artistic quality to it.
The others just do nothing for me.

Man, i wish i got those photographic skill !! All was so lifely. I suppose there's still got 1 more photo is Asakura Ryouko stand in the classroom right, i love that one very much.
???Confused???
These photo compositions are quite nice...the ones depicting normal daily life have such a natural feel to it...the ones with action sequences look like something from a movie...

Wow. I feel most of them blend well and I'm truly impressed in the mecha ones, especially the first, second, seventh and eighth (only count the mecha pics here) as well as the Fate Stay/Night and Asakura Ryouko ones.
About the one with the girl and the school (third picture of the batch), I don't think it's a good idea for her to stick her rear on such a shabby-looking sink. Love this picture otherwise. XD

I agree with silent1134, the normal daily life ones are cool. They look so natural. I like the one in the kitchen. I have to look for a figure double for myself...

It's not too hard to do with photoshop. just green screen your figures when you take pictures of them and replace the green color with transparency.

These are excellent! The trick appears to be to get the same lighting on the figure as appears in the photo of the scene - which must be the most difficult part to get right, even if exposure of selected parts can be adjusted in PS. Maybe I'll try it one day...

some of the photos work well, but others don't.
The mecha ones come off particularly badly because the plastic look really shows up and is at odds with the photo. The figures fare much better tho...
The dark saber in the forest is particularly impressive as even the lighting seems to compliment the shot.

I think it is a very creative and fun way to play with your figures, although yes, not all of them can be exciting action shots.
I like them, in general.
