CLANNAD

Got quite a few anime titles on my watch list. Some of them I watch in batches of 3 or 4 and some I watch religiously every week. Minamike is one of them and Clannad is the other.

Quite a few shows this season based on the school theme but Clannad has something about it that makes it shine. The humor, incredibly cute girls, great animation and a most cutesome ED theme song. Choosing a fave out of the girls is tough as they are *all* cute but I go for Nagisa-chan.

The only other school themed anime that really sticks out in my mind is Haruhi - but I'd be hard pushed to decide which out of the two I would choose to watch on that deserted island.
Minamike in my mind is based around the sisters - be that at home or school so I'm not counting that.

Clannad OP below.

Cutesome ED below.
Extended OP below.
ZTS Remix below - I listen to this back to back while programming non stop ^^;
Screencaps and Clannad bread in a tin below.

    There was one episode in Haruhi where most of it was a camera in the corner of the room looking down at Yuki sitting in a chair - I thought that was pretty bad.

    I don't believe what I'm hearing... how can you guys NOT like this series? Did you actually give it a chance to go passed episode 1?

    It's got humour, drama, great visuals, an amazing soundtrack, and one of the most interesting combos of character personalities I've seen in a while. I don't know about comparing it to Haruhi since it kind of stands on its own in terms of genre but this series definitely isn't one to be missed. In my opinion, excluding sequels, it was the best series that started airing last month.

    I think Clannad is ok, its very similar to Kanon in my opinion though I'd probably pick Kanon over Clannad. But between Haruhi and Clannad I would definitely choose Haruhi.

    I thought; damn this is better than haruhi. But then i scrolled past the images of bread in a can, and I have lost faith. Haruhi remains undefeated.

    On a series note, I like haruhi simply because its a punch of comedy; whereas clannad looks more of a romance first with comedy taking shotgun.

    Hmmm, for me, "Haruhi", while unique, loses to "Lucky Star" in its own brand of high-school humor and parody (also Kyoto Animation) while "Clannad" (rather slow so far) loses to "Kanon" (yet another Kyoto) in music, pace and drama...

    But out of all 4 of these quality Kyoto productions (or 5 if you include "Air TV"), then "Kanon" is the ultimate overall winnah across all departments.

    In any case, without question, Kyoto has been one hell of a kick-ass studio! =)

    The story in Haruhi is more mind blowing than Clannad, so I give Haruhi some edge. But Clannad is pretty good on its own. It's one of the better school life series that's on right now compared to Kimi Kiss & Myself; Yourself. Kimi Kiss character design is gorgeous though!

    Haruhi.. since I didn't start watching Clannad yet. :P
    But it is on my priority list.
    Problem is, I didn't manage to finish watching Lucky Star yet, and there's already like 5 animes on my priority list. One of them is Minami-ke.

    I even began buying Mangas now because it's easier and quicker to read them than stopping to watch animes. :P

    It's interesting that so many people say Kanon and Clannad are similar. I understand the comparison and agree to a point. I just didn't care for Kanon...

    Clannad is slow at time, but I really enjoy the humor and the show is visually soothing for me. That goes beyond the moe girls.

    Haruhi is non-stop in your face humor. Without a doubt that is what I enjoy about the series. Although right now, Clannad and Minamike are what I need the most.

    P.S. Oops, almost forgot... Even if "Clannad" turns out to be an awesome "Kanon"-esque story, what irks me most is "Clannad"s off-key opening tune. Ouch, my ears! Hence, I can never give it 5 of 5 stars. ^_^;;

    Hope the style, story and characters will be good too.

    Only 2 reasons why I'm watching Clannad:
    - Mamiko Noto
    - Kikuko Inoue

    Aya Hirano and all her stereotypical characters don't come anywhere close to the talent of these 2 VAs.

    And in terms of anime spinoff of Key games I still prefer Air. All of them are expected to have sad endings so no surprise there.

    Anime I would rather watch this season:
    - Taiho Shichauzo Full Throttle
    - Kaiji
    - Shakugan no Shana II

    And come Dec I would have more Kikuko Inoue goodness as Aa Megami-sama: Tatakau Tsubasa opens.

    for me, this anime ranked really high for me... loved the anime and very anxious to wathc the next episodes and wonders will it be a 2 part just like the game...

    Haruhi was fun :3

    But Clannad made me use my facial tissue box for what it was intended to be for ;____;

    You know...I've watched all the episodes aired, but I don't actually like the show all that much. If it doesn't start to catch my interest more soon I will probably drop it. The pace is too slow for me. >.>

    well, Clannad for me is an alternative to refreshing after watch so many action films because the theme wasn't so bad and simple, but on the KEY's (real claimer) game version on it might have a different story. so the whole season would be like Kanon, I think.

    I recommend you to watch episode 8, something similar to other dramas but this would be very heavy to know.

    One thing's for sure. Kyoto Animation is conquering the world!

    .....well, not really, but I think the anime community has KyoAni's productions on top of the watch list.

    With collaboration with Key's works on one hand, and Haruhi on the other, it's a sure-win.

    Heck, even I who started my interest in KyoAni's works with Haruhi want to catch up with their other works like Air and Kanon.
    Still watching Lucky Star currently.

    I know, I'm slow...

    Er-hem, getting back to topic, I expect much from Clannad.

    I always like hearing the OP and ED themes of anime before watching them. So, I can said, for Kanon 2006 and Air TV, I wasn't that much impressed when I first hear them.

    However, with Clannad, the OP and ED themes are an instant thumbs up.
    It's that good.

    If you ask me if this is better than Haruhi, I will say this: I will definitely be more willing to buy Haruhi merchandise (okay, so maybe it's because I haven't watch Clannad yet) but Haruhi has this theme which is centered around herself, making it easier for fans like me to choose.

    To be honest, though I'm a really crazy about Haruhism, I'd say, overall, CLANNAD definitely won Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu hands down. Awesome drawings, awesome story, awesome humour. If this wasn't supposedly, a romance story, I would take it as a comedy. Its humour even beat some other comedy animes.

    I can't even vote on this poll because I like both anime too equally... and the Clannad movie is just awesome!:D How do I compare these two... you just can't... Sorry Danny but my vote won't be in this time, too difficult to compare and decide, honestly. If you haven't seen Clannad yet, you must watch.:D

    Clannad is my favorite show right now.. awesome story, cast of characters, and the humor is just perfect. Haruhi is in my personal opinion very overrated.. it's not a bad show, but I don't think it deserves the praise it gets.

    it's so hard to choose. I love both Haruhi and Clannad. Clannad has that more serious aura compare to haruhi but haruhi has that charm that u cannot repel. both of them FTW!
