Japanese Doll Garbage

Probably the most interesting items I've seen thrown out - traditional Japanese Dolls. Would not want to bump into these when throwing garbage out at night. Would be a different matter if they were expensive Dollfies though.
Whats the strangest thing you've seen thrown out?

If any of you answer with things like "working TVs" then that be normal over here > electronics are thrown out over here every day...

If you are interested in reading about life in Japan, seeing photos taken daily around Tokyo, like Japanese subculture (anime, manga, figures, Dollfies) then you may want to start delving into the Japan or Figure categories for a start or have a gander at all photo articles.

If you don't have much time now, maybe subscribe to the RSS Feed, Twitter Feed or join the other readers in the FaceBook Page.
Alternatively, you may want to read more about the site.
If you are a regular reader then this message will probably annoy you each time - hide it forever.

This item was posted in the Japan category. You can see more of everything else or subscribe via RSS instead.

Apartment complexes are great places to find some odd and nice stuff. People move out after living there for a year and just can't take it all with them. Ah, those Japanese dolls. My brother is absolutely terrified of them, so much so that before I came over here, he said to not send any of those home. Till this day, the only traditional Japanese dolls I sent were the Sarubobo Dolls of Takayama/Shirakawago and Kokeshi Dolls. Oddly enough, the faceless Sarubobo Dolls still scare my family even though they don't look like real people at all.

Lol, if people don't want something like that anymore over here, it's much more common to give it away to a second hand store or charity, or put it in front of your house and put a sign on it indicating it is free to take (or put a price on it, if it's good, people will usually knock on your door to pay).

I used to work as a repair man in an apartment and town home complex in Ann Arbor Michigan, many of the residents there were Japanese and South Korean working and attending the University of Michigan on a 4 year visa. It would be common to see various manga as well as other sorts of Japanese zines that were thick like the grapes of wrath.

When ever a resident from either country would have to move back home due to visa restrictions if they had no intention of returning then often I would find that they would sell what they could and the rest would go to the garbage collection bin. Often there would be kids furniture along with cheap broken couches and chairs though on occasion I would come across some nice items in good to great condition that I would take down to a local charity.

The strangest thing that really inst strange but is strange where I found it was a complete three piece suit with leather shoes and overcoat plus silver cuff links and tie tack that were wrapped up in tissue paper and taped and sealed up in 6 plastic trash bags hidden underneath several large juniper bushes.
